All these negative people in the comments section make me laugh while I sit here driving around in my 2022 RAV4 Cruiser AWD Hybrid. It’s the highest selling SUV in the world for a reason. Test drove several other SUV’s (Mazda CX-5, Honda CRV, Hyundai Tuscan and a Subaru Outback) and the RAV4 came out on top for sure. Who cares if it’s dash isn’t as high tech as some of the competition. I’d rather a much more reliable car that drives better any day.
Came out on top in terms of what? Fuel economy and reliability are the only things the Rav 4 beat their competitors on. If that's what's most important to you, then fantastic you've found yourself a winner. Other people may have different priorities. I couldn't drive around looking at that hideous tiny digital dash that looks like it was put together by a kid in year 2. @@spiffleable firstly, fuel economy and reliability are the top two things that people should be concerned about. Especially in this day and age with everything on the rise in price. Secondly, it was the handling, acceleration, comfort, amount of storage absolutely everywhere throughout the interior that also did it for me. It feels like a car that’s just as happy to drive around the suburbs as it is to drive around the bush on dirt roads. Just breaths quality throughout, is great to drive and even looks amazing with its aggressive body styling. Constantly get complements from people who see it in person. I’ve been driving around in a 2015 Toyota Prado GXL and a 2014 BMW 320D M Sport so I’m used to digital screens that aren’t anything special. A slightly lower quality camera does nothing to hinder the experience at all and is the least of my problems. No squinting required either as someone who has issues seeing the camera on an 8” screen probably needs to get an upgrade on their prescription glasses. The competition felt like soccer mum cars to me when I drove them. Especially the CX-5. The Outback drove pretty well overall but I chose against it as it didn’t have as much storage space. @@Richard-sl8we hi mate. I get around 5.8 on average which equates to around 1000km per tank. Sometimes I’ve achieved slightly better and pushed the tank to around 1100km. Regular unleaded fuel. 17 months into 14 month contract for a RAV4 awd cruiser hybrid. i have no confirmed build date from Peter Kittle dealership. Price has increased with delays from toyota $4500 over this time. i am sure toyota new motto is WE DELAY YOU PAY O WHAT A FEELING.
What’s the point for these reviews when u need to wait for this car for at least a year. By the time ur car arrived, it will be yesterday’s technology.
Apparently you can with a small (a few mm) lifting of the floor which is easily covered with a cargo mat. There are some videos on UA-cam that address this.
If anyone did the sums they would realize that the expected return on your investment with a hybrid is break even around 4 years. At which point you will save about $1.70 per day. Considering the car is north of 50k. I don't see the upside. The green effect people might feel in owning a hybrid is about 0.1% on our carbon footprint per year. Toyota could just sell just the plug in hybrid like they do in other countries which would be slightly more cost effective but why would they when the car has a 12 month wait. Simple profit and loss equation. In which Toyota profits and consumer has a loss.
Even if that’s right (with current fuel prices break even is more like 2 years), it totally misses the positive impact of the hybrid torque punch - it’s good to drive and way more powerful than the 2.0L petrol
Should be offered as a Phev. The Rav4 Prime with 18kwh battery has been very popular in the U.S & U.K. I love my 2020 Outlander Phev & there is no comparison to being able to commute 50km & use zero fuel especially given the free charging at my work, local shopping centres and even beach carparks. I really think your forgetting that the car industry is fast leaving hybrid & ICE cars behind its just that Australia is very far behind the rest of the world largely thanks to our Federal Government who currently provide zero incentives or rebates for Phev's or EV's.
Sure, but it’s also worth not overstating it. EVs were 2% of the market in Australia this year. It’s growing, but we wouldn’t say “moving away from ICE and hybrids very fast” - it will be some time before every driveway has an EV on it. Cars like this RAV4 still hold major appeal in a country with relatively poor charging infrastructure. Several state governments including NSW provide very significant incentives for EV purchases - less so PHEVs.
I would pick VW Passat Wagon any over this, RAV4 is overrated, the interior design is dead boring! and ride handling at best is average!! The only thing that's going for RAV4 is fuel consumption.
Real world test like drive at night headlights poor high beam hopeless rain road’s dangerous wandering across wet tarmac hot day sunroof shakes like a hungry raccoon 🦝 playing drums wind bluffering around doors
Where did you get that number from, did you make it up? People are asking that for second hand ones (& getting it) but new ones are nothing like that amount, just a long wait...... Very long.....
Click bait. Still comes with the worst touch screen, no panoramic sunroof, sound insulation is crap, looks seriously outdated dashboard and center console. Toyota gets away with reliability alone but for how long. Soon Kia and Hyundai will take over. Toyota is going towards Nokia path.

