    3 international breaks between September and November is ridiculous. I can understand players wanting to drop out.

  • @occasionalgoldfish
    @occasionalgoldfish День тому +14

    I think it's worth considering that Kane will get a winter break in Germany, whilst Premier League players won't. This could be a nice break for the Prem Lot and they could need the rest

  • @Pat-The-Fat

    I like how at no point of this podcast no one mentioned why the hell we have 3-4 international breaks in mid November ?

    They're dropping out of glorified friendlies, not official EUROs/WC qualifiers, if it was the latter he'd have a point. These games were merely just friendles prior to the invention of the Nations League concept for UEFA's pockets, and they're now just glorified ones.

    • @EmirBanan
      @EmirBanan 18 годин тому

      The nations league was a great addition. Too many games all around, yes.. but the tournament is a lot more than friendlies and if you can’t see that then I don’t know.

      @@EmirBanan not a glorious tournaments. It's not euro nor WC,not many people watch it overseas.
      Kane can say that because in Germany there is winter break no such thing for EPL players.

    Can't believe the lack of critical thinking here.
    Some of these players are genuinely injured, don't make it seem like they've all bailed for no reason.
    1) Trent pulled his hamstring and came off after 20 minutes,
    2) Rice has a broken toe
    3) Shaw has been injured for months and isn't playing for United,
    4) Ramsdale had surgery on a fractured finger and didn't play for his club on the weekend
    So that is 4 of the supposed 9 that you're making a headline out of are injured, what do you expect them to do? They can't play.
    So you're down to 2 City players, Grealish and Foden, and Arsenal player in Saka, and 2 Chelsea players Colwill and Palmer. It is these 5 players that you're talking about, but you want to exaggerate it for headlines

    • @Gremunky
      @Gremunky День тому +1

      So more than half of the dropouts aren't injured? Sounds like a headline to me

      Yes, journalist wants headline. Asks Kane a loaded question. Kane gives answer that he's not so happy about it. The next day 'Kane is disgusted at England players who aren't playing for England' shocker!!!
      Modern media is a disgrace.

    Let’s be honest, absolutely nobody cares about international football outside of major tournaments. Even qualifiers have lost appeal due to expanded tournaments. The nations league is just another money grab that have turned meaningless friendlies where you could pick your opponents into semi competitive games against good opposition.

    Ridiculous for Carsley to complain about the lack of natural left backs in the England set up when Tyrick Mitchell has been playing premier league football at a decent standard week in, week out for years now.

  • @matthewdobson100
    @matthewdobson100 21 годину тому

    The FA told Carsley that he had the three international windows this autumn. I think it's actually a good thing they didn't reneg on this and stuck to their word. we don't know what contractual arangments and cost of not sticking to it are, can't be too high given Carsley was already the U21 coach (my organisatoin would call this a 'development opportunity' and not provide any additional salary!), so giving them the benefit of the doubt it was a moral choice, although the cynic in me thinks it was probably a financial one.

    At the end of the day, getting mad at other people for not sharing your particular set of priorities seems at best kinda childish to me. If Kane wants to say: 'Playing for England is the most important thing in the world to me, I wouldn't miss it for anything' then fair play to him, but it's also perfectly acceptable to my mind for other athletes have other priorities whether that's trying to maximise their financial gains from what is for many a short career at their peak earning potential. Or proving themselves in some other sporting context by wanting to be part of a club team, or any combination of these factors.

  • @GamerFlair
    @GamerFlair День тому

    Nearly all the players are legitimatly injured though.
    Rice has a broken toe. Saka has literally been injured for going on a fucking year now. Trent went off after 25 minutes with a hamstring and Ramsdale has a broken finger. Grealish I'm not sure, but given that his not exactly playing alot at City, theres no reason for him to skip it if his isn't injured.
    So that basically just leaves Foden, Colwill and Palmer who... are apparently injured despite not appearing to be in thier last game (I think Palmer had an issus going into the Arsenal game but he played the full match with no issue).
    City I suspect may have just gone fuck off. Pep probably needs to work with the squad to get things back on track (and overplaying has already arguably lost them Rodri, which is probably a big reason why they are suddenly in a bit of rut). Chelsea may be in a similar, but different boat, with the team performing far better then most were expecting, they probably just don't want to risk key members of thier squad in glorified friendlies. Honestly, I'd rather have a situation where teams on mass did this, then the usual where you get one or two teams that do it and then the teams that don't suffer for it. Does anyone realy care about these glorified friendlies, especially when its under a lame duck manager.

    Yes if he has read every medical report and can write a dissertation on the inability or the ability for each player to be available for 90 minutes and the type of injury or personal situation. Once he has done that analysis and summarized which I am sure he is has it is absolutely right. What happened when phil foden left the euros for the birth of a baby?
