fr the live chat is so unhinged lol "KAZUI R34 🔛🔝" "BRO THINKS HES A DANGANROPA CHAR" "LEAVE HIM PLEASE I CAN TREAT YOU BETTER" and also that one person spamming about mikoto 😭😭 i can't with this fandom
Over a year later, I want to say something about the dove. People have been saying it represents peace (as it does as a cultural icon) or Kazui and Hinako's marriage. However, if we note that the mask Kazui wears in half resembles modern versions of a Colombina mask from the Commedia dell'Arte, then the dove would represent Kazui's farce--his ultimate "trick" that he shows to Hinako. I'd go more into Colombina as a specific character for Kazui and the implications thereof, but it'd be way too long for a normal UA-cam comment. Instead, I'll just say that "colombina" literally means "little dove," so it's a perfect tie-in to the "magician" theme they give Kazui here in Cat!
besides the forbidden fruit symbolism and whatnot, i actually like that it's specifically a green apple used to represent kazui... like from the surface it stands out against the rest of the red apples, but in the end it's still just an ordinary apple. kazui being gay or even just not fitting into the norms of masculinity/society may be seen as unconventional, but none of it makes him any less of a person. (and knowing kazui he probably knows that but just refuses to apply it to himself cuz hypocrisy) anyways happy pride month old man yaoi
That sounds so sad but at the same time so true... Kazui would think that for sure, just like being gay doesn't change the fact that he is a human but he can't stop thinking that is because of that the reason why his family hates him, Hinako killed herself and he were there alone only with his lies...
Aaah, thank you. I had pretty much the same analysis, but you really helped tie things together. I think that things had been going relatively smoothly in their relationship, with her being impressed by his 'tools and tricks' but one day as he continues to dissuade her, the thought of the bartender metaphorically 'rolls under the table' and he catches it, showing that that is where his real priorities are. That same day (since he's wearing the same clothes in the bar scene scene I believe) he drunkenly confesses. I was confused if he told her or not but the idea that someone overheard makes a lot of sense given the scene of him falling to his knees and stumbling that I couldn't fit into my time-line. He was clearly distressed as his lies/efforts were torn away and fell useless to the floor. From there he grows tired and let's his resentment of their marriage and his performing out, telling her himself. This horrifies her, leading her to stumble backwards and seemingly fall off the balcony. Thus, in a way, Kazui 'killed' her.
Never ever forget the title is probably referencing the fact that cat or “Neko” is used as a term for a submissive gay man (essentially a bottom) in Japan , they literally queercoded the title , the closet is made of glass.
It has been two months but I would like to add that further more when he says “I want to be loved by a cat” this by association with the term “Neko” means that Kazui wants to be dominated so in conclusion Kazui is not just gay but a bottom thank you for coming to my Ted talk
Read this when first watching the MV, I had just gone over his marriage part and I was like "huh" Now this comment won't leave my head no matter what I do
I mean we had only S1 guilty ones + Yuno mention the voices. Kazui had pretty much ignored it in his voice drama. I mean, he mentioned that he is disappointed that milgram hadn't solved his scenario, so I guess he's never heard of bartender shippings. But that's just a theory.... A GAAAAAAAY THEORY
@@guyturtle dang, I really hope he mentions them in T3, it would be so funny. But I do wonder if he has heard the bartender shippings and he’s saying it’s a different story (I hope not though, he’s currently King Yaoi the 4th in my heart)
HEAR ME OUT HEAR ME OUT. So everyone is saying "he ate the bird he ate the bird" The dove at the end is actually the ring. Start of the video, he turns the ring into the dove. At the end of the video he eats that dove. That dove represents the ring, their marriage. He destroyed their marriage hence why he "ate" the dove. Edit: Also i think the reason its a dove is because the symbolism of it, it means freedom and in this case it can be because marriage, seen by most people and i think kazui too, as something that limits your freedom. Yet another edit: Another thing could be that Kazui wanted affection (shown in the lyrics) but maybe he didnt want the commitment. "Loving affection (minus) Love, its tacky" I feel like Kazui really wanted the affection that an agreement such as marriage and such would provide but didnt actually want the commitment of the relationship or maybe it was just that he did not love the woman back whichs a possibilty. "I just got a little greedy" I think that he used the woman for her affection and such and didnt love her back. "I want to be loved just like a cat" im still not sure what exactly that means but again, it could be the attention and affection you put into your cat maybe if its like a street cat, you feed it and pet it without any attachment and such.
I think your right but I also think at the same time the dove also represents his "trick" (him lying about how he felt) and eating it could then also show how he maybe revealed the information thus destroying his trick and the marriage
@@sandmaru yeah that makes so much sense he would be exposing the whole trick situation alongside the whole divorce thing at the end which is the end of the video, the dove scene! I never thought of that before
Ngl Kazui is the first one where I’ve loved both the first and second trial videos equally (not that the others aren’t also fantastic, I just tend to prefer one over the other)
For the ones who think Kazui cheated: He confirmed in his voice drama that he didn't, that wasn't his crime. He said that he's been lying since he was a kid. When he stopped lying, that truth "killed" his wife. I've read a theory that says that Kazui is actually in love with the bartender. If you pay attention when Kazui says he's drunk and "What if I told you that I like like you?" he was probably at the bar. He's drinking something different from what he's drinking with his wife in the next scene. When he sees his wife through the alcohol glass he sees himself with the outfit he had at the bar with the green apple replacing his head. To me, that green apple represents Kazui's homosexuality. So maybe he got drunk and couldn't hide the truth about his homosexuality anymore. Another small hint is that in his new voice drama, he said he never had kids even though he's an "old" man who's been married for a long time. Kazui is guilty of homosexuality. I rest my case.
@@kishistuff1376yeah it would likely be constantly lying and with the "why cant i be normal" thinking he needs to repress it till it came out and so his wife realized that the entire time it wasnt real love from him, it was just him using her and then instead of being honest with her keeping the lies up.
A comment I saw somewhere else said that the green apple appearing over his head in that scene might have been a reference to "The Son of Man" painting by Magritte, and looking at what the painter said about that, it seems to fit thematically with Kazui's whole deal: "You have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden, the face of the person. It's something that happens constantly. Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present." So I don't think the apple itself isn't a representation of him being gay necessarily, more just of his hidden nature, his facade.
I can’t wait until the interrogation comes out and it’s just Kazui sitting down with a crooked smile, smoking a cigarette, with the same smooth voice as ever and he finally asks Es why they voted him innocent for what he did. Out of all the prisoners why they overlooked him for what he did. Not angry. Not sad. Just curious. And Es looks him dead in the eyes and asks “hey, are you gay or what man.”