Sure, it’s conservative, but everything works as it should, and quality is high. That’s at least as important as styling
Wait times for new cars is ridiculous. Could some reviews please be done on new cars that are available to customers now?
It’s a solid choice. Just wish it was styled up a bit more.
We had to wait 6 months here in the states for our RAV4 Hybrid.
I feel bad for you all down in Australia and your wait times.
This is so ridiculous in this day and age.
Actually completely normal in this day and age given what has happened in the world. Chill.
Just ordered the AWD Cruiser here in Sydney. 12 month wait. Dealer suggested they are focussing on building the US market, hence fewer allocated to Australia, but who knows. I'm sure it will be worth the wait...
Clearly didnt mention the fog lights are now LED, the digital rear view mirror.
Out of interest do you know what the Watts are on the base 6 speaker unit?
Man I still miss my awd gx hybrid. Unfortunately work figured I needed car with more clearance and proper 4wd. At least the hilux is pretty good nowadays and I haven't lost the radar guided cruise (and android auto) I enjoyed so much on the Rav4.
Has no rear side airbags. And the curtain airbags don’t deploy fully for the rear passengers head.
I miss Eclectic Blue in the 2022 RAV4
17 months into 14 month contract for a RAV4 awd cruiser hybrid. i have no confirmed build date from Peter Kittle dealership.
Price has increased with delays from toyota $4500 over this time. i am sure toyota new motto is WE DELAY YOU PAY O WHAT A FEELING.
I’ve been waited 8 months now, and it’s still not in production, order was placed August 2021
Oct for me. There is a chance you may get the updated spec though
ordered mine last year in June and I'm picking it up tomorrow, hopefully you'll get yours produced soon.
@@juanrondon3797 oh nice, can I asking which model did you ordered?
@@erictangF thanks . 2WD cruiser hybrid
Hi team. Are the front seats a/c cooled, or just fan cooled?
Fan only mate...
@@TheInspiredFamilyTV cheers mate
What’s the point for these reviews when u need to wait for this car for at least a year. By the time ur car arrived, it will be yesterday’s technology.
It was already yesterday's technology to begin with
@@Djnosey97 simple is the best !.
Thanks
Nice
Can you fit a full size spare wheel under floor ?
Apparently you can with a small (a few mm) lifting of the floor which is easily covered with a cargo mat. There are some videos on UA-cam that address this.
@@brianl.6866 thank you...brings it back into play. Do some reasonable country miles and you can be a long way from a tyre shop !
Whats the math that you get to 1.70?
Watch frm 18:00
Even if that’s right (with current fuel prices break even is more like 2 years), it totally misses the positive impact of the hybrid torque punch - it’s good to drive and way more powerful than the 2.0L petrol
NZ also doesn’t have the Prime.
@@chasingcars yeah, the better drive is not always considered.
Toyota.
Rav4.
Again!
All models at least 50k now for the logistic problem due to the war and pandemic. :D
what about fuel economy ?
He talked about fuel economy 3 times during the video.
I think it is going to be an interesting fight between the RAV 4 and the new Mazda CX 60 hybrid.
When is Mazda CX60 hybrid due in Australia?
@@Richard-sl8we I think late this year.
The engine noise bad!
That Smurf blue is absolutely vile! 🤮
Interior's still plain basic. 😑
I would pick VW Passat Wagon any over this, RAV4 is overrated, the interior design is dead boring! and ride handling at best is average!! The only thing that's going for RAV4 is fuel consumption.
This car is basically the iphone 6 version of cars. Reliable and does the job but batshit boring.
But it’s nice looking vehicle indeed!
The techs garbage really. By the time people get the car it will be so outdated and EVs will be the mainstream
Let’s wait and see.
why are they still installing this ugly screen in 2022?
Maybe so ugly people don't feel bad?

Where did you get that number from, did you make it up? People are asking that for second hand ones (& getting it) but new ones are nothing like that amount, just a long wait...... Very long.....
@@wd9807 That is right.
Click bait. Still comes with the worst touch screen, no panoramic sunroof, sound insulation is crap, looks seriously outdated dashboard and center console. Toyota gets away with reliability alone but for how long. Soon Kia and Hyundai will take over. Toyota is going towards Nokia path.
You sound upset lol
Get's away with reliability alone? Didn't this car win car of the year for 2 years in a row, even against the Kia and Hyundai?
@@Brian-jb2gv Awesome vehicle. Love the RAV4
You dream mate. Korean cars are like oppo mobile you get everything but not reliable and robust.
Time will tell.
I don't like waiting for anything - especially the most boring suv in Australia.
It’s up to you.
I just went on the 12-18 month waiting list for the awd xse
