@@shaunnsheather3474 even when I had my 2004 RAV4, it only went between 44-48L when filling up shortly after the light came on. Makes me think that the RAV’s probably have another 50km or so until empty once the light turns on which would make up the remaining litres to make up the 55L tank.
It amazes me how Toyota invest millions of dollars on design, research, development, ... etc. and when it comes to the infotainment system they seem like running out of money and ideas!
Toyota always sources the cheapest head units for their cars. A colleague bought a 2003 Camry and it came with a cassette player. Who bought and listened to cassettes in 2003? Clearly Toyota bought a few million of these head units at a good price and keeps putting them in cars till they exhaust their supply.
The US market standard JBL unit screen fills more of the binnacle and it can be upgraded at an extra cost. I fear Toyota Aus doesn’t do it as a way of moving people up to the Lexus
Sold our family 2005 Rav 4 last year (340,000k's, yes that's right). Three generations of family ownership and no major problems, just normal stuff like tyres, breaks etc. No squeaks and solid grey plastic in great condition, starts every time and no shudders or mechanical problems. Always thirsty and ever gave up the drink. If you are buying a new one I hope you are as please with it as we all were. I have just ordered a Mazda, I'll see haw that goes.
My RAV4 Hybrid took nearly 12 months (almost to the day) by the time it got delivered in August 2021 (6 months ago) but it was worth the wait. Infotainment is its biggest downfall and what I'm most irritated about particularly since I'm a current owner of Kia & Hyundai who both excel when it comes to tech. I feel like the RAV4's infotainment is even a generation behind my 4-year old Hyundai. BUT... what really sold me is the Hybrid power train. I just love how it goes and it's so smooth despite only using 5.5L/100kms over 6 months of driving in 95% suburban stop-start traffic with very limited freeway/highway travel. I love the size of the interior and also a huge fan of the exterior design (very subjective, I know). Love your work, keep it up! 🍻
We’re about 8 weeks away from ours. We were very lucky in that someone canceled their order. We ordered on Wednesday, not our original colour but who cares in the grand scheme of things.
Apparently there will be a tech upgrade for rav4 hybrid coming early next year according to the chasing cars website. This will include a larger 12.3 inch fully digital instrument panel and 10.5 inch infotainment screen. And surprise, surprise they will be similar to the ones used in the new lexus nx model. Who would've thought hey.
I own a Rav4 cruiser hybrid AWD.(Aug 2021) and the reverse camera is quite a grainy image by default. However it can be adjusted to a vibrant crystal clear image by going into the menu setting and adjusting the contrast, color saturation, brightness etc to give you a much sharper picture, which none of the videos on You Tube that I've seen have pointed out. Hope this helps. Rob. UPDATE: it's curious that all the fuel economy tests done on this particular model reach an average figure of 4.6L/100km. These findings are the conclusion of segment testing only. Myself on the other hand filled my car to the brim also filling up a 5L spare can in the boot. Drove very sedately on Eco setting the entire time in a mix of town, urban and short highway distances always easing back slightly on the accelerator so as to utilise the battery more. When the car finally "died" on me, I limped about half a km on battery power only to the side of the road and put in the spare 5L taking note before driving off again of my total range which clocked up 1017 kilometres which works out at 5.3L/100km which in my humble opinion given the type of driving I did is a far more accurate figure than officially shown. Of course each identical model may vary.
Very informative review Paul. Today (23/02/23) I enquired about the Cruiser and Edge Hybrids and was told by the dealership that there is now a 2-3 year wait time! Sadly I may have to look at other SUV's.
Paul, Next time you in US, UK, or EU can you do a RAV4 Prime review! Would Love to see what we are missing out on in Australia? Sad there a UK RAV4 prime in RHD and we can't have one in Australia.
Thank you! I have been waiting for this review for a long time. We ordered one in Oct21 and still waiting. We are scheduled to receive our RAV4 Adventure (in Safari Green) between May and June 22. Hopefully, no more delays. 🙏🏼
@@14shereeMaid24 Yes, it does 😀. Somehow looking at reviews like this makes me feel secure that we made the right choice and the wait is worth it. Congrats on your new car! Keep safe.

thanks for your review, i've been searching rav4 almost everyday just can't wait to see it from different view. Hopefully I can get my car in this year.