I’m crying all the comments are about the gay theory. We’re really in it this time Kazui……………….. I personally believe in the theory of Kazui merely attempting to be “normal” by rushing through his marriage and trying to find a perfect pure love and achieve the happiness he saw other people achieve, putting on a mask and a facade, that fell down the moment for once in his life he decided to be honest and that ended up breaking his wife because the truth was that he never truly loved her for “her”. It’s hinted that he wanted to be caressed, and caress, the fact is that through their time together he couldn’t even stand to learn to “truly” love her for anything more than her body but maybe it’s even more than that. Maybe he’s lonely and was accepting of anyone’s warmth were they willing. But, like, you can see what happened. Because he never truly loved her and was greedy and wanted more than just her. Whatever that means. Be it physically, or emotionally, he couldn’t give her back her love and he wanted to like the song title who wanted to be indulged, and selfish and have freedom instead of being held down. he lied to her face thinking that lie of happiness would inevitably would become the truth and while she was happy he was boiling on the inside, slowly breaking apart. But, it never did and he snapped. I think he did care for her truly. A platonic type of love. I want to believe Kazui truly does know better now and he did know better to or rush into a relationship or pretend for the sake of anyone else ever again, it’s just that now he hates himself for what he did, and he’s going to live with that hate with the rest of his life and wear his wedding ring like a albatross around his neck if we don’t tell him it’s okay. I think that people can change. That he deserves to be innocent because he knows what happened and what he did was wrong by leading her along with his feelings that weren’t there. That he needs to learn that living a truthful life is okay, too. If he had done that from the start, it would’ve been okay and he never would’ve needed to lie, and the truth wouldn’t have hurted so much, but the truth wasn’t the problem. his only crime is holding out for so long on the lie he kept to spare her feelings instead of telling her the truth from the get go since he bought her expectations so high when they broke apart it ended up in her death. He never needed to be normal. Just go on Grindr, old man. I hate how it’s canon that the prisoners canonly hear voices whispering to them. He’s going to be hearing “homosexual homosexual gay gay gay homosexual” every time he goes to sleep.
Why does everyone believe in the gay theory?? It just does not make any sense. Everyone is thinking too much!! He's just a manipulative liar who masks his true self. "I want to be normal"? *It's all lies.* Why do you all believe it? He confesses to lying yet everyone believes everything he says? He just wants to be loved like a cat. Someone that is loved unconditionally, someone who is cherished, someone who is loved in the way he wants or when he wants, just like a cat.
I wanted to be loved just like a cat"に現れているから、この曲の本題ってこのワンフレーズに込められてるんじゃないかな……
@ew-xm9vs I’m glad you agree! I, too, understand that we shouldn’t force people to watch MVs, but in terms of views, there is definitely a lot of bias between characters. A lot of people choose not to watch certain MVs/trailers simply because they don’t find the character attractive or likable, and I think that sucks, because I think we should support the team regardless :')
@@ew-xm9vs hilariously that was amane- still, i've been looping triage, cat, tpm, and double since i would really like to see triage and cat especially reach 1M views soon- Cat's like my third favorite song behind the tie of Tear Drop and MeMe(yes those are vastly different songs, that's why they're tied) and Kazui's super interesting.
Important note! Kazui and his wife are very likely to both be in the criminal investigation bureau 1st division This is based on the red band on their arms which the police from that department wears. That means that both of them investigate criminal activities such as murder, robbery, SA, arson, kidnapping, violence, etc.
Hello everyone. I would like to touch on a choice of words Milgram creators used for "Lie until it gets better, follow the king of the masquerade". While the word "Masquerade" thematically fits Cat's MV, the actual Japanese word they've used is actually "Kyougen", which could explain a little more into Kazui's narrative as a whole. Most of this information is from Wikipedia so my explanation will be VERY brief... Kyougen, or "Mad Words", is a form of traditional Japanese comic theater. (You can hear the word Kyougen being sung everytime the word Masquerade pops up in the lyrics.) Kyougen is usually played within Noh (another form of Japanese theatre, Nogaku), and is supposed to be an "intermission" sequence that happens in-between Noh. While Noh is formal, symbolic, and solemn, has serious singing/dancing, Kyougen is "comedic" - the main goal is to make the audience laugh. More elements of Kyougen include "stock characters (less than three actors)" and elements of slapstick and satire. It's interesting to note that actors in Kyougen don't wear masks unless you play as an animal (or a god) clashing the meaning of Milgram's official usage of "masquerade". Kyougen has parallels with Greek satyr play, which is also a style of comical play performed between tragedies. So with this information, it makes sense why half is presented in a melancholic light, and Cat is more upbeat and jazzy (half would be Noh and Cat would be Kyougen). I hope you can keep this in mind while analyzing/theorizing about Kazui! I don't think we should disregard their official usage on using "Masquerade" since the fun of Milgram is judging everything under your interpretation, but I also think making this difference can be important to understanding more things about Kazui. I bring this distinction up because I personally think that using "masquerade" is too general. Letting people know what the JP word for it is can give us more context and clues regarding this silly cat. Do you think T3 Kazui MV could turn back into a dramatic/melancholic style? EDIT: useful tidbits about Kyougen I found through a Japanese user's comment + adding more info about Kyougen from @/herm8281. Keep in mind this was paraphrased from a google translation. - Kyougen can also mean a "fabricated story that is a lie"/"something done to deceive people and gain profit from them" - Kyougen is a dialogue based drama, does not use complex equipment, and places emphasis through words and gestures - Stories are taken from every day life/folktales as its subject matter, focusing on human habits and essence -much of the humor comes from a clear understanding that the characters are not acting properly, which is very different from a masquerade. look up "kyougen laughter" to see what i mean. -the satire in kyougen usually involves the deception of privileged individuals, like nobles or kings. -while most japanese people are familiar with kyougen as a concept, it's not all that popular in the modern day. Also, another important detail I forgot to mention. If I remember correctly, the "follow the king of the masquerade" line accurately translates to "imitate the Kyougen actor" which brings a slightly different meaning from the ENG line.
Thank you for your explanation! This is super interesting! I also love the Fates icon lol. Flora’s great. I think it’d be really cool if it turned melancholy again, though I’d also love to see it make a surprise happy twist if he is voted inno … Good luck Kazui!!!!!!
more information on kyougen from someone who just studied it as part of a japanese class in japan this summer: -much of the humor comes from a clear understanding that the characters are not acting properly, which is very different from a masquerade. look up "kyougen laughter" to see what i mean. -the satire in kyougen usually involves the deception of privileged individuals, like nobles or kings. -while most japanese people are familiar with kyougen as a concept, it's not all that popular in the modern day. not sure how much connection these facts have individually, but i did want to add to OP's great post shedding light on an important aspect of the translation!!! -
I like how he is represented as a cautivating magician who makes pigeons appear, being a metaphore to pretending to love his wife to then eat the pigeon as a cruel cat would when he confess his lies to her, riping apart his trick.
I'm not sure how relevant this could be to theories, but since Kazui's MV is one of the most graphically striking so far, I think it's worth pointing out. The graphic style of his MV is very heavily inspired by Swiss Design (or more accurately International Typographic Style) which was arguably the most popular graphic design style between the 50s and the 80s. The usage of basic geometric forms with flat colors (in grid-like structures and overlapping with each other), the prominence of typography and strong hierarchy of shape and size (big blocks of bold letters next to extremely small text) are all used here. Also worth pointing out that the font used for the english text is Helvetica, another font created during this era with an emphasis on legibility and flexibility. I find it interesting because the values of this style of design seem to be the entire opposite of Kazui's: this school of thought placed importance on *communicating things as clearly as possible* not bothering with exaggeration or artifice or anything that may muddle the message. On the other hand, Kazui is obsessed with artifice, superficiality and illusion, actively hiding his feelings and intentions. It may also be an ironic element meant to point out his complete inability to communicate clearly. Another possible link is that proponents of this style approached it in a very cold, scientific way, and didn't see design as an art form because artistry and subjectivity gets in the way of clear communication. We can assume Kazui is a very artistically minded person (both his first song and this one heavily feature the concept of theatre) so it may represent him feeling overwhelmed by society's expectations (marriage, a settled life) clashing with his desire for artistry and freedom.
