I am Jamaican but my Stepfather he is from Guyana...Sadly we lost him 2 yrs ago and he use to make this meal often, he called it Guyanese cookup. I have not had this since he passed...came across your video and will be making it for dinner today.
Thank you darling. La che koso, diwi, pwa rouge, let coco, makes me very hungry. I had it last Saturday, since the two boys are away at college my husband and I prepare more Lucian food than the American. Girl you can prepare me a bad azz meal anytime. Love you much my sister.
Yes, in Jamaica we call this barefoot rice and peas. We usually put a piece of pigtail in the normal rice and peas, it adds alot of flavour. Very nice.
I just love your Consistency! I didn't understand the concept of liking before watching a video, but the past few days, i've been liking as soon as it starts!! 😂
My favorite cook up rice: 1.) Pigeon peas cook-up rice 2.) Okra cook-up rice 3.) Pumpkin cook-up rice 4.) Black eye peas cook-up rice. My grandmother always made cook-up rice on Mondays and so many varieties. I learned to make it from her. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
I was having online class when you're notification came in and of course i started watching your video and listening to the lecturer at the same time 😂#multitasking at its best❤
Looks great. In the Bahamas, when I was young, my mother would cook our Peas n Rice, but loaded with Salt Beef and Fatty Ham. This recipe kinda reminds me of that.
Auntie Pee would smack my hand if I had anything besides a fork once the rice has been added. But that delicious as always.😋😋 In Jamaica this is just rice and peas. Plain and simple. My Daddy always adds a piece of cured pig tail or salted beef to flavor the pot.🇯🇲 #YAWDSTYLE🇯🇲
OMG, you have been doing the damn thing lately!! 🤩 I’ve never had pig tails served this way but it looks amazing! My friends talk so much shit about me liking pig tails so seeing this is also super refreshing! I love your videos 💛
This takes me bk to being 16!! My first boyfriend was Caribbean and he’s mum used to cook something similar I’m so hungry now 😫😫I just found your page and I absolutely love the recipes!!!!! Can’t wait to cook these❤️😍😍
Hi Terri-Ann, love ur channel, makes my mouth water every time I am here. Well In Jamaica if my memory serves me right, we call it Barefoot Rice and Peas.
Oh Terri Ann looks delicious, my husband love this so I make this a lot the same way only difference is I used the salted pig tails. I wash and soak over night to get the salt out. Delicious I am from jamaica it's call Barefoot Rice and Peas 😄😄 I think
I don't eat pork but that looks good. I never had peas with Jasmine rice. I always do it plain. And use Uncle Ben with peas. Thanks for another awesome recipe. PS: Your bread have become a regular in my household.
The biggest surprise for me in this recipe was that the fresh pigtails was used, because I’ve only used the salt cured ones😊 It looks just the original one! However, It was one step I didn’t see with pigtails, which was browning with the sugar and oil. Was it because fresh pigtails was used? 😊 This is a safe and easier version if anybody needs one.😊
In my Parents Home Country of Trinidad and Tobago, this is Called, Pig Tail Palau.. I make the same Recipe in My Pressure Cooker in under 12 Minutes in my Home kitchen in Chicago USA with Chicken and or Shirmp with the Pig Tail and Wild Rice, With both Red & White kidney Beans... Thanks for your version of your One Pot Meal.. Happy Cooking🧑🍳 to you..... 👩🏾⚕️❤️🇺🇸🏳️🌈🔥✡️🇹🇹🦋👍
@ Mercyana: But I think with ppl of Louisiana you all cook the red beans as us Caribbean’s call stewed peas with the white rice. For us West Indians it’s two different styles of dish that we do with different flavor profile☺️. I also like the Louisiana style with that spicy sausage 😋. So good in the fall weather.
@ Mercyana: Yup! Just like us Caribbean ppl☺️. If it don’t include rice it’s not a “real” meal, lol. Ppl from Louisiana and the Gullah ppl that I knew when I lived a short time in Beaufort, SC are the two groups of black ppl outside of the Caribbean and West Africa that cook VERY much like we do. If anybody is knowledgeable of the history then it completely makes sense why it is so. Much love from 🇭🇹
