Decorah North Eagles ~ DNF Brings In Raccoon! Both DN17 & DN18 Eat! Cute Sibling Interaction 6.19.24

- DNF flies in to the nest branch and platform with a piece of raccoon and lands right between DN17 & DN18. Both kids are squeeing and move closer to Mom. The challenge is eating mammal on the branch! DN17 grabs the prey & mantles but can't do anything with the food. DNF takes it back but DN17 gets a piece to eat. Then DN17 goes to Mom and she offers some bites of the prey. DN18 joins squeeing. DN18 will steal the prey and Mom flies to another branch - DN18 then eats on the branch.
It is challenging for the juvies to eat on a branch and DN18 ends up dropping the raccoon to the ground. Mr. North will fly in with a piece of the prey and DN17 gets it this time. DN17 will eat on the branch while DN18 will watch with cute head tilts and sticking its foot out relaxing. I think DN18 was just biding its time till a steal can be had. :)
Nest or no nest, eagle parents will find a way to continue to feed their offspring! DN17 & DN18 are doing great with being able to develop the skills to eat on a branch, on the ground just like they would be doing on their own! Thank you for watching!