I thought it felt a lot like an advertisement. Like with how clean and distinct everyone is. I also saw someone say that the English text is actually another thing that points to it (as since this is all presumably in Japan, the use of English text is usually only used if you want to market to a market of English speakers) Honestly I think the visual style is very important to this MV, as most of the other ones have had fun metaphors in imagery. While this one has meaning due to the lack of any obvious imagery in a sense. Kazui is…advertising, for lack of a better word. He’s presenting himself as marketable and sanitized up until the end. I’m big on the “Kazui’s sexuality is not compatible with his wife” theory and it would tie into that really well. I feel like the MV has a lot of subtext about normalcy and the lie that is the “ideal heterosexual cisgender” couple so I thought it was interesting how the MV felt like an advertisement of sorts. Great breakdown! I’ve been wanting to know what exactly the style used in this MV is for a bit.
Personally another extremely striking thing with the artstyle in the context of the song being about lying is one that's easy for us, as EN viewers to overlook: It's filled to the brim with the song's lyrics displayed on screen...but they're in English. And sometimes French. That is to say, not the language he's actually singing in. It's such a good way to parallel the idea of deceiving through half-truths and obfuscating language - he's 'lying' every time a word is on screen.
It's so interesting that as soon as Kazui tells the truth (REMINDER: he didn't cheat as confirmed in his voice drama) and reveals his true feelings (literally tearing apart the dove), his wife is already falling off the balcony. That apple that splatters on the ground is her. It's such a visceral and beautiful segment for his perspective. These songs are unreliable narrators but we can still get that Kazui views his truth telling as a violent act. Him telling the truth killed his wife. What's more is his truth is that he forced himself to marry a woman out of societal obligation rather than love. He struggles to keep up that facade of the perfect marriage when in reality there's not much there and he's miserable. It's easy to see why he lies. It's going to be interesting how the vote ends up this round. As of right now (Jul 28) its 56-44 and leaning innocent.
There is something I want people outside of Japan to know. Kazui's vote is divided because of problems among Japanese fans. A female Kazui fan called on non-Mirgram fans to vote for "Unforgiveness" because she wanted to see Kazui suffering. The people who were approached were mainly fans of Japanese and Korean idols. They seemed to win tickets for the idol's front row seats or receive fan service. They mistake it for "something good happened because they didn't forgive Kazui." It is clear that the reason for voting is not because of love or consideration for characters, but because of mysterious superstitions. This is considered a problem among Japanese fans. Fans who did not like it are at odds with them by voting "Forgiveness." Some of them don't want to forgive Kazui. However, they do not want their content to be ruined. Therefore, they are voting to "Forgive". Frankly speaking, Kazui's current voting results are not helpful. This is because voting for Kazui has become more for conflict among Milgram fans than for those who are voting for the characters. If anyone is reading this, you can either "Forgiveness" or "Unforgiveness," so please vote the way you want. Voting runs until Oct. 23. This kind of conflict is very silly.I think that the outcome of the vote should be influenced by those who really like Milgram. I'm using a translator, so there might be something strange about it.Thank you for reading so far. I'll add it here. Currently, it seems that there is an exchange outside of the content between those who voted "Unforgiveness". They thank those who voted for "Unforgiveness" and help apply for tickets for idols and vote for Sanrio characters. It has also been confirmed that the people involved are saying so. I wrote, "Those who voted for 'no forgiveness' think there are good things about voting for Kazui." They call it "Unforgiveness Shrine" and spread it. As far as I've checked, it seems to be spreading to more than 50 people (more precisely over 100). Then one user who didn't like it said, "You stupid woman, die!" on an open account. In this comment, I'll write it briefly, but it was a really bad word. Those who voted "Unforgiveness" were naturally very angry at this. But they brought up the only user, saying, "All Milgram fans are bad people. We will exclude new users like us." Not all of Milgram's fans are bad people, nor are they avoiding them because they are new users. Milgram's fans became intolerable and began tweeting: "I don't think organized votes are good." Then those who voted "Unforgiveness" began to attack the fans. The fans are just expressing their opinions, and they don't say anything offensive to the other person, such as "You die." However, those who voted "Unforgiveness" don't seem to like the opposition. They're refuting in very aggressive terms, reading with nicknames that they clearly deride, and bringing up old tweets and videos to RT.That continues even now. They mistake a single user's tweet, "You silly woman, die," for the consensus of Milgram fans. They deliberately diffuse it even though they understand it to be untrue. By doing so, Milgram fans are unable to say anything and those who voted "Unforgiveness" think they can win the argument. The fight hurt many Milgram fans, as did "Forgiveness" and "Unforgiveness". If the same situation continues, it is certain that Japanese Milgram fans will be less likely to show up. Comments are no longer reflected due to defects, so I will resubmit them.
Thanks for explaining! I saw something about this floating around, but didn't quite understand. But now I got a full picture. This...really sucks. Like in a sense, the votes on Kazui are now tainted. I hope these people will get bored and stop these careless votes and fights before the voting period ends...
@@batrex_ I'm sorry, but I can't give you her username. If you mention a woman's name here, it is possible that she will be slandered. I think it creates unnecessary conflict.
here's hoping i can score the same win as a major hardcore haruka trans truther, lmao (hell: a lot of the reasons i think harukas talking about being closet trans use the same language as kazui's, right down to the most telling 'I realize the futility, but I still can’t help but dream' in this very song having a big old '01' behind ig)
A small thing to remember: This is a window into the prisoner's consciousness. According to the actual interview, Kazui actively villainizes himself for his wife's death, though he didn't appear to murder her directly. To quote @astuffedalpaca5365 's summary of the actual interview: Kazui's lies did not kill her. It was his honesty. Something he was hiding came to light, and for his wife, it was devastating. Is he wrong for not being honest with her for whatever this secret was? Yes. But, understanding the context, whatever he hid, it was clearly something he's struggled with since he was little - something he tried to be honest about but was burned badly enough that he felt he couldn't be genuine. Period. It's clear his sin wasn't murder. It's clear his sin wasn't cheating, at least not in his eyes. So whatever it is, there's much more depth and nuance to this situation than we actually have proper analysis for. All sides are not clear. It is still too early to confirm his crime indefinitely. He may just be painting himself as the villain in order to cope. Again, this may be how *he* sees himself. Does it justify any of this? Probably not. Should he have entered a relationship if he wasn't prepared to be mentally and emotionally vulnerable and honest? No, but it's definitely something to consider before voting him guilty. We've all made mistakes in our relationships. Does him being honest with himself and his partner make him automatically at fault?