Thanks Paul. You dissuaded me from buying the Tiguan a couple of years ago due to body flex. Now you’ve dissuaded me from buying the RAV4 due to the infotainment among other things. Next!!
It's around $58500 drive away Price. One month with edge Hybrid absolutely love it. Driven 1300km amazing 5.2L/100km Cruiser and all other model got front grill feel bit cheap silver plastic. Edge got some quality front grill and 19" alloy wheels with awesome design. Ventilated cooling front seats are great. Digital rear view camera superb. You will never go back to normal mode once you go digital awesome quality camera 100/100. LED projector lights superb 100/100 Did some off road drive on trail mode absolutely blown away with ride quality. Eco and normal mode very helpful in daily commute. Haven't tried yet sport and ev mode. Heads up display missing but not big fan of it. Radar cruise control is awesome. Cons No memory seat function for two drivers Passenger side manual adjustment seat. Ambient lighting can be better. No Wireless android auto and apple car play. Camera quality (when you reverse your car) is not so great. Ride quality 100/100 and reliability of vehicle and Toyota reputation will make you to forget all cons.
Great review Paul, I waited a total of around 16 months for my Oct 2020 Rav4 Cruiser AWD and couldn't be happier. Interesting segment though as some nice exciting products have now been released by Hyundai and Kia. Would love to see the same tech in the Rav.
Thank you Paul for a great informative review. I have one of these vehicles and it's a pleasure to drive in comparison to the 2.0lt 2WD variant. Sadly Toyota decided, in their wisdom to save a few dollars, to remove the Centre Console tray found in the cheaper models, they have not included memory seat positions for 3 seperate drivers as found in the Cruiser Hybrid version nor does it have an 8 way adjustable front passenger seat again found in the Cruiser. All it has above the cheaper variants is the 'Trail' button, which you touched on Paul, yet the Edge Hybrid AWD costs another $3720 more than the fully specked Cruiser Hybrid AWD ??? It's also a real disappointment that Toyota have chosen not to include wireless Apple Car play. Other than that it's a great mid sized SUV.
True, the petrol edge makes some sense for those who may wish to do some very mild off road driving as it has torque vectoring and can send engine power to the rear unlike the hybrid versions. The only reason to buy the edge hybrid is if you really really liked the trim (doubtful) or perhaps if the wait time was significantly less than the cruiser version and you couldn't wait any longer.
You do get the 'rear cross traffic alert system with added break function' and 'parking support break' with the Edge. The latter has saved me once already. But you make some very good points, and they are literally my biggest issues with this vehicle.
I wonder if it is some substance were forced to take but had to sign a waiver if injury or death arises due to the experimental nature of said substance 🤫🤔
Paul, could you do a segment / review on hybrid batteries - how long they last (km / time), replacement costs, can a (RAV4) hybrid drive with a dead battery etc. Thanks
Been waiting for this. We just ordered this exact Rav4 last week. Was told to wait 6-9 months. We are willing to wait as it is definitely gonna be worth it. 😄🥴
Hey Paul, thanks for all the Info that you give in a review, Would love to see a comparison with Rav4 hybrid and CRV Hybrid.. Hope that one comes soon so we get to see how both those hybrid compare with each other. Thanks and Keep doing these review videos.. Cheers.
Sitting in mine at this minute, love it. Ev mode is pretty much non existent I found, every time I select it, it always says the hybrid battery not enough charge or some other excuse. We tow a camper no worries, still heaps of overtaking power when required. it’s got that slight siren noise which takes a little getting used to, probably generated by the electric motors going into regen , especially when slowing at the lights, gets the eyes looking for emergency vehicles. Definitely worth the wait.
The people who are ordering these now will be getting their car at the end of its life by the time it arrives in two years and will be watching the whole new model driving past! Damn!
