This is brilliant, thank you! I'm doing the Hpat for the 3rd time (cry)...its not the Hpat thats catching me out though, its the written essay component for SLT course in University of Limerick.
Thank you for watching! I wish I could help you with the written section but my knowledge is limited in that regards. But i think practicing writing
LC English essays might help you? Things like knowing how to structure an essay, link your paragraphs, present your ideas and add relevant information might also improve your essay.

I feel like I'll do better in section 1 and 2 rather than 3 because I spent a lot of time reading books pretty much all throughout my life which really improved my verbal reasoning skills :)
Another book/author that I would really recommend is "I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that" by Ben Goldacre. It's a book of collected journalism from the 10 years that he spent writing columns in The Guardian. It's basically him taking unsubstantiated claims in science by the media and completely ripping apart the cited study or line of reasoning.
He also has a website where all his columns are free to read. I think reading it has really improved my critical thinking :)
Hi james, thats a fantastic recommendation and I must say I read more news and articles than fictional books which I think really helped my section 1 and critical thinking !
Also dw sec 3 is quite doable and you never know might even become your best 😉😉I hope the best for your hpat :)

I'm doing my HPAT next year and I am a bit sceptical as per whether or not the Medentry workshop, or any workshop that is, is worthwhile.
What do you think speaking from experience?

about the workshop, the 2 day workshop from my opinion wasn't worth the price...the only thing i found beneficial was the timed exam practise they had on the 2nd day, other than that i found what they were saying was already said in their guides on medentry portal. I think if practised well the online portal is enough to secure a good score

@@jenniferaniboh4665 i think if u r in 6th year and as early as possible...start now i guess? but if u are in 5th yr then you have some time to spare :)

Thank you for the support ❤ If you are referring to thinking a to z then i bought it from website ' book depository'. In regards to yt channels, I didn't have a specific one rather I would just search critical thinking/logical reasoning and watch a bunch of videos to get a hang of it. How much did your results improve between your first practice exam/drills and your actual exam? Were you doing well from the beginning?
not at all, my practice scores were all over the place sometimes I was getting 90th percentiles and most times 50th lol so I wouldn't trust them, in the real exam I got 80th

Thanks for your very useful video ! I have some questions :
- I am in the process of applying for medicine in Ireland and therefore need to prepare the HPAT TEST. Do you think the time remaining till the February session is sufficient to practice and get a good score ?
- can I buy the practice test ebooks from ACER after my registration or can I do it only during the registration?
- Would you say ACER practice test is enough to have a good score (as it is the only official practice material) or should I also consider medentry ?
- English is not my first language. Would you say the level of English for HPAT is hard or normal ?

1. The time till feb should be enough but I can't comment on how likely you are to get a good score. But it is good enough time to prepare for hpat.
2. yes you can buy after registration
3. yes for some people acer is enough practice but for many they need more practice material so they opt for courses like medentry
4. English is also not my 1st language and I did well in hpat. What matters is how good your grasp of English is not whether English is your first language!

@@sorayaouhaibia6583 when it comes to English, I would say that section 2 may be just a little tough. I say this because alot of emotive language is used and to be able recognize and understand the meanings of these words help with section 2👍

Is HPAT Ireland similar to HPAT Ulster? Would I benefit from purchasing some HPAT Ireland practice tests for practice?
hmm I haven't had experience with hpat ulster but from what i read it is different from hpat ireland. It is also used for allied health courses such as physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiography, Speech & Language Therapy etc and not for medicine.
I am not too sure how beneficial hpat ireland practice questions would be for you 🤔
KiMai thank you for your reply... I understand the papers are expensive to purchase and I’m not sure if it would be worth the money especially if it won’t be beneficial
yes they are expensive and generally not even up to the difficulty standard of the real hpat exam so best to avoid them for now

171 in my hpat which was 81 percentile 😊
What’s the recommended time to start preparing for the HPAT prior to the exam in February.
hi its all individual, i can only give you guidelines, you will have to tailor your prep time according to how much u think u need to prep for it.
Putting that aside, i think this summer is a great way to get your mindset right, plan your prep, analyze your weakness and start practicing skills such a critical thinking, time management etc.

Thank u for replying I’ve heard psychometric testing books are good but will they be of any use in your opinion? And what Medentry package would u recommend?
@@favour216 hmmm i have had a few of those books but honestly in my opinion they were not that helpful...I think its better to spend that time either perfecting your skills or familiarizing yourself to hpat qs.
For medentry i did the workshop package both times, however i don't recommend the workshop, only the time exam was good

@@oumaimamamoun4121 Hello, it depends you need to contact the uni you want to apply to and explain your situation, and then they will tell you if they want you to pass the HPAT or not.

Is the Acer practice exam number one quite easy in comparison to the real thing?
Honest answer yes it is. They are old questions they have stopped using while the real thing is harder, questions are longer and more complicated. However acer exams are a good way of getting into hpat and practising exam techniques 👍

@@danieldeburgh8437 well that would depend on you. Ask yourself whether you feel confident enough with just acer? If not then yes get more material. If cost is of a concern for you then i recommend looking around for other services as well, Medentry is not the only one. I talk more about medentry because I have more experience with it and dont know much about other companies. I always advocate for doing more research for yourself 😌

i used med entry courses so i have experience of it only...finding free hpat resources online is hard...med entry website has a blog section that could help
