Nice been waiting on this dyno! Thanks👍💯
For the money you cant really argue with what you're still getting. The sk series from skar do great for the money. For a budget system I recommend this and wolfram
Good work, keep it up.
I'm running 2 of these right now, pushing 2 vxf 15s, and I really like them. They r strapped to 1 ohm, they sound beautiful, I upgraded from the RP line.
I know you said to 1 ohm but some guys word it different...are you putting 2 ohms in to see 1? Or 1 ohm in to see .5?
@@lowrider4life462 2 ohms to see 1 cuz it's strapped
@@lowrider4life462 parallel/series on 2 dual 2ohm 15 vxf skar

I have this amp in my 19 Silverado and my voltage at amp is 13.8-14.6 always. Great amp
Glad to see someone other than Skar themselves do this amp.
skar leaves out so much , like amps , certified runs , any run that dont make rated power .... thats called marketing and not showing the real truth , the dyno channels we watch are popular for not hiding the bullshit
Those are super-solid, heavy amplifiers. My homie had the SKV3500
so at 14.2v or 14.4v it didnt do rated power ? cuz 15.1v 1758rms just rough numbers seems like it would be below 1700
I would suggest to add an amp meter to your set up. That way we could calculate the amplifier efficiency.
Next vid will start utilizing current clamps
hell yea that will be nice ! its a huge factor many overlook
Thank you.
gave me a good idea about my parameters.
Although, mine wont see more than 14.3 volts ever on my old school optima red top and stock alt. ill be running mine at 2 ohms on a Single Orion 12.
Should definitely be good on existing wiring by what I see here.
Heck ya jason...nice lil amp..
Have u try n testing any amps at 12.6 that do rated
I was going to get this amp. But I ended up getting the Audio Legion 1600.1 Could you get that amp and do a dyno of it plz? It's a Korean board. And Ive seen dyno of there bigger models. But there isn't any on UA-cam of the 1600.1 If you do I'll post a link to your video on my channel when I do the unboxing so ppl can see what it does 👍💯
You sir. Have an awesome battery bench rack to test with at 15 volts ⚡️..you have the power to make power results to be expected with this charging voltage..amateurs like my Self stay on the 14 volt max
Multiply the 15v results by 0.93 and you would have a good idea of performance at 14v. Because I run amps as large as 10k, 12k, and 15k, having a stout lithium bank is a must for me, and to keep that bank healthy I do have to charge at about 15v.
Is this amp equal to Rockford fosgate in sound quality ?
Wow that cmax is got a ton more reserve than I thought it doesnt seem to hardly pull it down at all. I am buying the skv2 100.4 today I've seen ratings on it so what about a cerwin vega? Theres not many amp dynos on those n I've always been curious. Take care and thanks for making the video, glad your channel is growing
Cerwin Vega is still rebuilding their credibility. They lost that in the late 90s when they were bought out by a crap company that just wanted to slap their name and other brands on cheap mass produced garbage. Those companies are the reason these amp dynos exist.
@@1rexrex I heard the same thing. If they have a dyno run would get to the bottom of if theyre trying to improve or not
Great video man
👍
I just purchased this amp for 230 I sure hope it sounds better than my skar rp 2000.1
where did you buy it from? I can only find it for about 350$
@@mr.magicman8001 ebay it is used I just got it hooked up and it is extremely powerful
I just got mine used skar sk2 1500for 239 used ....
Nice It only missed the burst test, which they rated at 2.3k
Nice video, appreciate it 🔥🔥🔥
I like the fact it’s not a dynamic monster and just steady rms power
Your overlooking a very important aspect of an amps capability what it can do dynamically is more of what the amp will do on music and not just a stupid fart tone 🤦🏽♂️
Can i use 4 guage on it
I notice the RP series has a different starting voltage around 14.7 and the skv around 15 volts. Does the different voltages make a difference.
It does. The RP series can handle a maximum aperating voltage of 16 volts. My systems voltage stays steady at 14.8 volts, not bad. The amplifier will operate with a mere 8.5 volts. But you are going to loose a lot of power and your system will not run as long and especially loud. I have paid attention to the difference in sound. You will too. More volts, better sound. I just need to upgrade my alternator (revised)now, since I did everything else in the electrical. I can achieve the highest operational voltage giving full potential. Just like matching your input too output. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
power in = power out
Has anyone strapped 2 of these together on one sub? I have one on a vxf-15 and thinking about adding another to push the sub harder
I bought a new amp yesterday, when it finally gets here I want to bring a couple goodies over to test if your good with that. Do you have an spl meter?
