Erasing his name from the ledger of life and death, eating peaches of immortality, swallowing pills of immortality, a furnace that failed to burn his immortality but instead burned his mortality… he ate about as many peaches and pills as a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament player collects cards

The lengths to which the Monkey King went to absolutely ensure his immortality were incredible. From memory, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but the peaches of immortality also bestowed youth? Like the apples of Idun in Norse mythology?

Yep, he had layers of Immortality. If you found a way to remove one form of Immortality from him there were a dozen layers of others to remove. He can never die.

Wukong wasn’t really arrogant. The Gods had tricked him. Wukong was upset as any rational person would. The gods came to him not the other way around.

the disciples gathered under a pine tree for a discussion, and they requested Wukong to demonstrate his transformative abilities. Wukong transformed into a pine tree, amusing the disciples who applauded and laughed. However, their commotion caught the attention of the Master. Outraged by Wukong's show-off, the Master commanded Wukong to go back to where he came from and never claim to be his disciple again. Helpless, Wukong bid farewell to his master. He advises Sun Wukong never to needlessly show off his skills, because others might ask him to teach them, and if he does teach them, they may go on to cause trouble, but if he doesn't teach them, they will resent him for it. He then forbids Sun Wukong from ever revealing who it was that taught him, and the loyal Monkey King promises never to reveal the identity of his Master. With that, Sun Wukong wakes up to find himself back in the forest, realizing that the many years he spent learning the Way had taken place in some form of compressed time trance. Later, whenever Sun Wukong is asked about his powers and skills, he honestly replies that he learned everything in his dreams
Sounds a lot like the Epic of Gilgamesh retold in another way.
Wait… you guys skipped some stuff. Including his challenge to Buddha which is really neat. I mean he still gets trapped under a mountain but still the reason for it and why is important. Also you didn’t mention his “Shadow Clone Jutsu” ability 😅

Its not shadow clone jitsu but its close. He can make clones by blowing his hair

Actually what happened was he ate all the immortal peaches and failed the buddhas challenge and that’s why he got trapped under the mountain

Fam, i get that you're trying to keep your UA-cam videos short and sweet, but you skipped out and switched out soooooooo much of this story that you somehow made this absolutely epic story, surprisingly underwhelming. im sorry to be that guy, but i love Sun Wukong's story waay too much to not say it man

Being trapped under Buddha's mountain hand may have inspired the phrase *"Where have you been living, under a rock?"*
If you ask me, I can’t really see how Wukong was the one being arrogant in this situation. As far as I can see, he did what any rational thinking creature would do. He brought peace and prosperity to his people, ruling through wisdom and justice, making sure every monkey in his kingdom had a role to play and was valued by the community. Furthermore, in order to safeguard the newly established order, as well as to uphold the laws he had put in place and protect his people, he sought out a weapon that was worthy of his strength, cunning, skill, and cause, which he also did. The gods were the ones who chose to perceive him as a threat, even though he hadn’t done anything. The only reason they chose to act the way they did was because of their own fear, pride, jealousy, and self-righteousness and spite, seeing a creature from outside their realm achieving power they felt that only they should have.
All in all, give me a break, we all know that this is not a lesson in arrogance, but another display of self-indulgence, arrogance, childish superiority, and impetuousness on the behalf of petty deities and rulers.

I've read a lot of academic essays on this. He's not Hanuman. Sun Wukong is a syncretic fusion of Hanuman with several Chinese monkey deities
