I grew up at the Guildhall and when I went from prep to junior, the overture to Ruslan and Ludmila was the first piece I ever played with the JGSO (and the first piece I played with a serious symphony orchestra). I still remember the conductor raising his baton and then being blown away by the sound around me. Even as someone who grew up there and was immersed in it for so long, it is still astonishing how much talent the Guildhall are constantly able to squeeze out of such young musicians.
