  • The Maury High School Garden Club students have been working on a pollinator garden at Maury High School for several years. Seed was obtained from the Elizabeth River Project and staff members at Maury High School and started in flats over several weeks. In addition to common milkweed, packets of shoand swamp milkweed were started. As the seeds grow, they will be placed into small cups for distribution to staff and students with planting instructions. 1,500 milkweed plants each covering 1.5 sq ft will plant 2,250 sq ft, or nearly .05 acre. Repeating this small project annually will, in the long run, make a big and lasting impact on local pollinators!
