I think you guys might want to try researching Sun Wukong some more. You seem to have left out some very important details between Wukong’s training years and his imprisonment.
The gold headband was only given after he met Tang San Zhang as a tool to inflict pain on Wu Kong if he ever goes against his master’s teachings as punishment
The headband was given much later. When the travelling party encountered bandits, Wukong killed the bandits instead of showing mercy. As killing is against the Buddhist teaching, the Monk requested assistance and this headband was given to prevent further killing.

Dont understand why when it comes to the western side, the stories are mistranslated, misrepresented and often twisted. Wukong didnt get his headband first, it was until he met Sanzhang, and in order to tame him, Guan yin goddess gave the headband to Sanzhang to have him to control wukong.

Why does the animatiin show the dot on his forehead?? He didn't become a buddha until after the journey. Also, he didn't gain his name until his teacher gave it to him. The headband is shown at the wrong time, too. He also didn't notice mortality until an elder monkey died. That's the thing with remakes. Random bs just gets thrown in and changes the story from the book.

It definitely looks like the Xinyuan Headband, but I think it's being used as a visual indicator of a Crown, as he is the King of the Monkeys.