Yessir!
@@Facekicker sweet! It'll prob be a week or week n a half depending on shipping
If you still have this amplifier could you redo the test at 0.5 ohm also? I’m currently using mine at 0.5ohm amd im curios what kind of power that thing is putting out
Will .5 ohm hurt your amp in the long run
@@docdreezy It could because the amplifier is only rated for 1 ohm, They say it is a competition grade amplifier and when I was running it at 0.5 ohm I had 2 skar sdr 12's in the trunk and a skar evl 15 in the backseat (2450 rms total) and it was so loud that I was heard 3 blocks away from the main light of my town.
@@docdreezy But to answer your question, yes it definitely can. But if you are being careful about making sure you're not clipping or running your equipment hot for too long, then you will be fine. It all comes down to user error no matter what you're doing.
I just started running mine at half ohm on a Resilient Sounds Onyx 12 with dual 1 ohm coils. Bridged to half ohm. The skv2 1500 barely gets warm after an hour of hard play time. I figure with impedance rise, im probably not really at half ohm anyway. It does very well.
@@robertholsopple9451 yeah definitely not a bad amp. The R2-1200 sounded a little bit cleaner to me so I went back to that one and then since have upgraded to a T2500.
Can someone help before I buy this amp. If I use this amp will I need a second battery/capacitor running off a stock 2014 Ford system and powering rockford fosgate dual 12 P3’s?
Second battery not a bad idea
My opinion is around 1,500 rms on stock charging/electrical is the max.
This amp is very powerful, but I returned it because the lower frequencies are a little muddy..... Went with a JL Audio amp, and let me tell you nite and day.... If you like low bass, you might get pissed after you hook it up.......
Which JL amp did you go with?
How watts rms will this run on 1.5 or 3 ohms? Im having a hard time trying to pair a amp with my jl 12w7 to get my full 1000 watts rms. I currently have a jl jx1000 but am maybe pushing 750 rms
Wired to 1.5 this would make almost double what the JX1000 does.
jx1000 rated power 1000w rms at 2ohm. better stay with your Jx amp. jx1000 can push more power than skv2 1500 does of any ohm load, im sure. jL audio amp always underrated power rating on they amp
Thanks but the problem is w7s are 1.5/3 ohms
This amp runs hot, I did hear maybe the recommended gauge wire is wrong for it.
The amp runs cool for us! We are an authorized dealer, have done extensive testing, and the factory recommendations are appropriate.
I've had mine for about 3 months now. It barely even gets warm to the touch after 1 hour of hard play time wired at 1 ohm. It definitely does not run hot.
Test at 12.6v
We have and people complained.
The new bank will be used at 15-15.5v only
@@Facekicker can you link 12v video ? And that sucks to hear !! cuz i sure dont want to see 15+v runs when this is a 12v industry . it inflates the numbers and we dont get to see the truth when the majority of car audio charges at 14.2v average , thats why companies rate at 14.2 , we might as well watch skars videos of marketing at that point . most of the good dyno videos start at 4ohm and go down also cuz it lets the amp heat up and we see what it does under normal play . the way some of us are going to see this is that its just another marketing channel .
What do you think of Skar DDX subwoofers being a subwoofer builder?
They're a great sub for simple daily use. Good for many applications, we sell a lot of DDX setups locally.
AWESOME subs and one of my favs in the 1000rms class. Good deal too.
Meant to be a direct competitor to the Sundown SA series.
99.9% of people using this amp will never come close to those voltages in their vehicles. But still quite impressive. Especially for the price.
Not true. Most of the people that run high power car stereos also use high output alternators that charge between 14.4v and 15v. My alt charges at 14.7 and so do a lot of others and can go as high as 15v in the winter when resistance is at its lowest
catch22frubert my mechman 400 amp alternator with 4 xs power 14 volt batteries charges at 14.7. But when I draw 700-800 amps of current it drops around 13. Most people’s charging system will maintain 14.3 with maybe 50 amp current draw. So yes it’s very true that these voltages are generally not maintainable for any period of time.
@billy bones many of us are running single lithium setups and charge in the 15v plus area.
My Honda is a daily driver with only a CMAX lithium, 250a alt and a few resistors, charging 15.5v. All of the factory electric system runs off the same battery and same voltage. Many people have similar setups.
exactly
I charge at 14.8 and I run 2 skv2 1500s strapped, 250 amp alt w/2 batteries
How to we set gain before dyno
The AD-1 has a DD1+ built in
So in a car you’ll prolly get 13.5 maybe 14 volts. I guess it might not make rated power. Unless you got extra batteries and an alternator.
