I loved it out of chronological order, I think it’s what makes this(sequel, not cover) great!! This generation has been chaotic and with social media you NEVER get news in chronological order so I think it fits perfectly!!
This, exactly this. So many people complaining it's not in order like the original. However the last 34 years have been one big random full on mess so this is exactly how you would remember the events, not in exact order.
I respectfully disagree. Putting things in chronological order like the original did kinda gives future listeners a vocal time stamp through that time in history. I still like the song but that did take me out of it a little.
1:28 Yes. Billy Joel’s version covered 1949-1989. FOB‘s version 1989-2023. Billy Joel’s version was mostly in chronological order, although not 100%. FOB’s version is not really in chronological order at all. It bounces around from 1998 to 2016 to 1990 to 2001 etc.
Love it, great discussion, and yes, we (my generation) didn't start the fire but, hopefully, we're still fighting it, And I'm glad you fellas see that the end has always been anticipated by some, feared by others, stoked by a few zealots and some believing they had greater enlightenment even inked dates on calendars. (Wait for it....now?...how about now?) The details of the times changes (liked your personal references to the original, btw), but the broad strokes of life do not. Rock on!
As a single digit child living under the threat of American president wanting to Nuke Cuba, and Russia 2 countries that also had Nukes. That is intense and very scary. So no lets not just get over it bcause we are Scared.
@@HanabiiiUwU exactly this. The last 34 years have been a full on, random mess. Nobody would remember all the events in order so these lyrics represent how manic it has been.
@@unforgiven642 even if they didn't think of that while writing the song, that is now the official reason why it's not in order cause it's so true. First listen of this song was a wild flash back of my whole life I had it on repeat the entire day
Billy Joel signed off on this, guys. He wanted the song to continue. And after FoB, it will be passed on to the next artist not afraid to sing it.

@@anthonyanderson9303Agreed, the passage of time is absolutely important.
Nice one. I like the concept of it continuing.
Yep, only another 30 years, till the next cover. Oooo I'll be old 😵

Rock on! and like the great Bill & Ted would say: "be excellent to each other" 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I got goosebumps when it said
Robert downy jr.. Ironman
Billy Joel's came out in 1989, at the beginning this says 1989-2023. So, this picks up immediately after Billy Joel's
Well that's definitely good to know 👍 thx
it was great live

I’m surprised they haven’t added COVID shutting down the world
Good point
They did without mentioning it when they listed Tiger King. That blew up at the being part of it.
could have been better if in chronological order but its still epic
Agreed, and yes great song... timeless
i kinda like how chaotic it felt with it out of order. It mirrors how these years have felt to me, at least.

Yes, it not being in chronological order definitely adds to the chaos that has been our lives

I always turn it off after the Robert Downey Jr Iron Man cause it just loses the melody.
Yep, I find some verses flow better then others.
llol kinda yeah
Same artist, but what they are singing about,is actually shown like rdjr,I prefer the original, than this.🇦🇺
