I liked that cities in the US have those bike racks, we don't have that in Germany. But I normally skip the Bus entirely, because it's slow. It's faster to go by train and do the last mile by bike.
Do the math.... Minneapolis 885 buses (270,900 daily ridership) Phoenix 1229 (150000) Portland 625 (312000) D.C. 1480 (439,424) Las Vegas 708 (178,000) Kansas City 250 (50,000) Seattle 1443 (400000) NYC 5700 (2.6 million) NYC MTA crisscrosses the entire city with buses and subways 6300 (5.5 million) I think the city has you covered with trains and buses so walk the extra block! Over 8 million people do it every day.
New York City finds ways to fuck things up we used to have a bike rack on the Q bx1 bus 1993 and then the New York City MTA took overover all the bus routes and got rid of it after 9/11
Really? The buses don't have bike racks in NY? That seems... very very odd. Is the congestion in NY city so bad that the 15-20 seconds to put a bike on the rack is not acceptable? Seriously? Damn that sucks. But seriously putting bike rack on or in the bus is a good idea, its just nice to have. And don't alot of people in NY city ride bicycles? :/
iridium56 There are now bike racks on the following routes: Staten Island Division: S53 S93 Bronx Division: Bx23 Q50 These 4 routes operate over bridges with no bike lanes or pedestrian paths.
Purple Sword 3 Not really. It takes them like 15-20 seconds load and unload the bike. This saves bikers an hour compared going out of their way to use facilities with pedestrian paths.

What?
Some places there requires three buses to get to that's why people like to ride bikes

this only adds to ride time. nyc buses are slow enough, especially in Brooklyn. ever take the B8 bus?
