ABOUT THIS GAME
The missions undertaken by the crews of B-17 bombers during World War II are the stuff of legend. What was it to fly through relentless anti-aircraft fire over Nazi-occupied Europe? What was it to have a thin layer of steel between life and death at 15,000 feet? Furiously fend off enemy fighters zipping around your plane and then precisely deliver your cargo of bombs over enemy targets?
Find out for yourself as you lead a 10-men crew to victory... or defeat... against squadrons of Nazi warplanes in the legendary B-17 Flying Fortress!
A WWII Campaign to fight and survive through
Carry out a realistic 25-missions tour of duty based on historically accurate scenarios and targets, or Take to the skies in "Quick Start" assignments with available Instant Action mode. Plan real missions, select authentic flying formations, and manage both crews and bombers. Assess your crew's strengths and skills to effectively re-position members and cope with wounded personnel and casualties.
It’s a 10-men job
Take to the skies in any one of ten B-17 Flying fortress crew positions: Pilot, Co-Pilot, Navigator, Bombadier/Chin Turret Gunner, Radio Operator, Engineer/Top Turret Gunner, Port Waist Gunner, Starboard Waist Gunner, Ball Gunner, and Tail Gunner! Take total control: Take-off, land, shoot from various crew positions, navigate across a realistically mapped Europe, operate the radio, line up the bomb run, release the bombs and bail out if necessary.
Choose your plane, choose your allegiance
Fly a variety of aircraft from the legendary B-17 to the rugged escort fighters - Choose between the American B-17G bomber, P-38 Lightning, P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, and the German Bf 109, Fw 190, and ME 262 fighters. Yes, you can even fight "The Mighty Eight" in the role of a German Luftwaffe pilot!
Back from 2000!
This is the original MicroProse B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th, the legendary sequel to B-17 Flying Fortress: World War II Bombers in Action. Fly the B-17 Flying Fortress and become a legend before your own time!

RIP C-Cup. She had the distinction of outlasting every other single-ship campaign Taff’s done except Angel Fire.

Good Luck to “Bomb Boogie II”
Farewell C-Cup, She did good and brought the boys home. That was a lot of 190s. Thank you Taff.
RIP C-Cup. You were a good bomber. May the crew continue its legacy with Bomb Boogie II.
Gripping episode taff, D-Day is underway and you get sent on a long distance raid deep into enemy homeland, the Luftwaffe sent everything they had by the looks of it.. probably not the case but that's how it appeared. That FW190 that exploded close to your tail didn't half come close to hitting you, but.. it didn't and that's what matters. As it was with many B17s that we're stragglers.. you got chased down and fired at en mass. Makes you go silent when you think about the ordeals the real crews went through. May not have hit the target but you managed to get out of there alive, the aircaft maybe lost but the crew lives to fight another day. Getting back to safety was more than enough of a victory, aircraft can be replaced but lives can't. You'll get a new plane and be up there again before you know it, get the crew of C-cup good booze drinks and you yourself get a drink in the mess and have one on me. Great series taff, LOVE each and every one of them. Keep it up mate 👍
Oh man what an episode! RIP Boys, you'll be missed. The Medal of Honor tail gun should be rescued and set into a museum.
Used to play this religiously years ago on a cd - to not really trust or enjoy downloads. Anyway, great game - I even used this as part of my lesson over the air war in Europe - did a classroom simulation - one of the groups in class was shot down - six POW - four KIA - it really brought home the message!
Down, but not out. My hope is that Bomb Boogie II, like the Phoenix, will rise from the ashes and find glory.
Rest in peace to Graves, but at least the rest of the crew managed to get picked up in time.
Damn shame that the old girl didn't make it, but it's wonderful that the crew did!
Should re-name the new bomber as D-Cup
That is about the best you could have handled it. Very sad about Graves being lost after bailing. He was a heck of a bombardier, having gone all missions with no wounds and securing a fighter kill. His bio indicated that he was 22 and single, and having bailed out, IRL they might have been able to retrieve what was left of him at least. As for C-Cup, I'd say the States got a massive return on investment, having the thing survive 12 missions and eliminating half of the operational Luftwaffe in the country!
C-Cup: "was i a good bomber plane?"
"no. You were the BEST bomber plane."
Rip C-Cup. She pulled to the last getting her crew back to friendly territory. I'm glad most of the crew survived to fly another day. Albeit the toughest mission for C-Cup's tour but once again, she fought until she no longer could. Thanks Taff for the thrill ride of a series so far. Looking forward to the next mission as always. Goodbye C-Cup, and we thank you. o7
Nicely done at @10:52 2 for the price of one. :) And you did it twice lol, I'm surprised you don't receive the Iron Cross!
On those long emergency trips back home if you set up your route on your navigation map if will help you out a lot, specially with a gradual or light decent of altitude. That way you can focus on enemy aircraft and attending to your wounded. I have been in quite of these scenarios and I have found setting a course for home will help, but of course I have never been able to make it home all the time due to overwhelming odds against me. That final mission was really brutal, glad to see most of your crew made it to friendly territory.
Hope the new game takes on real world events. From April ‘44 onwards the 8th airforce was directed to attack troop concentrations, rail hubs, logistic centres and marshalling yards in northern France and Southern Belgium.
Would be an awesome thing of the new game knew that.
Taff maybe you could do a squadron commanders tour next time and plan them out yourself.
The mission on June 6, 1944, should definitely have been aimed at targets in France.
I am amazed how many oil refineries Germany had back then...bit like how many special bits of sonar and radar equipment we were sending across the Atlantic in cargo ships according to U-Boat. 😄
A nail biting episode.
In loving memory - Second Lieutenant Foster J. Graves, USAAC
July 12th 1922 - June 6th 1944
Killed in action after crashing in the North Sea. Grave not known.
These episodes are great and I enjoy them all. Your content is second to none especially your U-boat videos I wish you had a new one every day
Talk about unlucky 13; here’s to Bomb Boogie II!
13th mission, that distance. This will not be going well..

