I think that it's great how they're giving Dave more vocals because I love his clean voice. It's different and a lot more poppy than edgy, but I've kind of grown out of most of this genre and CtE's new music is still good to me.

God I'm sick of people whining over this song not being heavy enough. Who the hell cares, a song isn't instantly good if there's breakdowns or more screaming in it. Saying the song is shit basically on the fact that it's softer makes me sick. Just enjoy the music and judging based on how damn heavy or soft it is.

Erra? August Burns Red? Northlane? The Word Alive? I could go on, but that notion is so obviously incorrect. Either way, I'm not into this Pop/Rock CTE at all. Was already fairly disappointed with their last album, so I don't really have any expectations for this album.

( I've actually shared the stage with them ) I also love all three of the bands' latest albums - I was just trying to say that a lot of bands tend to go soft, and it sucks man. Crown the Empire's first LP was so so so tasty and it bums me out that this is the direction they're going in, ya know?
Yeah, I definitely agree. It really sucks that a lot of "transition" bands for me started making music that I just can't enjoy anymore. Limitless and The Fallout are still amazing albums that I can enjoy to this day, but I haven't liked anything since then (the Limitless reissue was okay though, besides a few minor changes that bothered me.) It's really cool that you've been able to play on stage with those bands though, they're all some of my favorite bands and I would love for that opportunity in the future.

People should fucking appreciate Dave's singing. I'm actually happy he gets to show more of his talent in this song. Fuck anyone who hates on Crown The Empire. Seeing a band grow is something we should all be proud of.

I love his singing but I feel like he was one of the best screamers and he's not showing it as much anymore, I'm hoping he finds a good middle ground between screaming and singing in the album
I appreciate his voice, he's very talented. I wish he had cleans on their earlier albums. But I'm not impressed whatsoever with this new style. It's too basic for my taste. I expected something a bit dramatic and different from this band and I was let down. 👎

+Matthew Black there's a singer, from the band Emarosa who mentioned that too because people hate how they've changed as well since their earlier albums. It's pretty accurate though. We all want bands to change and I can see it because that's what we remember, their older sound that is. But they're just like us, they change over the years so their music can as well.

I used to he all about Crown, now these new songs are bringing me back in.
Why do all of you to keep hating on what they're doing? They are doing what they've been wanting to do for as long as they started. As far as I can remember when they were interviewed about this new album they said they wanted to do a sound which felt more like them then what people wanted them to do but I guess you can't please everyone and it's just absolutely ridiculous they are finally doing what they want to do but all anyone wants to do is hate on them. Even if you don't like it be happy for them that they are happy and following their dreams. There is nothing wrong with these songs. This song is fine zero is a great song and personally when they released cross our bones and prisoners of war those were my favorite songs I thought they were perfect. Crown, you're doing a very great job. There's nothing wrong with a new sound. Better than hearing the same exact thing every album. To me it's refreshing. Good job crown. You never disappoint.

I absolutely LOVE their older albums, but in my opinion, this is Great! I really like it. Even if they have changed their style a bit, it's great!

This is already a great year for music... I See Stars, Issues, and soon Crown's new album. I feel like this album isn't even written for the fans, or toward one person, but to the world. Crown is taking a concept of some good times, the baby boomer era (50s to 60s), and asking why we can't be like that once again, with all the hatred in this world. Crown, like many people, want peace. Peace isn't achieved at the throat of your enemy. Peace is achieved from the heart; which many of society's members' hearts have hardened. Spread love. Not fear.

FOR ALL THE HATERS!I a history lesson ,if Metallica hadn't changed direction they would have ended up like Slayer or Anthrax; that is, making a living but probably not making a killing like new Metallica. Or maybe they would have went into obscurity, so a differentiation was required to stay afloat in the rock and metal scene. They were wise enough to see that coming.
Also at some point you have to realize that musicians want to do music as a career and the only way to do that is to change or compromise a little. I think Metallica made the decision to compromise because they wanted to play music for a living and not just be bound by the confines of metal. The music business is a business and if everyone did the same thing over and over again that would be boring too! You may lose some fans but you will also gain new fans and if you notice recently how all the bands are going "softer" don't you think there is a reason?? doesn't mean they are sell outs! Without change you can have growth : ).... Just a thought

It's as I say, if you want the bands you like to keep doing what they are doing, BUY THEIR ALBUM. They have millions of views on their prior albums videos, but you didn't hear about that album going platinum. Everyone who does not contribute to their favorite artists contribute to the sterilization of the sound of music.
People will spend hundreds of bucks on a phone that you're going to throw away in a year, but you won't drop ten bucks on a bands CD? If you're worried about it breaking or getting scratched, copy it to your computer at high quality and back it up.
Even in cases of successful musicians, like Metallica, you spend a decade playing the same sound, I'm sure even those guys get tired of it. Most musicians are creative and want to try new things. However Metallica took a few steps to far with Load, Reload and Saint Anger, then they turned around and did Death Magnetic, which was a return to thrash. Point is, support your artists and maybe you won't see so many drastic changes in sound from one CD to the next.
but unlike metallica, anthrax still makes good music and thats what really matters, not 'making a killing'

Who cares? What sounds good to someone might not sound good to another. Yeah, I'm a little late because this has been out for a while, but it came up on my Spotify. I used to listen to their old stuff and yeah it is different but that doesn't make it bad. A band typically can't create the same type of music over and over again. You have to mix it up and progress and expand and see what you can do as a band. These guys are pretty famous and everyone in the comment section is probably just sitting behind their phone or computer or whatever the case may be trolling on bands who have put so much effort in the music they create. If you don't like it, listen to something else or their old music. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that's great. But to sit there and talk trash because they changed up their style is just ridiculous.

Maybe this song is the first song that deserves fan's disappointment. Not because it is a bad song (it's actually a good song) but because it is very average. "Zero" is a great song and this make me hope that "Weight of the world" will be just a filler song. Anyway The Resistance, even if it's not so metalcore/post-hardcore like The Fallout is probably their best work. While The Fallout has many filler songs and it is average metalcore, The Resistance has a way more mature sound and lyrics and a great variety of sounds (just compare Satellites to MNSTR). This is my opinion: I love both The Fallout and The Resistance but I think that CTE, as the go on making music, they can just improve!

They explained in so many interviews that this album was new for them and that they were really trying to put feeling into their songs! Appreciate that they're being real with us instead of complaining that it's too soft. Crown has always been different. This album is called RETROgrade for a reason guys

I have been a huge fan of CTE for four years now, and I finally got to meet them on 7/10 at Warped Tour. I love watching their music change throughout the years and seeing new themes--really interesting and amusing. They will always be the faves c: To me, they are genuine