Very nice car review, details by details and nice video framing also, we can see all what your talking about, not too fast and not too slow as well. I love Rav 4, my dream car. 😊
Good review as always. Keep up the good work!. I'm one of those lucky RAV4 customers, placed the order in Feb 2022 got mine delivered in Nov 2022. All thanks to someone cancelled their order after a long wait, which made my wait shorter. 😀
Hey Paul ... I would love if you would do a comparison review between the 3.2 and 2.0 litre biturbo Ford Everest or ranger and pay special focus on the transmission, engine, towing capabilities and the fact that some people say displacement can't be replaced.... Also is the smaller biturbo engine stressed alot to affect its general lifespan in the long run
My wife has a 2022 Cruiser AWD with 4000km on the clock and averaging 5.6 litres per 100k. I cannot see the value of an Edge compared to the Cruiser. The Cruiser has an electric front passenger seat, heated and cooled and to me, a far nicer interior. Headlights are really good plus it drives and rides really well, I have more room in the front passenger seat than in my Prado. It is the first new car we have owned that has actually exceeded our expectations.
Paul, I bought RAV4 hybrid cruiser last week… it is fantastic so far… infotainment and the camera quality was a disappointment! Grow up Toyota! They are still stuck 1990s… other than that it is all good … My fuel consumption is still around 7.2l/100. Maybe because I’m doing mostly suburban driving… I’ll do a freeway/suburban driving soon and let you all know… great work paul… love your work mate
Hi Paul thanks for another great review. I've owned my 2020 RAV4 Hybrid cruiser for about 18 months and find it just a brilliant SUV, it drives and performs beautifully and the fuel economy is just excellent. However I agree with you that the 2022 update should have brought a little more in upgrades in the infotainment area etc and I'll never understand why Toyota only put 1 USB port in the front and don't provide free map updates at least for the first few years of ownership I would also like to know the advantages in buying an Edge over the Cruiser. I'm not a fan of the Edge's interior with all the orange bits and pieces. There is no memory seat adjustment on the drivers side and no electric seat adjustment on the passenger side. However overall in Hybrid form it is probably the best SUV currently on the market and (if you can) well worth the wait to get one.
hey bro! My father wants to buy a RAV 4 Hybrid with 218PS. Do u guys think its a car which will last long? Cause we wanted to buy a jeep at first, but jeep has no experience with plug in and hybrid. Toyota is such a company which offers high quality cars. Whats your opinion on the RAV 4? Will it be worth it and do u think it will last long without running to a garage everytime?
Trust me whoever see my edge interior and seats quality they all love it orange trims including me. Edge 19" wheels ( ride quality is different for sure) and front grill quality is totally different and also design. That's it. Cruiser make more sense if you can wait over 6 to 8 months. I just got edge with in 2 months.
That’s an impressive vehicle and I like this blue colour, it reminds me of a blue 1967 toyota crown station wagon that a family friend had from new and it was a fantastic car in it’s day which also proved to be very durable. I’ve been reluctant to go for a hybrid because they are very complex though this has proved to be not a problem with Toyota as they have turned out to be very reliable but it probably also means that only Toyota can service it which is probably ok if you live in an area where you have a choice of dealerships.
Put a deposit down on ours last week. Hybrid Cruiser AWD. Long wait time though... Hopefully the new tech update will be added by the time I get it ! 👍
I test drove one. I didn't like the engine/transmission at higher speeds or uphill. I've been driving a CVT for the past 10 years and I'm a bit over it now. It's great for city driving though. Ended up getting a Mazda6 wagon. I don't like the higher centre of gravity of SUVs. I find it unsettling.
I know right! I had a 2020 Rav4 Cruiser Hybrid AND I couldn't stand how you went up hills and it always picked the wrong gear to go into the engine was over reving, I have mentioned this before on other rav4 videos on UA-cam and I get criticism for it. I hated that car, the reverse camera was so bad 😫, everything was very lacking and outdated. I sold it and got a 2022 Kia Sportage GT Diesel and couldn't be happier it's such a big step up compared to the rav4.
The high revving is due to the engine keeping in the most thermally efficient range when loaded up, its more efficient as excess power is used to drive the electric motors or charge the battery.
@@angelabroderick5375 I get it, but how did you back vehicles before all this tech was introduced to vehicles. Have you become too reliant on all this modern tech ?
@@johnmartin7158 not at all I actually prefer a basic manual car, my first car was a 89 Suzuki Sierra, after that have owned a string of small manual cars. Hubby has a 2015 Suzuki Swift manual and gotta say I prefer it most days over my new 2022 Sportage because again it engages the driver and goes like the clappers.
