You hear a lot when folk talking to VVD about facing the strikers of “back in the day.” It’s a conversation but I think if you look the bottom 10 teams between 1990-2010 you’re probably talking Championship level. You wouldn’t see the likes of Wolves and Bournemouth signing Porto’s best players
The levels have dropped from the top teams so its more competitive but that doesnt mean its a better quality league. The levels of city and liverpool between 2018 and 2022 were ridiculous.
I often think this. Your average players today would be upper percentile back in the day. And people who disagree are just nostalgic because it was when they were nippers watching the prem 10-20 years ago.
Ya I think most current day full backs would be decent wingers 20/30 years ago as getting to the byline and putting it in the box was what most teams asked their wide players to do. Kyle walker would have 15 assists a season.
There are folk out there arguing it’s not the strongest league but when you’ve got Wolves and Nottingham Forest signing Atletico Madrid players that’s when you know. In the past your Pablo Fornals, your Solers, your Cunha’s, Tonalis, Munozs, Semenyos don’t come near England. Then you have players like Bowen, Watkins, Rashford who are either paid so well that they don’t feel the need to move or clubs can’t justify spending money to get them out.
So at the beginning of the week, an article goes out clamouring for the 2000’s all over again, and now you’re saying that the league is stronger than ever…
A league with such corrupt officiating in games week in week out cannot be be talking about quality, how do you measure quality when the league is laced with bad Officiating
Nick Millers stuttering boils my blood.... I promise I'm not trying to be mean, my best mate also does it and it really gets under my skin, I'd rather you just spoke at a snails pace than struggling to get the words out brother
As an Evertonian I can't help but notice they stopped just before they got to Everton when discussing redeeming qualities of the teams at the bottom 😂

The average player is fitter and better than the average in the 2000s so the top players don’t stand out as much. Better ≠ more entertaining

Most of the heavyweight games have been garbage.
Mid table matchups have been great.
If Liverpool win the league the narrative will be it's the weakest premier league Liverpool won it in 19/20 🤣🤣 I guarantee it
Maybe Jumbos will say it but I don’t think it’ll be on this channel.

Yep.
Those aren’t exclusive opinions
It’s absolutely not the best it’s ever been
I used to like the Athletic until they started utilising predatory pricing strategies to take my money. I guess i'm the sucker right?
United have been dreadful yet they are 4 points off 3rd . Sporting just wiped the best team in the league not sure the league is that good

My Sunday league has good officials doesn’t make it better than the prem
Mate.......have you seen other laliga😂? 😂😂😂😂
Series A in the 90s was 🔥🔥🔥but corruption ruined the league decades later......

Idk season by season, I feel like the football is getting more and more boring. Doesn't get me as excited and engaged as it used to.