Sorry but just to clarify on the "actively victimizes" part, are you saying that he is using his wife's death to hurt himself further? Because i did read it as "actively villainizes himself". Which also makes sense.
@@doublesplit234 I meant to put villainize but yes you're right. it goes both ways. He's hurting himself with his wife's death because he sees himself as the villain in this story.
I mean I’m voting him guilty mostly because I believe his whole thing stems from greed and ignorance and a desire for money even at the cost of other people, but I’m also conflicted as it seems he regrets his actions
THEORY/QUICK ANALYSIS POST WATCHING : I could be wrong but the Green Apple is, for me, Kazui's True Self. Seeing himself like a bad apple -> Faking / lying about his love but also his true feelings toward his relationship and seeing it all, being tired of it. I feel like both of them are victims of their relationship, but more of his wife. Kazui went too fast with her without knowing his feelings toward her while her Wife seemed to already have a crush on him. Kazui continued the lies" and tricks" for her sake but ignored himself in the process. So basically, I think their Break-up wasn't "sweet" but kinda brutal from Kazui who probably went savage in his words. But I don't see him going violent physically over this. Tho IMPORTANT POINT I FEEL LIKE IT'S IMPORTANT TO TAKE NOTE: Her wife Felt Backward. I don't think she would have "thrown herself" like that so 2 Possibilities : - She felt by accident -> Feared Kazui - She was pushed by Kazui I'm not sure about this, so I might be extremely wrong Then, my conclusion -> If he did not push her -> Innocent -> If he did pushed her -> OverGuilty
Hmm. You have a rather interesting perspective. Can I ask you about the other things in the video? At the beginning,we see Kazui and his ex-wife do some kind of police or detective work. From that short time, something keeps bugging me... Isn't Kazui work in-... No,going back to the topic, there is also the scene when he confess he likes someone. But it's after the wedding,no even the scene when he purposes to her. It can be his wife, but why he would say this, when they are already a married couple? I don't want to say it's definitely it,but I think he said it to somebody else. The glass was dropped, the alcohol in it went everywhere, and the tricks and the bird died.I also think Kazui in the end told about his lies,but... Here is the question: What was the cause? What happened? Or rather: Who was it who triggered the change? Or just Kazui got tired of lying after so much time? Or it was something else? Also, the cigarette sure is a important thing in this. His face... After that, aren't you think it's strange? We are seeing things in his perspective. After his wife fell,he did not pay attention much,he looked at the word-body behind (?) her. He also doesn't look down. If she fell, then he should look at the prey by looking down. But he looks straightforward at us. I think there is something strange about this. I think it isn't this simple... Anyway,I apologise if I offended you in any way,it wasn't my intention. I just read your theory, and thought I would like to have a conversation with you about the other scenes too,and maybe recive answers. I am not good at things like this,so... If you don't mind, can you tell me about these things in your- Ah,of course just in that case you like to do so! Sorry if I said something wrong...
Well, I personally think he's actually gay, because a green apple could be the male gender, while the red apple is the female gender. He also has quotes as "I can't be normal, I can't satisfy this feeling" which I think also points towards that possibility. Also also: I think that him tearing up the bird with his teeth is symbolic of him tearing their marriage apart. But your pushing observations are quite good, I must say. also also also, in half, he bites the green apple, which supports my theory cuz he finally indulged in his desires. okie done.
@@foderis8777make sense. Also in the first trial (on the same part where he bites the apple) we see two frames of a balcony, one with her wife and one without her wife. We already knew what happened in between.
@aponiahermeline ! First of all, don't worry I won't take badly what you said and you're even right to tell them! Like I said, I'm probably wrong. Welp, you're right. There is probably some cheating (Whatever if it's a man or a woman!). For me, it's more about that Kazui "loves" too easily or is quick to ack depending on his feelings -> The marriage seems to have happened really soon in their relation For me, the case of Kazui is that it's someone who acts on his feelings too quickly without taking time to consider them and he regretted them after his marriage. Whatever if he cheated or not, with a man or a woman. I think him eating/biting the apple is him admitting his trueself -> His true feelings / his bittersweet feelings (Of not loving her) to himself so then his wife. I feel like if there was someone precise about the cheating, that person would be more "under the spotlight" in the MVs but there are just possible viewable hints. I think him admits his feelings (Sometimes, admitting our own feelings can be "horrible feelings" to others so that's why we lie after all). I think the Cigarette scene is for him to "Take a breath" as he said, he breathes then exhale his true feelings (But it's just a "first idea") Yea for his Wife dying, for me it's confusing, so there's a high chance it's an Accident or she just throw herself without him knowing. (Hope I was clear enough, I'm writing on the phone while being on a bus haha!)
I want everyone to know that NO, Kazui didn't cheat. His newest voice drama makes it very clear he didn't cheat and what he was lying and sinning about is very different. The scene we see at the end is also likely from his wife's POV when he told her the truth and how she saw him. In the end, the truth is that Kazui lied to his wife about something for years and finally came clean about it. Her reaction was drastic and it likely resorted in her suicide. Kazui never meant for this to happen and seems to regret ever trying to be honest. We aren't told what he's lying about but it can be several things. Maybe he's actually gay, maybe he's asexual, maybe he just doesn't love her or maybe he isn't the type who wants to be tied down. Maybe he only views her as a friend? We don't know. What we do know is everything I said above and that he's a very broken man about it all.
just remembered the milgram team looks at all the theories we put out and will even comment on them when this trial concludes. i wonder what they'll say about so many people thinking kazui is gay, lmao
I hope the creators of milgram address the unfairness that's going on with kazui's voting . Seriously mass voting while not knowing about the character and bribery shouldn't be allowed
Same, although they'll probably let it slide as this happens in real life too. Though they might make a statement based on it for next time that would affect said character perhaps...
Considering that their intro video said that people can vote based on anything, including just finding the characters attractive, they probably won’t. They may have the character respond to this though.
I'd like to point out this song is completely produced by Rockwell alone (besides the lyrics). I feel like they don't get enough credit for the songs they work on, so it's nice to see solo work from them. EDIT: Rockwell actually produced MeMe, Backdraft and Triage all himself too, so this is actually the fourth song he made by himself. This man deserves way more credit.
If he gets guilty cause of the "unforgiven shrine "the entire integrity of the project just goes down the drain since it will no longer be "analyze this video and make your own choice" but instead it will just become a series of "what does the biggest influencer want to happen to each character" I really hope the team does something about this cause otherwise Ill just look back at Milgram with a mindset of wasted potential
I noticed this issue before but I'm glad there's finally ppl talking ab it... MILGRAM voting system is a problem and it's not ab the characters themselves anymore or their crime it's just petty voting...
all the people of the unforgiven shrine are crazy. imagine if someone bought all the tickets of ur favorite kpop group just to leave an empty stadium? you're all insane and cruel for ruining such a good project.
I’m sorry but didn’t Jackalope say we can vote on whatever basis we desire? Sure you can personally find it frustrating that they voted him guilty for an arbitrary reason but imo this isn’t any more disappointing than people voting on the basis of a character’s attractiveness lol (Which has been a constant motivation behind many of the votes thus far.) Plus, I wouldn’t say the project is being “ruined” I bet the creator’s will make things interesting no matter the verdict.