Thanks Paul - Toyota have hit the mark with the attractive exterior styling which I think is is well balanced and yes having been a long term Forester owner I do like the cladding which has protected my wheel arches many times on narrow bush tracks - I don’t like the ‘glued on’ infotainment screen that many manufacturers use as it really should be incorporated into the dash - not a good look to have an inferior rear camera display for this much money - too much bling orange inside - but it’s still the best SUV in its class - happy to own one - John in SA
Have a 8/2020 Cruiser Hybrid with 30k. Long term economy is 5.4. It's quiet, roomy for its size and doesn't handle to bad on those high profile tyres. Servicing is seriously cheap. But a couple of things: Can't believe they continue to use the same infotainment unit with quite awful camera resolution. Not only is it worse than my previous 2017 Sportage but it's even worse than my old VF Commodore. Another irritating niggle is no automatic mirror folding. And finally, perhaps it's our age but we don't find it all that comfortable on long trips; certainly not as comfortable as our FG Ute. Overall though it's pretty ideal for what we want. If we were in the market for a new medium SUV I would take a serious look at the new Sportage in AWD diesel form. All things being equal I think I prefer it. It's just a matter of weather it's worth the extra litre every 100, the significantly higher service costs and if we want another diesel.
We have done 2000k in our 2022 hybrid Cruiser AWD. Averaging 5.6k per 100 for a mix of country and city driving. Headlights are excellent. I say this as reviewers never seem to drive at night and never mention the headlights. Everything works perfectly it is comfortable, quiet, smooth, handles well and reasonably powerful. Fit and finish excellent. I like the way the Bluetooth links to my phone and automatically plays the internet music the phone is tuned into and will continue with the same music when the car is restarted. I cannot understand the benefit of the Edge, with its ugly interior compared th the cruiser particularly as the Edge costs significantly more.
The edge interior is really cool. Especially the white one and super low maintenance. you don't need to buy any special products to brush and foam the leather
I bought the Edge HB as i liked the interior compared to Cruiser model but then i also had an FJ cruiser so its a taste thing and not for everyone. I agree there are some head scratching thoughts regarding the Edge price tag and its minimal changes compared to Cruiser models, but wasnt a deal breaker and the fact i went from a 2014 model car (FJ) to this 2022 model for basically a straight change over figure was a no brainer, plus with the recent fuel price hike and the fuel savings between the Hybrid and the FJ are incredible.
What's up with Toyota. They just love to be the infotainment catch up specialists. I still think they lag about 3 years behind the competition - except for their pricing.
re the window test, I vaguely remember the made the back windows only open 1/2 way as some kids apparently fell out while the car was moving. This was before seat belts though
I received my 2022 Eclipse Black RAV4 Edge in mid February (very lucky, I know). It's a great vehicle to drive. So economical and during low speeds (25km/h and under) it's basically running in EV mode automatically unless you accelerate hard. Instead of idling the engine is shut off completely and the air-conditioning is running off the battery. My main issue is actually the passenger seat. It does have the a/c cooling but it is not electric. It is also only a 4 way manual, meaning it has no hight adjustment. This is a pain because it is higher than the driver's seat and with the moon roof it doesn't leave that much head room. Also the wired Android auto is a bit disappointing. Something else missed in the review is the 'Rear cross traffic alert system with added break function' (so if a car or kid goes past as you are reversing the vehicle will automatically stop) and a parking support break (which I can tell you works). And just as a bonus, there is a card holder immediately below the little orange shelf on the right hand side of the steering wheel. All and all, I'm very happy with the vehicle. I'm certainly stoaked to be in possession of one and the Eclipse Black Edge looks awesome.
@@zieisa6754, I think the Eclipse Black is the best colour. Looks so sharp 👌 I got paint protection and window tints put in and it just looks that little bit better. The only thing not black on it is the Toyota badge and the Hybrid badges. (And my number plate). 'RAV4' and 'Edge' are black badges. It's probably easier to hide dust on a silver colour, but even with a bit of dust on it, it still looks awesome. Glad to have this colour.
Thank you Paul. I just purchased a RAV4 and the wait is 2 years. I asked the salesperson for the jungle kaki but he said there are only 4 options. I have already placed an order and after watching your video. I am also not happy with the remote unit. You reckon they will pull up the gam and upgrade the remote unit and the camera quality. Or else I might just cancel the booking and get another car.
