I highly suggest investing in garage upgrades, makes working on your stuff so much more enjoyabout in the summer, IM in AZ, and us smarter car guys put insulation on the garage door, put some blown insulation above the ceiling, and while some do permanent swamp coolers or AC units, i built a panel that is as wide as the garage door, (2 pcs) but has a hole in it that a swamp cooler fits in, so I pull the release on the garage and lower it down onto the panel and crank on the cooler, with in 15 mins the garage is 75 degrees while its 100+ outside. You would need an AC unit in florida but its so worth it and can be done for under 500 bucks.

Just in case Taylor sees this: next time, to save you hammering in a really tight space where you can't swing the hammer, use a length of 2×4 and hammer on the end of that pressing against the surface you want out of the way.
You end up with a much better finish because it won't chip as much, plus you have proper room to swing your tool about!

Hope you increased the ring gap this time.
As for the reason why. If you add boost and thus add fuel the combustion chamber thermal load goes up. If the rings are gaped for NA when the rings expand from the extra thermal energy they will butt up against each other, left with nowhere to expand they will fracture the ring lands off the piston and curl up.
Low boost and only at high rpms for a short time NA ring gap will probably hold up. But as you are drifting you are riding the redline all the time at near WOT.

If you got your miata n/a would you still turbo it or just get a car with more power just a question because of the issues you've been having with the turbo setup previously.

did you forget to prime to turbo before starting it? you know for the oil to go in it?
Hold a bar of soap under the contact side of the belt that is squeezing and it won't squeak anymore!! Promise. 💯 (I use pliers to hold the bar while the engine is running.)

If you're looking for AN parts a good place to go is Aviall. Its a aviation parts company but they usually carry all kinds of parts that could be useful for your builds.
TAYLOR! get a candle stick and run the wax on the grip/slip side of the belt so its stops slipping/rubbing and making that awful sound ahaha, plus its good for the belts to get a little wax under the. Aussie backyard mechanics :D

Taylor, what BC racing coilover setup would you recommend for a stock JDM S2000. (2001). Wanting to upsize the stock rims from 16's to 17's, or 18's, and run wider tires.
I know the stock setup is fairly decent, but if you have any ideas please let me know, looking to run BC cuz of you :-)

Hea brother i hear you on the 2 hours turning into two days. I put a intake on my ride yesterday and i thought "yea ill have that job done in 20 min and it turned into 4 hours. now I can use this short 13 to tighten this down ahh lmao 😂its always one of the last bolts it slips on