@@obeyocean7482 he did but i wouldn't be surprised if bribery enabled by superstitions wasn't really what he meant. metavoters and the unforgiven shrine are the same to me, both don't actually care about the project and the consequences to the characters in the slightest. the unforgiven shrine has the intention to harm the project without a care for the people participating OR the characters, just to fuel their own agenda. metavoters are annoying, and the unforgiven shrine is intentionally causing harm to the votes. I'd love if the creators would do something about this, but as you said, jackalope told us to vote on any basis. this makes it unlikely they'll do something to the votes. so when votes are being polluted indefinitely and jackalope might not even do much, it ruins the project for the better half.
@@user-pw7kf4pc1e How is it not applicable? We weren’t ever told what WASN’T allowed in terms of voting. My personal theory is that MILGRAM is just a social experiment meant to see what drives people to vote, no matter how strange and unrelated. And we’ve already been shown that meta voting is an acceptable means of motivation. You don’t have to know anything about the character’s MVs or personalities to vote on the basis of a character’s appearance, right? Yet it was still accepted as a voting option. Either way this is still engagement for MILGRAM no matter how you look at it. Bribing people to interact with the project will inevitably make people see it even if it’s for a second. If the creator’s have a problem with this voting criteria I’m sure they will say something about it. Until then I guess we’ll just have to deal with it. And hate to break it to the people who want this to cease, but this is something to be expected with ANY instance of voting, you can call it unfair but there hasn’t been a single example of a voting system that doesn’t have shallow voter motivation. There will always be people who vote for whatever reason they desire because we were given FREE WILL.
@@user-pw7kf4pc1e There’s never been any evidence to suggest that we are forbid from voting with any means we want. Yet you and many others have decided that this behavior is ‘unjust’ or ‘unreasonable’. You are the ones making assumptions about the project with no statements to prove your beliefs. Jackalope may have pushed us to watch the MVs, but that doesn’t imply that not doing so is ‘cruel’. I mean he literally said it would be a hassle to not just guilty all of them lol… Like I said, the creators likely anticipated something like this would happen, hence why they allowed the criteria for voting to be so lenient. Because realistically in a system where we are told to vote innocent or guilty with nothing more than a twitter account needed, it’s common sense that something like this would happen. You can’t name a single voting instance in the history of the internet without similar events conspiring. + This instance isn’t exclusive to Kazui’s T2 vote either, this is likely just the largest instance of this occurring, and yet there’s still been no statement to sway people from voting with meta reasoning. I’ll say this again, you can be as bitter as you want about it but the realistic truth is that this is inevitable when it comes to the allowance of free will. And I think the creator’s know this much themselves.
in Japanese its Kyougen Kyougen is usually played within Noh (another form of Japanese theatre, Nogaku), and is supposed to be an "intermission" sequence that happens in-between Noh. While Noh is formal, symbolic, and solemn, has serious singing/dancing, Kyougen is "comedic" - the main goal is to make the audience laugh. More elements of Kyougen include "stock characters (less than three actors)" and elements of slapstick and satire. It's interesting to note that actors in Kyougen don't wear masks unless you play as an animal (or a god) so this can explain why the second song makes it sound playful and that he sees himself as not human somewhat like a Cat a animal of misfortune
Kazui is such a tangled mess of a character you can barely understand anything about him and the more you try to understand him, the more confusing it gets. I came in thinking I’d finally get some answers and I got out knowing less then I did before. Thinking about it, this MV has so many different interpretations and it doesn’t seem like anyone can agree on what actually happened right now which makes things even more convoluted, as that’d probably change the opinion on the verdict.
police officer, married his partner (out of need for cover/genuine feelings) unknown, falls out of love with her and has an affair, probably with another man, wife kills hersel/he kills her. that bout it.
@@neidhardt8093 that'd actually make it tragic, he decides not to go through with the affair, but as he comes home his wife has already committed suicide. Jesus 😐
@@phimau8104or, he marries her to hide the fact he's gay, cuz we see his family being very supportive as he sings about camouflage. But ye rest checks out
Kazui Theory I believe at first Kazui wanted only a pure passionate relationship, this is because the partner is really the only one who is blushing throughout the entire video. The relationship overall just seems extremely rushed, the couple takes a car and it could be symbolism to rushing a relationship because the marriage is shortly after. I likely believe that Kazui forces himself into thinking he likes his partner but it seems that he doesn’t like the commitment. Feeling trapped, he feels that he may have rushed things and that he wants to have something else. The cheating itself is likely something he wanted to repress because he felt that it would be shameful. The apple represents the temptation itself, apples are often seen with temptation and lust because of the symbolism it has of the Eden Garden and how Eve bit the apple. I believe that when Kazui bites the dove or whatever, it signals him cheating. When he says that he wanted to be loved like a cat then it likely means that he wanted to have a love that wasn’t held down or anything, something free I guess. Maybe it’s cause he liked the thrill but not really the commitment. Anyways the wife realizes that this isn’t the man she believed she married so she ends up jumping off a roof. The reason I believe so is because I believe that Kazui’s part in Undercover with the sillohuetes are outside and that in the end the apple falls down along with her signaling she jumped. Overall, it’s honestly really sad and tragic.
I can't help but feel conflicted. I feel bad for him, but I still want to vote him guilty. This truly is a good theory, and I applaud you for making this though.
I truly and wholeheartedly believe he pushed her himself. Maybe by accident in a fight, or maybe she threatened she'll reveal his true face and destroy his reputation, so he did it to silence her - I'm closer to believing the second option. There's already Mahiru's boyfriend and Futa's cyberbullying victim, I simply think we're going over the "suicide" quota with yet another case. It'd be boring and repetitive. Just let him be a two-faced asshole (gay or not, doesn't matter, I myself consider him guilty).
I don’t know about you guys but now I’m just 98% sure Kazui is gay. All the lyrics about lying to yourself, hiding and being a master of masquerade? Also the scene at 1:47 seems like a pretty obvious clue. I’m not sure about the apple symbolism but I think I’ve read somewhere the red apple represents women/femininity and the green one stands for men? Might be wrong, but it would fit. I still think he’s innocent and he didn’t actually kill his wife - it seems like he just told her the truth in the end after falling in love with a man (at the bar? The barkeeper?) and maybe then she did something to herself but I think the only thing he actually “killed” was his marriage. I’ll wait for his voice drama but for me it all speaks for Innocent. Edit: Also the “I can’t stop, I can’t be normal” line? That’s just what every queer person in denial is telling themselves. I’ve been there. You try so hard to be “normal”, you force yourself into believing you have feelings for someone of the opposite gender, forcing yourself into a “normal” relationship, hoping you can change.
@@agnesteodocio746 YES I don’t understand how this theory is not talked about more, even in the first MV, his Q&A and such, the signs were definitely there
Let me put it into perspective that green apple motif from Half is theorized to represent temptation, and here, lyrics imply Kazui succumbing into it to the detriment of his wife, visually shown with him biting into the dove as the final straw that broke the marriage, and worse, his wife’s life. My own take is that the suit made it obvious enough that it was an unspoken male, and the green apple covering the face shows Kazui’s innate (implied) lust for him