Hey Paul we have had our cruiser hybrid 2wd for 2 years 70k kms. The most petrol I have ever got into the car is 45l, frustrating I don’t know why. Petrol consumption is 5.6l/100km but we do mostly (95%) highway so others may get better. Love the car, the ride is so plush(better than our ‘luxury car’),takes a beating on the road and by the kids. Cheap to run also.
Hi Paul Had my Rav 4 hybrid cruiser and clocked up 36000 Kay’s so far and absolutely love the car as it is just such a comfortable competent cruiser. The fuel economy is another bonus as with the fuel price hike rise .I do agree with you with the camera as it is a real disappointment especially in rainy weather and at night don’t like it but as for the rest of the car won’t change it for anything else

Hi Paul, Great review as we are looking to order a 2022/2023 model shortly. Unsure what the designer was on when they thought the cheap orange plastic was a good idea. I understand with the 2023 model the infotainment screen is a bit bigger, although having to plug in your phone and no heads up display is very old school. Still there is enough pro's to make the switch. Thank you!
Definitely the best exterior on a rav, that blue is much nicer than the baby blue - but that interior makes this an automatic no. I've got an n line tucson I'll be taking delivery of in a few weeks, quite happy with the decision.
Good choice, I nailed down to this, the n line Hyundai Tucson and a brand new 2022 outlander in exceed trim and I must say was close between the Tucson and outlander but I ended up going for the outlander just based on my needs and it’s good 4x4 system and I’m a Japanese brand Tragic. However the Tucson’s a much better car than the rav, sorry Toyota
@@JasonISF oh I know, but that doesn't concern me. Happy to pay extra for what I believe will be a more enjoyable ownership experience. I'm getting the diesel at least and 80% of my driving is 110km on the freeway, so I won't be using that much more anyway. (plus the hybrid would struggle to charge for me anyway and probably consume more than my diesel!)
Hi, I find the comment about a lot of idling causing bad fuel consumption confusing. Surely in a HEV when stationary there is no idling and no consumption, neither petrol nor battery.

Hey Paul. Have had 1 for almost 12 month. Love it. Would love to know your thoughs on their (Toyota's) PHEV version if it would be worth it and if Toyota will even bring it to Australia. Cheers for your reviews mate.
I know that. And was never expecting lower than 6lt/100. Nore was i complaining. I dont want a diesel, as spending 10 years in the automotive industry diesels should have staied in the commercial sector. Comparing to my old (then new) T31 Nissan Xtrail 2.5lt petrol. Same sort of driving we would get 10.2-11.5lt/100. Would like a PHEV as around our town, its too small to benefit from the stopstart that the hybrid excel in. And a PHEV, we would run on electric in town, hybrid in city.
@@brokenSnake I've noticed short trips and anything other than a flat road, bring up the consumption a bit in my 2022 Camry Hybrid. Still getting AVG 5.2 l/100km in the month i've owned it which is great.
Yeah definitely and the seating options, I used to own a 2020 Rav4 hybrid cruiser sold it everything was too slow and outdated now the 2022 Kia Sportage GT Diesel is a real delight, love how everything works so well and it fits my 6ft husband is the front as I couldn't because the lack of seat adjustment for the passenger in the rav4 was a huge issue.
I drove the Sportage diesel and yes it was an impressive drive. But, for numerous reasons, we bought the RAV. Anyone interested in discussing running costs? I just paid $2.30 a litre to fill my Hilux.

Hi Paul, I really appreciate your review. The best review among many reviewers. Heads off. Just wanted to get your view on the difference btw cruiser and edge hybrid. The price difference is almost 4 k plus. Is it worth going for edge. After seeing your review, I’m bit confused. Please recommend. I just order edge. But have the option to change. Thanks
Waited 10 months for the hybrid cruiser. Fantastic car. I actually thought it was was a 45 litre tank. No way 55. Fuel economy urban driving 5.6l/100 average. Servicing costs cheap too. Need wireless carplay or android auto. Pointless having wireless charging. Tailgate speed painfully slow. I actually think that the engine noise in the cabin is quite loud when it kicks in over the electric motor. besides those minor points, the care is seriously good. Overall perfect for what I need.
At 14.15 the fuel consumption is terrible at 8.9l/100kl. The reason is because the car has been idling. Umm why does a hybrid electric car need to sit still with engine running? Can someone explain please. Nice review of a nice car but omg my old D40 6 speed manual Nissan diesel 4X4 twin cab ute averages 8.5l/100km.
