    Architectural Visualisation is great! You are doing a terrific job at teaching people that!
    But as you grow older in the industry you realise how much more important good drawing skills are!
    Maybe you can show us more black white drawings or autocad plotting styles and drawings that don't have to do so much with the post production stage!
    Love your videos! Keep up the good work!

      Hey Athanasia-Zoe, you're totally right! And that's a constant battle that I go through when deciding what type of content to create here on the channel.
      I'm the biggest fan of black and white minimal drawings and everything that I created outside of here I aim for that style, but unfortunately youtube is not the place to publish this 😪 subtle drawings usually don't get clicked, and I have to end up playing the youtube game with more flashy and bright thumbnails.
      I hope you understand, but I'll do my best to bring more of what you suggested 🙏
      And thank you so much for the feedback! It's always appreciated ❤

      @@LearnUpstairs :( why not try to make such video? I also find this an interesting suggestion

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому +5

      @@keosslivingstone4104 I'll try! The thing is that with BW drawings there's not so much you can explore in terms of style. What I feel is that you need to get the thicknesses perfectly set and work with patterns and subtle fills.
      Maybe I can talk about that and show some good references.
      Autocad plot styles is something I don't understand too much, as I've never really used Autocad much. I went to vectorworks 2d and then straight to BIM with Archicad.
      All that to say that as soon as I can I'll talk about this. There are other videos already on the list with an interesting partnership coming up 👀

    I had my scene set to parallel projection and ISO, while my Vray's setting is set to match viewport, but when I rendered claymode in Vray. the angle of my buildings does not match the exported 2D lines. has anyone had this issue?

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому

      Hey Ronnie, it all depends on your rendering settings and what type of "sun" you're using.
      For example, if you use an HDRI to light up your scene, it can look very different too

    Its possible to do the whole thing in 3D but require a lot of tweaking on materials. Personally I find vectors unintuitive unless you absolutely need SVG file for frontend stuff

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому

      Vector files are a so useful, it allows you to fine-tune all of that line hierarchy. And really get looking the way you want. But I totally understand wanting to skip that step.
      I guess you can do the whole process in 3D, but I'm not sure, Sketchup for example, give all that flexibility in terms of settings.
      You could try to achieve in Vray, adding a rendered line layer (I think latest versions have this option).
      My opinion is that each software has its strengths and we should learn how to take advantage of that. But also, not all clients or projects need the absolute best result possible. I hope I helped more than confused you, Patt 😅

    Hi, love the video! But I have a small question about the competition.
    Does the building comptetition entry have to be a building we designed or an existing building is fine?

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Pei Kai, thanks!
      The building will be in essence something you design, because it has to be in that site we provided.
      But you can get inspired by an existing building for sure! (Just pay attention to see if it makes sense on that site)
      Remember it's just the concept with basic volumetric, no detailing is needed.

    Well thank you! This was very illustrative. I remember a past video with some similar-looking diagrams, but these BIG-style ones are always pleasing to the eye, and I enjoy the different methodology. I do have to wonder if I could export the same-looking render using a Cinema 4D + Corona combo instead of using Sketchup...

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Juan! Thanks a lot! Yes, it has a similar idea, I just wanted to show another method of achieving the result. Plus it had to match the competition theme.
      I'm not a C4D + Corona user, but I'm pretty sure you can export a Clay Render from it. The only issue you may find is the lines.
      Sorry for not being able to help on that 😕

    hey oliver when i save the pdf and open it in illustrator . a few lines are straight and the rest are dashed lines
    i was wondering how to solve this case

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому

      Hey Rahmoun Fortas! That's weird... But in any case, I'd ungroup/release clipping mask/release compound path. Then select everything and hit D to reset to default lines and fills to black and white.
      That should do the trick.
      But another tip would be to use the select same feature to select all dashed lines. Then uncheck the dashed line to make them normal.

    We are limited to submit in jpg format right? It would be cool if we could submit in GIF formats as well.
    Would be a great chance to practice after learning from your after effect / motion graphics tutorial :P

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  2 роки тому +1

      Hey William! Yes the idea is to submit in JPG or PNG. But then once you have them ready, I'd encourage you to create the GIF to post on social media and portfolios.
      GIFs can be trickier to create... you have so many variants to choose from. Looping, quantity of colors that will set the quality, duration of the frame, size, and overall file size.
      And we thought that that would limit the participants because the entry barrier would be higher.
      But again, once the sequence diagram is created, it's easier to go to the next step, and create the GIF.
      An excellent sequence diagram needs to be first conceived in a still manner.