I need to see this now
Over a year later, I want to say something about the dove.

Kazui would think that for sure, just like being gay doesn't change the fact that he is a human but he can't stop thinking that is because of that the reason why his family hates him, Hinako killed herself and he were there alone only with his lies...
it also shows that he is fruity. bravo milgram
I think these are some really nice theories.

HEAR ME OUT HEAR ME OUT.
So everyone is saying "he ate the bird he ate the bird"
The dove at the end is actually the ring.
"I want to be loved just like a cat" im still not sure what exactly that means but again, it could be the attention and affection you put into your cat maybe if its like a street cat, you feed it and pet it without any attachment and such.
well at least it wasnt a dead dove
I think your right but I also think at the same time the dove also represents his "trick" (him lying about how he felt) and eating it could then also show how he maybe revealed the information thus destroying his trick and the marriage

Rather than the “homosexuality” part shouldnt it be about lying about it ?
@@kishistuff1376yeah it would likely be constantly lying and with the "why cant i be normal" thinking he needs to repress it till it came out and so his wife realized that the entire time it wasnt real love from him, it was just him using her and then instead of being honest with her keeping the lies up.
I dont understand the green apple being homosexuality
Can someone explain please?
A comment I saw somewhere else said that the green apple appearing over his head in that scene might have been a reference to "The Son of Man" painting by Magritte, and looking at what the painter said about that, it seems to fit thematically with Kazui's whole deal:
"You have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden, the face of the person. It's something that happens constantly. Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present."
So I don't think the apple itself isn't a representation of him being gay necessarily, more just of his hidden nature, his facade.
right before this "what if i said i like like you" scene you could hear the drink being prepared too.... 👀