Even in today's car climate, it's possible to negotiate below MSRP which sits at $54749 driveaway. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If I were quoted $70k, I'd tell the dealership to go *&^% themselves.
@@EnShinNoi our local dealer toyota is selling "2nd hand" cars with 1k on cloak for 1k less then retail, last owner was a interstate car company. Quite clear there is dodgy crap going on.
The re-sale value of this thing is best in class.! You will get nearly all your money back when you sell. This should be mentioned rather than infotainment quirks IMO. So low fuel consumption, sensational re-sale and plenty of room makes sense. AWD version drives way nicer than 2WD. 2WD only version drives like a front wheel drive vehicle so AWD for me.
Just bought a 22 cruiser hybrid. Love it. Had for 4 weeks and have filled up twice. Averaging 4.6-5.3l per 100.

Exactly what I thought!
The US market standard JBL unit screen fills more of the binnacle and it can be upgraded at an extra cost. I fear Toyota Aus doesn’t do it as a way of moving people up to the Lexus

Thank you! I have been waiting for this review for a long time. We ordered one in Oct21 and still waiting. We are scheduled to receive our RAV4 Adventure (in Safari Green) between May and June 22. Hopefully, no more delays. 🙏🏼
I ordered mine in, june 21 and It’s in transit at the moment. It’s been a patience tester
@@14shereeMaid24 Yes, it does 😀. Somehow looking at reviews like this makes me feel secure that we made the right choice and the wait is worth it.
Congrats on your new car! Keep safe.
Has your SUV been delivered and if so what do you think?
@@djkeelan1633 It just reached NZ today, and will take another 2 to 3 weeks to get cleared from customs, registered and complete the final inspection. Luckily, it is not part of the recall. 😀
thanks for your review, i've been searching rav4 almost everyday just can't wait to see it from different view. Hopefully I can get my car in this year.
Thanks for the review Paul! I’ve been waiting for my rav4 cruiser awd hybrid for 18mths now! She better be worth it! 😊
Great review Paul. Pushed me to the Mazda CX5 Akera
Just took delivery of my Akera a couple days ago, you won't regret it. It's an amazing car!
@@MKWIISims318 Thanks mate. I reckon you are right. It's a pearler!! Congratulations on your great purchase.
A great car but for me I would only buy the diesel as petrol version car just chomps the petrol.
@@kbling2946 Fair enough mate. For me it's the turbo petrol. Five of those in our midst and we don't find them guzzlers.
Thanks Paul. You dissuaded me from buying the Tiguan a couple of years ago due to body flex. Now you’ve dissuaded me from buying the RAV4 due to the infotainment among other things. Next!!
I opt for edge hybrid and got it in 2 weeks after booking. Only disappointment is no electric passenger seats. Rest all good !
May I know which dealer you ordered from?
It's around $58500 drive away Price.
One month with edge Hybrid absolutely love it. Driven 1300km amazing 5.2L/100km
Cruiser and all other model got front grill feel bit cheap silver plastic. Edge got some quality front grill and 19" alloy wheels with awesome design. Ventilated cooling front seats are great.
Digital rear view camera superb. You will never go back to normal mode once you go digital awesome quality camera 100/100.
LED projector lights superb 100/100
Did some off road drive on trail mode absolutely blown away with ride quality.
Eco and normal mode very helpful in daily commute. Haven't tried yet sport and ev mode.
Heads up display missing but not big fan of it. Radar cruise control is awesome.
Cons
No memory seat function for two drivers
Passenger side manual adjustment seat.
Ambient lighting can be better.
No Wireless android auto and apple car play.
Camera quality (when you reverse your car) is not so great.
Ride quality 100/100 and reliability of vehicle and Toyota reputation will make you to forget all cons.
Great review Paul,
I waited a total of around 16 months for my Oct 2020 Rav4 Cruiser AWD and couldn't be happier.
Interesting segment though as some nice exciting products have now been released by Hyundai and Kia.
Would love to see the same tech in the Rav.
One last comment, I’d like to see a comparison of the two edge options including off roading (sand, mud, dirt)
I think the mentality at Toyota is, “I’m number one so why try harder?” The cheap halogens at the rear are another sign of this.
