The narrator's voice is very sibilant, hopefully the cartridge tracks better.

Ortofon sure went all out with the advertising schmaltz on this one. That stylus looks like it has an excessive amount of rake.

OK, very nice, but u should, by now, know - the LASER DISC is the end of the line, regarding anal-log recording. At least that is the verdict from some experts. Why, then, you don't develop good usable - nice looking devices + reintroduce it to the world ?? No, with todays' DACs there's no NEED in all this, but if the outfit will be, properly done - people will buy.
OK, at least - LASER reading from LPs. It's an existing tech from late 70s.
I understand that to sell people an MC cartridge for 16000 $ is very funny, but how many CAN afford those ? This GREED is killing the LP industry for many people, who thought they will manage to enjoy the LP sound for not allllllllot of money.

It is just a pity that they have lost their knowledge when it comes to 78rpm compatible cartridges. They should make a usable 3mil 78rpm stylus with a tracking force of 5g or more. Unfortunately, all they have have is 2.7mil (65µm), which is too small for most historical records, and they all range from 1.8g to 3.5g tracking force. This means that skipping is guaranteed on a record that's not perfectly flat.

They haven't, it's just not financially viable to manufacture them anymore.

@@hansemannluchter643 Hmm, but there are at least three current 78rpm Ortofon models available: OM 78, 2M 78, and the SPU Mono CG65Di mkII.
It's merely the design problems that makes them unusable for most applications.