You really won't see massive difference at 14v
I used to run skar amps but there are so many amps that put out far more now for the money. Not talking about Brazil or Chinese crap either. Now that being said they still make a good product for anyone getting to the next level.
Just be glad when 12volt amp tests become more standard cars are 12volt systems and 14.4aint gona hold after hamering your system volteg GONA drop in the red...10:12-13volts tops AND yes I know it takes power to make power be and alternates sent cheap 5-600 bucks for a well built unit (mcman)
16v testing coming soon
Let the truth be told show the numbers
I’d say is well over rated as it’s running at 15 volts at end of test
So realistically should be around the 930 on 13.8 - 14.4
You'll see 1500w out of it at 14.4v
How about around 12 or13
My vehicle doesn't charge wit that many volts
It could though
@@Facekicker wood in not be to much on the relays and fuses. I mean it's set up for 12 volts not 16.
@@alrightalrightalright- most vehicles are ok at 15v or slightly higher
@@Facekicker my ram requires a alt , external voltage regulator system and a dummy load for the dash and factory computer , your talking 1000+$ just to gain a volt . many will not be doing that in a 12v industry for a 1500w amp ..... why !?
Let's be realistic and run it at or around 14.4 volts. Very very few people will run that Amp above that.
All of our dynos will be done at approximately 15v. That is the new trend and it was highly requested we operate above 15v.
Above 14.4 is completely realistic these days. Most are running lithium and have voltage regulators.
Why would anyone buy this amp when the rp2000 makes more power for less money?? The only way it could be better is if it pulled a lot less amps at 1ohm which you dont show amps???
Because some people value Korean built boards, reliability, and sound quality.
Because the sk koreans are way better quality and last. It's not all about wattage man. People burn through rp2ks at a crazy rate. worst amp skar has
Rp sounds like shit. Get this amp it will sound much better and last longer
This would be great if my car ran at 15v
14v results won't be much lower if at all
@@Facekicker Most aftermarket alternators charge between 14.7 and 15v from what I've seen. My 300 amp alternator and the 250 amp before it both charged between 14.4 on the hottest days and 15v in the winter when resistance is at its lowest. 14.7v on an average spring day
@@catch22frubert @facekicker WHAT?! You guys are spreading misinformation. 14.0v will be a fair bit lower. Also, MOST modern alternators charge between 13.3-13.7v. MOST people aren't running aftermarket alternators. With an amp like this you really should be looking at the mass market and what they run, not the enthusiast segment. This is not an enthusiast amplifier.
@@Facekicker can you retest at 12v ?
@@MountainManGuy lol what are you even talking about, not an enthusiast amplifier?!? Please tell me what mass market store or website you can visit and grab Skar audio products. Bro, 15v is nowhere near realistic. I have this amp, and it sounds good, but also likes to distort like fucking crazy. For the money, 7/10..
The AD-1 only shows clean power with no distortion.
No, it is realist. Most Bass heads these days have lithium and an after market alt charging at atleast 14.8v.
Also an amp doesn't just distort unless you set it that way. Set your gain and crossovers correctly
Why not when doing a dyno run then run the voltage of what most car audio people will be using??? The only way anyone is can run those volts is if they are running 14 volt batteries with 16 volt alternators to charge them. All true dyno runs should be at 14 volt where most car alternators run on 12 volt batteries. Nobody will ever see this much power in their car so people need to understand their amps will not make this kind of wattage in their car!!
Plenty of folks are charging at 15v or higher these days
Please be more realistic do your test at 13 volts
that wouldn't be realistic. *When installed correctly with the supporting power that it draws, the voltage wont drop below 14v*

Many, many people.
@@Facekicker many people are spending 1500$ on electrical upgrades to power a 1500 watt scar amp? Lol
@@Dan-eh8bh It certainly doesn't take 1500 dollars to switch to lithium and support 2-3k rms.
@@Facekicker you can always go cheap yeah. Stock alt isn’t going to give you 15 volts. My jp-40 lithium and the cap that goes with it was 1500$ before the buss bars and battery lcd thing. Those were 100$ more each. Alt was 850$ cuz Volvo. My voltage is 14.8 still not 15 volts. Sits at 13.8 during hard usage. So I stand by what I said who would buy a cheap ass Scar amp to spend more money than the amp costs on electrical to run at 15 volts? When you’re running tests at 15 volts you are just plain lying to people who don’t understand everything that goes into the electrical.