Edit (spoiler):
"Bye bye, C Cup..."
Lucky Thirteen it will get you every time!
30,000’ is going to be hard for your damaged planes to keep position I’m guessing
Yeah I don’t know if the game models it but a windmilling engines caused more drag than a one pitched into the wind.
But when I played, at 30,000ft, light damage would drop a plane out of formation.
Damn! Those German fighters were Hell bent and out for blood with C-Cup because of all the fighters she shot down in her career.
I couldn’t wait for this episode! Bitter sweet but riveting
Aw RIP C-Cup. At least most of the boys made it back, that's what counts.
Hard mission. Not your fault. Congrats on saving the crew.
This is great stuff!
that was a real nail biter!
6TH OF JUNE 1944
ALLIES ARE TURNING NO MORE
Thanks for upload will enjoy this
Well, no big loss for C Cup... She's got a mate don't she!?
Circling like vultures
RIP C-Cup! Lost the bombardier but the rest of the crew made it to fight another day.Bomb Boogie to Berlin!
Less than 20 seconds -- I'm in!
GET ON! The anticipation turning page to page in the debriefing was driving me heart out my chest. then i saw 6 active and literally shouted get on! aloud
Bring out the bottle!!!!
Made it through the hump
31:41 I’m routing for C Cup to make it to England coast at least! 😢
Keep this up. Enjoy it.
20+ enemy aircrafts showed up and no friendly escort, many bombers downed and Graves KIA (first crew loss in the most prolific aircraft in the entire squadron), that was suicidal. I would blame the hierarchy for the lack preparation on this mission. I would not blame that on bad luck alone.
Great episode, Taff! It’s a damn shame about C-Cup and her bombardier. Hopefully his death was quick. But thank god the majority of the crew will carry on the fight. Eerily, didn’t C-Cup lose her bombardier in the 1990 Memphis Belle film?!?!?!
Whoa, now I need to go and check, because that's spooky as hell if so!
Sad to see C-Cup go, I wanted to see how many tally marks you could fit in it
Ahh, Lucky 13
C CUP II
I had a question. What happens with the mixed crews like this. Do the crew that are half way through their missions get to go home while the replacements continue on? It seems a bit disorganized. But maybe the airforce takes all those replacements and uses them to crew new planes.
In the game, it isn’t the crews but the bomber that has to survive 25 missions. When you loose a bomber, it resets back to 0 if enough of them survive.
Bye Bye C-Cup😢
It's a real shame that C-Cup's mission on D-Day didn't involve bombing targets in France. All 8th Air Force missions on D-Day were to France, nothing was sent to Germany. Personally, I would have simulated 'engine trouble' after takeoff, and aborted this mission before leaving UK airspace.
Bittersweet
Can you order other planes to drop bombs early and return to base?
i do have a question, in this game, do you can upgrade your plane or what?
Taff, any chance of a Kill Count for each of the crew, please ?
Taff why don't you knock it off with all those negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautful it is at 30,000 feet? Why don't you say something righteous for a change? 😄
Thanks Oddball...
You do not change your bomb load out
Is there a way to free some memory without ruining the playthrough?
I thought micropose were supposed to be making a brand new rendition of this game. It was announced about four or five years ago and I still haven't heard any new updates on its development.
Took me two seconds to find that with GOOGLE: Planned Q4 2023
Goddamnit, shouldn't have read the comments mid-video.