SORRY THIS IS SO FUNNY GKFKFKDK I WANT THAG TO HAPPEN
He’s going to be hearing “homosexual homosexual gay gay gay homosexual” every time he goes to sleep.
if he is gay though he wanted that bartender from half carnally
Why does everyone believe in the gay theory?? It just does not make any sense. Everyone is thinking too much!! He's just a manipulative liar who masks his true self. "I want to be normal"? *It's all lies.* Why do you all believe it? He confesses to lying yet everyone believes everything he says? He just wants to be loved like a cat. Someone that is loved unconditionally, someone who is cherished, someone who is loved in the way he wants or when he wants, just like a cat.
@@gremin9541OMG YOU'RE RIGHT. I FORGOT THAT THEY CANONICALLY HEAR US.
I wanted to be loved just like a cat"に現れているから、この曲の本題ってこのワンフレーズに込められてるんじゃないかな……

I agree
@ew-xm9vs I’m glad you agree! I, too, understand that we shouldn’t force people to watch MVs, but in terms of views, there is definitely a lot of bias between characters. A lot of people choose not to watch certain MVs/trailers simply because they don’t find the character attractive or likable, and I think that sucks, because I think we should support the team regardless :')

(You can hear the word Kyougen being sung everytime the word Masquerade pops up in the lyrics.)
Kyougen is usually played within Noh (another form of Japanese theatre, Nogaku), and is supposed to be an "intermission" sequence that happens in-between Noh.
- Kyougen can also mean a "fabricated story that is a lie"/"something done to deceive people and gain profit from them"
- Kyougen is a dialogue based drama, does not use complex equipment, and places emphasis through words and gestures
- Stories are taken from every day life/folktales as its subject matter, focusing on human habits and essence
-much of the humor comes from a clear understanding that the characters are not acting properly, which is very different from a masquerade. look up "kyougen laughter" to see what i mean.
This was very helpful and interesting, thank you!!
its also an ado album (in general milgram translations take Certain Liberties and id always recommend reading up on other interpretations)
it depends if he's forgiven or not
more information on kyougen from someone who just studied it as part of a japanese class in japan this summer:
-much of the humor comes from a clear understanding that the characters are not acting properly, which is very different from a masquerade. look up "kyougen laughter" to see what i mean.
-the satire in kyougen usually involves the deception of privileged individuals, like nobles or kings.

