Great video! I actually pulled the trigger on a Nitro about 20 minutes before you uploaded this. Let me say, after hearing you play it, I am sufficiently hyped about it!
That's awesome man! I'm kinda curious how the newer versions of that amp sound vs the originals. Mine doesn't have the FX loop volume control so back in the day, us and the Quickrod owners would stick volume pedals in the loop to act as a poor man's master volume to tame these things and it worked surprisingly well. I think the one thing I really wish the amp had is a gain control for OD2. There are mods out there to do this but I feel like that should have been a standard feature of the amp. That's really the only fault I have with it.
@@FastRedPonyCar I actually bought a volume pedal for that same reason - I have an '08 QR without the loop volume and the master was just wayyyy too touchy... for all I know I probably saw it one of your old videos, same reason I bought a Jet City haha. That '08 amp is really dark too, compared to both earlier and later ones I've played. I'd really like to try out the latest/greatest QR with the B+ and Mids switches someday. The incoming Nitro is a used 2015 model, and last week I picked up an early no-gears 2005 Promod (also KT88's). Really interested to compare the two and see what changed in the "heavier" version of the Splawn amps after 10 years. I also wonder if the early Nitros were darker, like the way QR's went through that phase 2007-2011 where they were more middy/not as bright. Really I guess I should call Scott Splawn up and bend his ear for 20 minutes or so haha.
@@totallyradguitars959Mine is pretty dark. Treble and Presence nearly all the way up all the time. I prefer it on OD1 with a boost vs OD2. OD2 is a bit too fat for how I like it. The nitro’s low end is wild though and can be a liability on stage. An EQ in the loop helps a LOT.
Hey there brother..i just came across your channel and after a short look around and a listen of the vid u just posted w the lion and def subscribed to check out more of what you do! 🤘🎸Sounds amazing bro..
Sounds killer! Just traded a Purple Nightmare for Nitro. Can't wait to try it. Thanks for the amazing video!
I picked up an OX stomp based on your recommendation. Only tried it with synergy modules so far, but sounds great. Thanks for that!

Thanks man! Yeah I'm going to have a bunch of vids on the way. Lots of cool gear coming in is planned.
Nice one! Are we hearing the direct signal or room sound of studio monitors? My Quickrod gets me there quickly too. Much love for the Splawns. 🤘🤘🤘
What tubes do you have in that nitro?
