I learned about that in history class. They dumped the tea off the boats at the harbor and that got them mad so they went to Philly and signed the Constitition and it said that europe cant take any more money from USA. And we invented cannons and guns so they came and tried to take the money but they left. I forget why but thats basically what it was.

I was a manager at a hardware store in a suburb of KC. I opened a roll of pennies, and nickels in a register..during a sidewalk sale. The nickel roll had 3-1950d nickels. Worth about $5-10 each. I use to do this as a teenager back in the 1970s. At one time, I had every penny all the way back to 1857. Yes, it included the 1877 Indian head penny and the 1909s vdb. It also helped that my sister worked at a savings and loan and would be on the look out for me. Later on I purchased the 1955 dd in ms64 condition. I use to save what I called Feather pennies when I was 4, to each of my grandpa’s split evenly to each! WELL now they have past one in 97 an one in 2008, an I was given all of them back at their death! So I have 14,748 lose an 3 o 4 of the books! An when my father past to soon I received all of his silver dollars, halves an quarters, nickels, dimes & pennies Now I am a Grandma an they will go to my Grandson when is old enough to appreciate them, an maybe 1 of them will be worth a ton, for him! I very well maybe sitting on one now, but don’t know it! Thanks for the videos ! It makes me want to go thru all of my Feather pennies!!
I really enjoy your enthusiasm and excitement in finding a possibly valuable coin. I also felt the same way. After going through 1,000's of rolls after over 60 years of searching, arthritis slowed me down to an occasional roll now and then. My most exciting moment was when I thought I found a COPPER 1943 cent!! A quick check with a magnet dashed my dream of a big payout day. Only copper plated steelie. Lots of fun though.
GM3210 Right now you can, but check out what has happened in the past when your overlords want to scrap a specific currency, or void bullion certificates... Or close the banks without notice.... check out great depression.

I did this once - bought a bag of pennies from the bank - had fun going through them. This was back in the mid 60s. Found several Indian Heads but no more luck than you had finding the rare dates and mint marks. But got a lot of 1943 steel pennies and quite a few from the teens, twenties, and thirties. there was also a 1909 but it was a philly. Even now, I have a hard time not looking at my pennies and nickels when I get change.
Thirty years ago or so we had a giant bottle of pennies. My kids went through it and found a 1909. That started two of my boys on coin collection. They both (now in their 30's) have continued that hobby. I always go through my containers of coins a couple of times a year to pull out wheaties for them. A friend of mine at work found a 1909 in the change scattered on the console of his car!
Awesome vid Rob! This week's pennies boxes has been insanely good. Grabbed 4 boxes in 2 days, found 22 wheat pennies and 9 foreign coins. Oldest was a 1920 wheat and 1947 canadian penny.
Finding a proof coin is just as cool as an oldie,,, out of 10,000 , you found only one ! Which tells me they are very rare,,, I used to do this as a kid for years ! I couldnt wait to go to the bank and get rolls of coins to look through ! It was work, but very fun ! Seeing your tarnished fingertips brought back memories !!! TY for the memory jog ! Lol,,, Take care, and TY ! 😁✌🇺🇸
Why actually did I watch this to the end? I'm not even from the USA nor do we use pennies here in Central Europe nor am I interested in collecting coins.
I worked retail in the 90s and to stay sane, I’d look for old coins and notes. I Found quite a bit. It’s interesting how one can spot a wheatie just by the slight variation in tone. I collected coins at an early age and am still interested. Love videos like yours. Thanks.
I don’t understand anything about coins but everytime you found a Canadian penny, I was happy. Those are non-existent in Canada anymore but also it means we infiltrated your currency. Muhahhaa!
I used to do this a dollar at a time when I was a kid in the 1960s. Looks like wheat pennies are becoming about as rare as 1943 steel cents were in the 1960s.
@@wrockage I had two & a half big pickle jars full of them when I was a kid. I thought they might be worth something some day. I have no idea whatever happened to them. My parents have changed houses twice since then, only my dad is still alive. Might be in the garage or attic where he lives now, or they might of got cashed in at the bank decades ago.
Out of 10,000 pennies lets say he found 50 keepers. If the average value of those fifty are $.03, then the total value is $1.50. The remaining 9,950 pennies can be cashed in for $99.50. His total return would be $101 on a $100 investment. Still better than a savings account.
Or could have mowed the neighbors lawn in the several hours involved and made $20-30... Bear in mind that he had to go buy these, do this whole thing, then drive to the bank to dump these pennies into the counting machine.
I personally searched through 1,030,315 pennies while building the biggest penny pyramid in the world according to Guinness World Records. I have all the respect for those of you who do roll hunting daily. Penny Building Fool
@HB C It's completely relaxing, a total stress reliever. Plus you win a lot of tickets when listening to the radio while building. I won so many concert tickets while building but sadly never even went to any of the concerts. I just wanted to win and I did.
I just completed a 10,000 penny hunt and will be posting it on my channel soon. Its been a while since I've done a hunt to this magnitude and ended up finding a bunch! I got 62 Wheats which was awesome, meaning 15 per box! I found a lot of Canadians as well including a King George V! All in all, though very time consuming, it was one of my favorite hunts to date!
When I was a kid and my grandparents gave me their buckets of change that they didn't want to roll, I always went through them to find the older or special edition coins. I always liked to find Canadian coins with King George on the back, and I got a few wheat pennies as well
So what are the pennies that you found worth? That would have been nice to have included it at the end. Especially, for those who know nothing about this stuff.
I am anything but a coin collector, but your video got (and kept) my attention. Would you be kind enough to answer a few questions? 1) What is the significance/value of a "wheat penny?" 2) What is a proof penny and does it have any extra value as such? and 3) What is the value of the Canadian pennies? (and the one from Bermuda)? Thank you. Good luck in you future hunts.

It's the only penny I still own and will probably never sell it. My friends couldn't figure out why I was always broke. I was always saving for the next coin that I couldn't find.