Be careful guys. Alot of ppl getting heart attacks these days and heart inflammation problems! ... Stay safe 🙏
Great review Paul 👍

Been waiting for this. We just ordered this exact Rav4 last week. Was told to wait 6-9 months. We are willing to wait as it is definitely gonna be worth it. 😄🥴
Have you got the vehicle?
@@jaxhenry7973 nope. We ended up getting the corolla cross.
Hey Paul, thanks for all the Info that you give in a review, Would love to see a comparison with Rav4 hybrid and CRV Hybrid.. Hope that one comes soon so we get to see how both those hybrid compare with each other. Thanks and Keep doing these review videos.. Cheers.
Jaysus imagine waiting 12 months for your new car and when it finally arrives it's a Toyota! Madness.....
There is a rumors that 2023 version are coming with updated infotainment system and software. Do reckon that's true
My daughter has the Edge and the orange is actually really nice.
The people who are ordering these now will be getting their car at the end of its life by the time it arrives in two years and will be watching the whole new model driving past! Damn!
I ordered a Cruiser last week. Likely waiting more than 2 years. I hope an upgrade comes with Head Up Display. Any chance?
Paul/ editor, it would be good to actually press the push button start when you show the button. Good review just like the others on this channel.
Will you do an updated Mazda CX-5 review in the near future?
Yes :-) early April.
Hi Paul thanks for another great review.
I've owned my 2020 RAV4 Hybrid cruiser for about 18 months and find it just a brilliant SUV, it drives and performs beautifully and the fuel economy is just excellent.
However I agree with you that the 2022 update should have brought a little more in upgrades in the infotainment area etc and I'll never understand why Toyota only put 1 USB port in the front and don't provide free map updates at least for the first few years of ownership
I would also like to know the advantages in buying an Edge over the Cruiser.
You teased a Ford f 150 a while back.... I am impatiently waiting for the full review to go live on the channel
Not for sale in Australia.
Man i wish they would bring back the FJ cruisers. some of the coolest looking vehicles i see on the road
The vibe they’re going for the discontinued one of the FJ.. 😂😂 ouchtown Paul!
You do a good job on your reviews
That’s an impressive vehicle and I like this blue colour, it reminds me of a blue 1967 toyota crown station wagon that a family friend had from new and it was a fantastic car in it’s day which also proved to be very durable.
I’ve been reluctant to go for a hybrid because they are very complex though this has proved to be not a problem with Toyota as they have turned out to be very reliable but it probably also means that only Toyota can service it which is probably ok if you live in an area where you have a choice of dealerships.
Love my RAV4. Trusty car. At least you know it’s going to be reliable.
Put a deposit down on ours last week. Hybrid Cruiser AWD. Long wait time though... Hopefully the new tech update will be added by the time I get it ! 👍
Hi Paul, when are you going to review the Lexus NX? Keen to get your opinion of NX, and how is it compared to RAV4.
Review goes live next week 😁
@@CarExpertAus looking forward to that.
@@beflat_trumpeter are you sure because my previous car 2015 Corolla non hybrid did the same thing completely gutless up hills
Automatic mirror folding added in the late 2020 update, I have it on my Cruiser Hybrid
Rav4 Edge. That's a name that's come back from the dead
Hey Paul your reviews are amazing I know it already to late review this car but is it fine if you can review the lexus is 500 F
i love the look of this car in this colour it's like my shirt and my phone case colour looks even nice for me
I too try to match my phone with my car. Women notice these things.
@@mvnorsel6354 nice i love that
We have done 2000k in our 2022 hybrid Cruiser AWD.
Is there lights on the buttons on the door handle?
What's up with Toyota. They just love to be the infotainment catch up specialists.
I still think they lag about 3 years behind the competition - except for their pricing.
3 yrs behind?.. i reckon 9 yrs..but people buying em..smart TOYOTA
That's Toyota for ya.
That’s just Toyota l, that’s there thing
Order now and you might get it in 2024…
re the window test, I vaguely remember the made the back windows only open 1/2 way as some kids apparently fell out while the car was moving.
Are you happy with the colour.. Is it hard to keep it stay clean
@@zieisa6754, I think the Eclipse Black is the best colour. Looks so sharp 👌
I got paint protection and window tints put in and it just looks that little bit better.
