Weird how others have right to shelter, but the homeless living in the same city do not!

a big problem with Homeless people is that most of them are Drgu addicts, when you get Shelters you need to follow rules, one rule is that you cannot do drugs there... so many homeless people get trown out or dont go there to begin with...

If there’s a law like that it applies to everyone but I suppose it’s not easy for them to go to court or find representation. The whole concept of a right to shelter isn’t feasible, it’s NYC there’s only so much space and way too many people who want to live there. This law is from a time when you probably got shot if you wandered into the wrong neighborhood, now everyone wants to live there. This right to shelter is a nice idea but is it really compassionate when you can’t deliver on such a promise?

I work with the homeless and this infuriates me. We never have money to help our own, but we always have money for all of these wars. The countries that we fund have universal healthcare. The migrants are getting more assistance than the actual homeless here and it is sickening.

Just for perspective there were 300,000 illegal immigrants that came across the border last month. The people in those small border towns get no notice those people come 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The problem is the amount of people coming across the southern border. Our southern border needs to be closed. It's unsustainable for the country as a whole.

It has always baffled me how our government can put so much effort into helping homeless people from other countries but don't seem to apply that same effort into helping the homeless from our own country. It’s honestly a bit difficult to talk about what is wrong in this situation. Personally, I think citizens of the United States, like most European countries, should be the number one priority of our government. We pay the taxes, most were born here, and we have a culture that is unique to us. It’s great that we’re helping other people in need of help, but honestly, it’s obvious where our priorities should be. Also, we give people asylum in that airfield for FREE because it is our ONLY resource at the moment, and people don’t even want to stay.

I recall a New Yorker around 2-3 years ago telling me we should let everyone cross into America and live here if they wanted to. I told him that border cities are struggling to manage the flow of people coming in and we can't take them all. The New Yorker told me "That's what we send them money for, so they can do it." That's how I believe a lot of the border towns and states view the liberal sanctuary cities up north. Bleeding hearts throwing money at a problem, but crumble when asked to help physically shoulder the burden others have been having to carry for years. Willing to let everyone in...so long as it's not THEIR neighborhood that has to deal with it.

New York voted against keeping illegal immigrants out of the country, which lead to them flooding southern states that couldn't afford to deal with it. So those southern states are sending them to new York, since new York wanted then in the country but wasn't paying for it.
Now new York is being flooded with them and they are complaining. Well, the old saying, they made their bed, now they can lay in it. If they want it to stop then they should vote against allowing illegal immigrants into the country

They vacated all the old residents in need to be in this NH to house immigrants. I’m guessing they are getting paid very handsomely to do this. Then they are ungrateful. WE already pay for 30% of Americans to be on some form of welfare as well. OH!! And I forgot to mention that we have a TON of baby boomers about to retire that are going to make social security, Medicare, and Medicaid difficult to fund too. Even when these migrants do get jobs (which they often don't and remain on welfare largely), they tend to be low wage jobs which means that they get welfare and other supplemental benefits...basically the cost to provide healthcare and provide schooling for their kids costs more to the tax payer than the money they bring in with their labor. Also, we are going to a more automated economy and are losing low skill jobs every day to tech. We don't need a lot of low skill workers in our current economy.

As long as it doesn't have an impact on me.." etc. There was an interesting study from the UK where they studied people's attitudes towards immigrants. The low-education group was the most negative as the immigrants often took their jobs and high-education group was the most supportive since they considered themselves to be so educated that the immigrants couldn't do their jobs. But as more and more people with an immigrant background got an education and entered these high-education jobs, so did the attitudes of these workers become more negative. People are "tolerant" and "open-minded" as long as immigrants do not directly threaten their lifestyle.

We are a super small country, yet seem to have to bend over backwards to accomodate anyone who comes here (illegally) and provide them everything. They are getting expensive healthcare, food, a warm place to stay (While many dutch citizens can't afford their energy bill) and are given priority on housing, while some dutch citizens have to wait for 15+years to ever have a chance at a house. All the others are expensive and the market is too competitive because there are too many people crammed on this small space on earth.

This is absolute insanity. I myself am an immigrant who came 25 years ago on a student visa, finished college, went through a graduate school and afterwards worked for 5 years on H1B visa, and then got my green card. In every step I had to re-apply for legal status extension and pay my dues. To get a green card based on my successful scientific career, I spent about $14K between immigration lawyer and application fees. Now illegals come here, claim asylum and get 4-5 years working permit within weeks (e.g. I know few from Venezuela who came here illegally through MX and they all got 4 or 5 years working permit. WTF? My co-worker from Europe, Ph.D. educated is working on a H1B visa and his wife, who is has a master in finances, can't get any legal status that would allow her to work while those who broke the law and came here illegally get working permits and all documents. This mess is purely created by Democrats not because they like immigrants, but because they see more votes down the road from those who will depend on government handouts.

But some people just come to the country without any skills or a desire to work, get food and shelter for free, and later become social allowance bums. Should not it be such that if you want to come to the country, you should go through the same process as everyone else (finding a job, enrolling into a university, applying for visa, etc.). Everyone should have equal rights no matter their background

What exactly do illegal immigrants get other than a temporary home and no job will hire them they can't legally work in the USA. U need to be grateful.
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) makes it illegal for employers to knowingly hire or continue to employ undocumented workers.

This is the ONLY solution. Texas and the other border states and towns have been begging for this invasion to stop and Trump is the only person to make real attempts. But all of a sudden, this is a problem since NY is feeling it. The Feds have no excuses. CLOSE THE BORDERS NOW.

Texas is literally trafficking people, that actually breaks federal law. US shouldn't be interfering in foreign governments, if they stop that the refugee problem would solve itself. The US has spent over 10 trillion dollars destabilizing governments south of the Texas border creating refugees. They have spent the same amount destabilizing governments in SW Asia. Voting for neoconservatives and neoliberals is just going to bring more of the same, and by design someone that isn't doesn't stand a chance of getting elected. People on both sides of the aisle should be able to unite over this, the people we vote for don't represent us.