Very good point!
This is a great analysis!!!
That’s incredible omg
Personally another extremely striking thing with the artstyle in the context of the song being about lying is one that's easy for us, as EN viewers to overlook:
It's filled to the brim with the song's lyrics displayed on screen...but they're in English.

This is my favorite theory so far, i thought something very simillar
There is something I want people outside of Japan to know.
Kazui's vote is divided because of problems among Japanese fans.
A female Kazui fan called on non-Mirgram fans to vote for "Unforgiveness" because she wanted to see Kazui suffering.
The people who were approached were mainly fans of Japanese and Korean idols. They seemed to win tickets for the idol's front row seats or receive fan service. They mistake it for "something good happened because they didn't forgive Kazui."
It is clear that the reason for voting is not because of love or consideration for characters, but because of mysterious superstitions.
This is considered a problem among Japanese fans.
Fans who did not like it are at odds with them by voting "Forgiveness."
Some of them don't want to forgive Kazui.
I wrote, "Those who voted for 'no forgiveness' think there are good things about voting for Kazui."
They call it "Unforgiveness Shrine" and spread it.
We will exclude new users like us."
Not all of Milgram's fans are bad people, nor are they avoiding them because they are new users.
Milgram's fans became intolerable and began tweeting: "I don't think organized votes are good."
Then those who voted "Unforgiveness" began to attack the fans.
The fans are just expressing their opinions, and they don't say anything offensive to the other person, such as "You die."
However, those who voted "Unforgiveness" don't seem to like the opposition.
Thank you for letting us know about what's going on in the Japanese community 🙏🙏 no wonder why his percentage is unstable
Thanks for explaining! I saw something about this floating around, but didn't quite understand. But now I got a full picture.
This...really sucks. Like in a sense, the votes on Kazui are now tainted. I hope these people will get bored and stop these careless votes and fights before the voting period ends...

Where to watch interview?
What do you think about the theory that he is gay?
I mean I’m voting him guilty mostly because I believe his whole thing stems from greed and ignorance and a desire for money even at the cost of other people, but I’m also conflicted as it seems he regrets his actions
THEORY/QUICK ANALYSIS POST WATCHING :
I could be wrong but the Green Apple is, for me, Kazui's True Self.
I don't think she would have "thrown herself" like that so 2 Possibilities :
- She felt by accident -> Feared Kazui
- She was pushed by Kazui
I'm not sure about this, so I might be extremely wrong
Then, my conclusion
-> If he did not push her -> Innocent
-> If he did pushed her -> OverGuilty
If you don't mind, can you tell me about these things in your-
Ah,of course just in that case you like to do so!
@@asrielluke3465 and we see a shattered red apple at the end as well
@aponiahermeline ! First of all, don't worry I won't take badly what you said and you're even right to tell them! Like I said, I'm probably wrong.
Welp, you're right. There is probably some cheating (Whatever if it's a man or a woman!). For me, it's more about that Kazui "loves" too easily or is quick to ack depending on his feelings
-> The marriage seems to have happened really soon in their relation
For me, the case of Kazui is that it's someone who acts on his feelings too quickly without taking time to consider them and he regretted them after his marriage.
I think the Cigarette scene is for him to "Take a breath" as he said, he breathes then exhale his true feelings (But it's just a "first idea")
Yea for his Wife dying, for me it's confusing, so there's a high chance it's an Accident or she just throw herself without him knowing.
(Hope I was clear enough, I'm writing on the phone while being on a bus haha!)

Kazui your not suppost to eat the dove! what will the ao3 tags think!?
NO YOU DIDNT SAY THIS
I want everyone to know that NO, Kazui didn't cheat.

I keep looking at the results and it's crazy
what's going on with the voting?
I agree, but all we can really do now is keep voting for kazui each day we have a free vote. It's almost at 50/50 right now
I'd like to point out this song is completely produced by Rockwell alone (besides the lyrics). I feel like they don't get enough credit for the songs they work on, so it's nice to see solo work from them.
EDIT: Rockwell actually produced MeMe, Backdraft and Triage all himself too, so this is actually the fourth song he made by himself. This man deserves way more credit.

all the people of the unforgiven shrine are crazy. imagine if someone bought all the tickets of ur favorite kpop group just to leave an empty stadium? you're all insane and cruel for ruining such a good project.
I’m sorry but didn’t Jackalope say we can vote on whatever basis we desire? Sure you can personally find it frustrating that they voted him guilty for an arbitrary reason but imo this isn’t any more disappointing than people voting on the basis of a character’s attractiveness lol (Which has been a constant motivation behind many of the votes thus far.)
Plus, I wouldn’t say the project is being “ruined” I bet the creator’s will make things interesting no matter the verdict.
“Lie, until it gets better, follow the king of the masquerade” EXCUSE ME?! KAZUI WHAT😨 IS THIS WHY HE WORE A MASQUERADE MASK
in Japanese its Kyougen
Kyougen is usually played within Noh (another form of Japanese theatre, Nogaku), and is supposed to be an "intermission" sequence that happens in-between Noh. While Noh is formal, symbolic, and solemn, has serious singing/dancing, Kyougen is "comedic" - the main goal is to make the audience laugh. More elements of Kyougen include "stock characters (less than three actors)" and elements of slapstick and satire. It's interesting to note that actors in Kyougen don't wear masks unless you play as an animal (or a god)
so this can explain why the second song makes it sound playful and that he sees himself as not human somewhat like a Cat a animal of misfortune

Kazui Theory
I believe at first Kazui wanted only a pure passionate relationship, this is because the partner is really the only one who is blushing throughout the entire video.
Just let him be a two-faced asshole (gay or not, doesn't matter, I myself consider him guilty).

hes innocent and NOONE can prove me wrong
