The fact that Necrons bring 18 Wraiths, a model sold in 3s. Shows how abysmal their internal balance is. More than anything, it speaks to how limited their canoptek range is.
It also speaks to 10th as a whole. You just find the one broken unit and spam 3 max squads of it. It's the same for Votann and Hearthguard. I miss force org charts and army compositions that made sense.
This is one thing I miss from previous editions. But then 3 minimum size units of immortals wouldn't change the lists that much I guess.@@michaelgwartney2672
I think it's nuts that they nerfed technomancer so hard when it's clearly wraiths that are more of a problem.
@@braders790boop Yeap. Really weird decision especially because they weren't really played in the other 2 units they could join (and dear god won't they now^^). Shoulda bumped 6 man wraiths by a lot more than the techno point increase ... like 40-60p for 6. And I mean 6 man specifically. Because even if 3 stayed at the previous cost, that's a lot less bang for your buck.
keeping techon at 60p and increasing 6 man wraith cost by 60 would actually have been interesting. That'd would have meant that you basically pay for the techno twice if you go for the bigger unit.
Wasn't expecting to see Blood Angels on here, as a Space Marine fan I'm happy to see them being able to place highly at the top level
Brings a tear to my eye. Kinda feels like BA have been bottom of the barrel for the longest time but that +2 strength seemingly was a bigger buff for us than I initially expected it to be.
I am amazed how dark angels went down in points across board, even the auto-include azrael remained at his point cost yet because they completely relied on a very specific ironstorm list, they have falled to like a 27% winrate. Solid oof
Their codex was an absolute unmitigated disaster. No good detachments, no good datasheets, and no synergy to be found anywhere.

@@kirbyball97 only to mass spoof. There wasn't much power behind it, just outliving your opponents with wounds for days. S6 and S10 weapons hurt really bad against all their bikes.

Space Marines Terminators need a serious glow up. Mega knobs are effectively the same thing, except better in every way.
They shoot worse, if at all, and i think cost more.

I think quite a few of these lists illustrate a growing gulf between high-level competitive tables and everywhere else. I'd like to see the terrain maps for some of these games because I know from experience that if I put half those lists on a table at a typical FLGS they'd get shot to death in a couple of turns, in particular those expensive lynchpin characters apparently hanging out on their own. Some of those lists look like they're designed to be played in a space hulk. And yet they obviously do well, so there must just be a heck of a lot more LOS blocking terrain out there.

15 characters, two units. Love these new 40k lists so much.
Used the Bully Boyz twice now. They have some fantastic plays they can make. And a few pitfalls aswell. All in all tho I'm loving the new ork codex !
They did the lion dirty. Very dirty. They can write Magnus as solid and powerful since the get-go. Why can't they do the same with Lion?
I feel like it'd be nice to see what these armies lost to or won against, be good info for people lookin for it I think

That daemons list is amazing.
I used the bully boys on the weekend.they're good but outside of the waagh turns take a lot of punishment from shooting. To be fair I was facing tau with some insane luck 3 hammerhead shots in kauyon with sustained 2 all getting 6s vaporizer a lot of meganobs

The Daemons list im surprised did well.. it seems so easy to counter and without significant presence especially with how the meta is focused on max unit blobs with leaders. I think he had a nice run on his GT pairings as it appears to be weak to counters or screening

Nice. About the Masque of slaanesh, you can also hide it out of line of sight behind the guo and maybe another greater daemon, so the GUO is -1 to wound in melee(while the keeper additionaly gets +1 to wound in melee).
Interesting, so we're finally starting to see the Daemonifuge instead of Callidus.
I think the variety of armies shows good players can win with most armies, but there is internal balance issues within codexes and they rely on only certain units in each codex which reduce the variety of models you actually see being used.

As a Necrons player, I hate how 18 Wraiths is still one of the strongest lists we have. They should’ve hit them harder, and buffed warriors so they would see play instead

I play as TS for 4 years and honestly i have no Idea how to play that sorcerer/rubric heavy list
To be quite frank, I didn't much buy into the low CSM winrate last patch. Sure they got some extra points this time, but a lot of their bs combos already existed. I feel like a lot of people got stuck 2 metas ago and tried to play lists that just didn't work anymore after the dataslate nerfs in january. Guess it's a good thing for GW to made them look at other units and combinations.
Yea, fought that Abaddon/terminator brick/ hellbrute combo on Saturday and by god that was ridiculous

