  • Dave reviews the Mini Clubman Cooper S. It's big, loud and grey. Just like him.

    Quite possibly one of the best analogies I'm ever heard "a kangaroo with piles sitting on a bed of nails"

    All I know is, I love my 2011! All of what you say is true! One thing I've experienced, is that when you accelerate hard, the car's power will snap your head back! The hard part, is the suspension is a bit stiff! I've driven it from San Jose, CA to Salem, OR... over 500 mi! It is a comfortable car to drive, but a bumpy road you're going to feel it!

      Hi, I’m looking at a 08 clubman s with 140k miles runs pretty good only thing wrong so far is ac doesn’t work, they want $2500 for it , u think it’s a good deal?? How about reliability??? Thanks in advance, I do a lot of long trips so I want to make sure this is right

      @@Mrwinecontreras I have this car apparently the N14 Peugeot engine isn't as reliable. Mine was pretty good for a few months to a year, although I had the clutch go. I think it was adjusted too tight and disengaged easily and the extra tension going to the floor might have stretched the clutch components. I have a slow oil loss from the turbo. Also a slow loss of coolant. These can be topped up but it is a pain. Opening up the front after a drive there seems to be more heat than I'm used to feeling in a car engine, though perhaps it's the turbo and exhaust manifold. Doing the same test on a 1 litre fiat 500, everything felt comparatively lukewarm.
      It has been over a few potholes. I have revved it up all the way to the limiter when up to operating temperature a few times on drives which were otherwise more sedate. I wouldn't feel confident running at continuous high power on a track event in case another seal started leaking. Also any low speed high engine power requirements I'd shy away from (though apart from silly burnouts and doughnuts, uphill caravanning might be the only scenario this happens).
      Make sure your passengers don't catch the driver seatbelt in the side door and slam it.
      Make sure you don't park too close to the kerb. That front bumper is easy to damage.
      Mine is just over 90k miles.

      The trim literally is 'Cooper S', like in the title. The car is from early 2009.

    How stupid putting only one rear door that opens ,plus putting it on the right which in countries that are right hand drive which means rear passengers would have to get out of the vehicle in to the flow of traffic instead of the pavement (sidewalk) which would be left ,so really this car was designed intentionally for a left hand drive European market or U.S.

      @@eifionjones559 What I meant was that as I said if your in a right hand drive country as in the UK and you park on the left hand side of the road which would be normal as we drive on the left, OK the driver gets out OK but say they have children in the back its unsafe for kids to get out on a road instead of the pavement like a normal 4 door car , and as for your comment about your Riley with suicide doors when they was made there was hardly any traffic on the road so you had more chance of noticing something

    • @eifionjones559

      @@NUBBY39 or perhaps then people had common sense, perhaps the kids in the back could get out via the front passenger door as the seat does slide forward for this reason

    • @NUBBY39
      @NUBBY39 3 роки тому

      @@eifionjones559 Well that's pretty obvious to do,I use to do that with my kids when young and now do the same with my grandchildren, OK then if that's your solution why have the stupid extra third door anyway leave it two door like the original mini estate of the 60's was then ,its a pointless door TBH , and before you think I'm anti mini I myself own a R53 JCW.p

      You’re right - bmw said that to move the door to the “correct side” for the uk would mean they’d have to relocate the fuel tank and plenty of other things all in order to satisfy a market that isn’t big enough to make financial sense for the cost involved.