@@Fraaank41 yeahh In my opinion edge look so good in eclipse black and I have cruiser on order in eclipse black too.. Can't wait!
You'd think, highway cruising would use the EV side of things better and save more petrol? So you didnt get the 4.5l/100 and 1000kms on a tank?
RAV4 does need a redesign compared to other SUV’s on the market. Their rear design looks about 10 years behind the competition.
Hi Paul
Had my Rav 4 hybrid cruiser and clocked up 36000 Kay’s so far and absolutely love the car as it is just such a comfortable competent cruiser. The fuel economy is another bonus as with the fuel price hike rise .I do agree with you with the camera as it is a real disappointment especially in rainy weather and at night don’t like it but as for the rest of the car won’t change it for anything else

We won’t be doing a full review, but will have an off-road review with all of the cars in the segment coming in April.
Thank you!
when will you be looking at the XSE?
@CarExpert can you review Fj Cruiser?
Its an excellent excellent car. So well sorted. My pick of the segment easily.
It's a very nice RAV4
Did you go diesel or petrol? My shortlist is RAV-4, Tucson or Sportage.
@@Richard-sl8we diesel, it was great to test drive.
Also I only ordered in January, so it will be a 3month delivery.
You'll be spending a lot more on fuel compared to a Toyota hybrid.
15:44, drive modes, I had to search WTF that is, turns out we know where you're driving these things now (otherwise I was going to question your music choice?! :)
Hey Paul. Have had 1 for almost 12 month. Love it. We average between 5.7 to 6.2Lt/100, thats combined small town (2 to 5km trips) and country drives to the city and back (300km rou d trips) so combind we are very happy.
Would love to know your thoughs on their (Toyota's) PHEV version if it would be worth it and if Toyota will even bring it to Australia.
Cheers for your reviews mate.
Your average would be much better if there were no high way driving as on the highway the batteries don't get charged as you aren't slowing/braking.
@@JasonISF true - I often see 3.0 when I have a full battery and am pottering around at 30 to 40 km/h
I get like 7.1l/100 with eco score of 90-97. Not sure what I'm doing wrong
@@brokenSnake I've noticed short trips and anything other than a flat road, bring up the consumption a bit in my 2022 Camry Hybrid. Still getting AVG 5.2 l/100km in the month i've owned it which is great.
Interior is so outdated. The Sportage puts this to shame
Feels like one of the worst in the segment, the Sportage, CX5, Tuscon, etc. all feel a lot more premium.
I have a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser. I pump when the fuel light comes on, even if the console says 50-70km to empty. I get between 45-48L into the tank.
Hey Paul, what happened to the CE podcast this week, or is Mandy taking a break?
Sorry about that! Will be back next week :-)
Owner of 2021 RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid AWD. I would love to buy Edge if it had a Hybrid version, and it has much better exterior. I guess there’s not too much difference in driving experience.
What do you think he's reviewing ? The car 'IS' an Edge Hybrid 2022 model. >??
Hi Paul, I really appreciate your review. The best review among many reviewers. Heads off. Just wanted to get your view on the difference btw cruiser and edge hybrid. The price difference is almost 4 k plus. Is it worth going for edge. After seeing your review, I’m bit confused. Please recommend. I just order edge. But have the option to change. Thanks
Good question. Hopefully someone does a video of it later
Edge has a unique look and is the "top" of the range. If that's important to you, then 4k is worth it.
The different in look was the winner for me… I love the totally different front look on my edge…
You must have driven like hell, I average 6.6 since I have my AWD hybrid full options, with sometimes low to 3.3l in the city...😀

Does Australia also get the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro? I would love to see a review on that car.

My RAV4 hybrid (2021 GX) has only ever filled with 48l after running til 10km dte, with no low fuel light showing.
I wonder why there is none of the cars with a standard place to put your phone in front of you.
I want your prices, as i was quoted over 70 tho AUD drive away for a Edge hybrid !!! I also checked out a, GT line Kia Sportage over 60K
Even in today's car climate, it's possible to negotiate below MSRP which sits at $54749 driveaway. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If I were quoted $70k, I'd tell the dealership to go *&^% themselves.

The re-sale value of this thing is best in class.! You will get nearly all your money back when you sell. This should be mentioned rather than infotainment quirks IMO.