So chaplain can attach to DC?
Yep! And DC don't get OC unless a chaplain is within 12" (usually this just means you attach one and call it good)
Jump DC can take the Jump chaplain (or lemartes/astaroth), normal DC take the regular chaplain. DC dreads are either going to be just a vehicle/monster killer, or can have OC if nearby one of your units with a chaplain

@@wolfgangstallionmusic5639 yeap. first codex release via box was 1 month before orcs and custodes. Won't get points till next weekend, because that's when the regular codex goes on sale.
Ironically, Custodes and Orcs got their points even before the codex was available.
Infernal master and rubrics going to get their points slapped this is getting ridiculous. As a TSons player I’m pretty worried.
Same. Once rubrics get punished hard our army falls apart. We can survive the infernal master with other choices if we have to

To be fair, the infernal master is ludicrous. He and his dudes routinely wipe entire units in overwatch
@@jacket2848 On the other hand, he's also a leader who's main leading-ability doesn't actually buff the unit he's leading in any meaningful way! ([Sustained Hits] not being particularly useful on units armed with predominantly [Torrent] weapons, imagine that!)

I literally lol'ed at the SW list. I understand tournaments are win-at-all-costs mentality, but dear God I'd take one look at that and walk away.
And who wants to collect and paint an army like that too??

I betcha when we get the next balance pass thunder wolf Cavalry is gonna get whacked with the nerf bat, lol, bye wolves, back to obscurity where you belong
I've played against Thunderwolf spam and I actually had a lot of fun. It's tough and heavily melee focused but it's got plenty of ways to defeat it. It's definitely a skew way to play Space Wolves but I'd take it over the previous C'tan stuff or the current Meganob silliness any day.

Dont really understand the necron list. Why Illuminor Szeras? There is only 1 battleline unit.
I have a list thats gonna have one block of 10 immortals with an Overlord and pyromancer, with Szeras lurking around them. Basically just stay behind cover and stare at the midfield hoping something sticks a leg out

Jeff was using szeras as an all around wound sponge and board control piece. A 4+ invuln with a 4+ fnp at 9 wounds is almost as meaty as a c'tan its very rng and hard to kill. Plus his damage is alright. Basically boils down to what else can you take for 175 points that is that hard to kill and the current answer, if you're maxed out on wraiths, is not much. Oh and hes a cryptek so he gets the lone op strat the dev strat and the full rerolls.
@@davidszabo820 ive only played one game with my Necrons, and it was an unoptimized Hypercrypt. Had no clue what i was doing, so honestly im just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks
I really really wish I could get healthy enough to play a tournament again.
I've been doing really well against people who have won local tournaments, but I just can't play more than 1 game a day (and I can't even finish a 3k battle).
I think I could do really well, maybe even win

Wasnt really a points decrease. It was just down from eh codex numbers which never went live.
@@gamewizardx Trajann, Blade Champ, and like two other characters saw 5-10 point drops relative to the previous MFM points. Of course, Kyria and Assassin got more expensive so it’s kind of a wash.

Watch as GW finally nerfs the TWC and their characters in the summer. It annoys me that there is pretty much only one way you can run the space wolves competitively
The Space Wolf list is dumb, but hopefully they just limit the Wolf Lords and Battle Leader numbers rather than throwing out huge price increases to Wolf Cav as a whole

But if a list is 70% made of one unit type then something is going wrong. I just hope Wolf Cav don't get completely buried, they are my one of my favourite units.

I mean, the battle line respawn cheese can do ok vs some armies, and they have a good amount of buffers, but yeah, they don’t have a lot of big dramatic characters, and their vehicles can be underwhelming
CSM lists in tournaments (that I've seen) are always so boring. If you don't take Abaddon, you don't achieve anything, from the look of it.

Ksons have the saddest illusion of choice. Why did they bother creating all of these Tzaangor sculpts when they're just hard outclassed by generic cultists?
Point changes didn't even let us slip in a set of Enlightened and those things are almost the most cost effective unit around
Battleline tax means you'll never run a daemon for the rest of the edition. (What a great solution that was so much better than just balancing the scribes and changeling)

@@teejay1646 number 1. a 20 man gor bomb with a crystal shaman is VERY useable, to jump and then surge and lock the enemy in their DZ.
Number 2. Enlightened are cheap, fast moving action monkeys.

Happy to see the Wolves are up there, sad that its literally only 5 different models, just in abundance. Taking 24 marines on wolves (both characters and regular TWC) just seems like its not fun or innovative. Its boring.
