I love that you champion and work to find the good affordable make-up, and fairly review and recommend certain luxury items. I did not know Milani had crem blushes and that merit color is so pretty (looks so pretty on you). I do adore the Nyx Bare with Me Mineral Veil.
I make makeup and from this experience I can tell you that packaging/components are more expensive than the product itself. To give you an example, an eyeshadow pan can range from $0.30 - $2 net cost. Let's say I am making a 12 pan palette at $0.50 each. It would cost $6 to make, but then I have to spend $20 on the component, plus box, add labor (labor is expensive), marketing and profit. Now I have to charge $65 or more to cover it all. Companies that sell components have a catalog, plus the ability to do any custom components. Budget brands don't tend to do custom components, and even when they "do", it is small changes to existing designs the manufacturer offers. So I feel you Shelby, but the reason we get drugstore prices is because the packaging is what it is. The moment they upgrade it, we pay mid-range prices (like ABH, Tarte, etc.).
@@nancyoakley4727 it hurts my frugal heart knowing that a lot of the more expensive items I own is because of packaging, for the very reason you state. I’m not collecting empty jars of skincare or empty palette components, yet that is typically the most expensive part of a product 😩
@@JackOllie4 Oh yeah, there’s ugly packaging and then there’s dysfunctional packaging. It’s just insane to me that most of the money goes to the part we toss rather than the part we consume. I was doing research with manufacturers to put together a palette for me, I requested quotes and the eyeshadows themselves by bulk were just cents (orders of 10k units or more). It was the component that even by bulk was significantly more. That’s also why drugstore doesn’t have a box $$$.
@@nancyoakley4727 there are several drugstore products I like and I'll continue to buy despite the low end packaging, but I have to admit that I do place a lot of value on the experience of using the product and how it makes me feel. That, plus the quality of higher end products, is what largely draws me to luxury. I'm a sucker for opening a beautiful, luxe compact in the morning.
@@breannaramos2200 I agree on how the weighty, pretty cases make you feel. That's why I bought the gorgeous metal compact from Besame with enameling on the front. It is refillable! That way, you aren't throwing away the whole shibang when you've used up all the product. Charlotte Tilbury has a compact like that too. Wish more would go to sustainable or at least recyclable packaging.
I love the Nyx Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil! It works well with my oily, mature skin. It also lives up to its promise that you can apply it with your fingers, and it will not look streaky. Highly recommended! ~ Anastacia in Cleveland
I prefer the cover girl ageless over KVD. I’d love to try the Physicians Formula! Love dewy radiant look - esp in the summer. Good skin is key!! It’s your canvas for the art. Why did I ever worship the sun ☀️ 🤦🏻♀️ Thanks Shelbey! Motherhood looks awesome on you. 😍💙🌺 🥰
I would add Profusion Shimmers in the 10 pan palettes (just as dimensional as anything by Natasha Denona), BH cosmetics eyeshadow palettes, Makeup Geek blushes and highlighters (amazing highly reccomend), and for oily skin the Hard Candy Glamoflauge foundation which is under $12 and as good as $40-50 foundations. Also the Loreal Freshwear compact powder is a beautiful powder foundation to sheerly top over translucent powder. For normal skin the Wet N wild hydrating tinted moisturizer is super pretty too,
I was thrilled to see the Elf Wow Brow on your list as I so agree about it’s performance. I think the bottom line is we don’t have to spend a lot of money on makeup to find great products. Thanks for sharing! Thanks 😊
I adore the NYX Bare With Me skin veil. It's so light and just evens out your skin without looking like a layer. I've purchased a second one because I'm almost out and I love this product.
Awesome video. I definitely think drugstore/affordable beauty formulas are getting a lot better! The only thing that holds me back is the shade range/colors. I feel like drugstore brands have extremely limited shades and I can never find a complexion product that matches me! I also think the colors are just a little less 'sophisticated' maybe?
I love the NYX can't stop won't stop concealer, and recommend it to my best friend who had been using the Nars radiant creamy concealer. According to her it holds up even BETTER
Have you tried the ulta brand stick foundation? I’m so shocked by how much I love it! Reminds me of the one from bareminerals but I like it better plus better shades
You look amazing💞 I also switched from glossier to ELF. The NYX matte lip liners are better than MAC & my other high end lip liners. And the NYX matte setting spray's nozzle also delivers a fine mist too.
I love your videos and very knowlegeable assessment of products and appication. I wish you would list the colors of products that you use below because it help for comparison and range. Thank you for the classic makeup advice and so en joyable to watch!! 🙌
You look very lovely and this video was informative without a whole lot of chatty stuff. I always have to check if products are cruelty free and that keeps me from purchasing a lot of products. Last thing I’ll add is the Physician’s Formula liquid blush turned thick and clumpy and became unwearable. I hadn’t had the bottle for that long either.

I agree with the elf plump gloss 😍. Edit - also recently tried out the catrice one drop weightless concealer and really only need one drop to cover under each eye . Works beautifully for someone who doesn’t wear foundation!
You look lovely! I really appreciate your reviewing these wonderful affordable makeups! I've been wanting to buy a new setting spray and I'll try Flower Beauty's version! The concealer you recommended sounds perfect! Shape tape is so drying. Have you tried Tartes newest concealer yet?
Bodyography, milani, and flower are all on my short wishlist. I have the Flower concealer and it can oxidize and look cakey on me, but only if I'm using careless application methods.
The one and only creme foundation I've ever been able to wear is Merle Norman total coverage..been wearing it since I was 12. It's a sheer to full coverage wonderful foundation.
I also LOVE the colour pop hyaluronic acid setting spray the coconut one! Love it!!! And if you haven’t tried the wet n wild incognito concealer omg couldn’t believe it! Hated the original concealer but this one is wow
How would you compare the Milani cream blush to the ELF cream blushes ? Does Milani have decent staying power? You look lovely Shelby. Thanks for the upload

i am really curious to know your opinion on the brand LYS at sephora. i recently tried their cream blush in self love. i really liked it; reminds me of the patrick ta cream formula (if just slightly less emollient). its $16 for .23 oz/6.5 g. i think its worth you checking out.

Great video Shelbey! I loved all of these recommendations and cant wait to grab a few. From the ones I've tried I would totally agree on; Milani Glosses, Flower Beauty Spray.
