  • In this video we look at how you can use a simulator to help you to obtain the basics of Ropesight. There are some unique features of Simulators that can help you to train your brain to start seeing the ropes falling and then move into the "add and subtract" phase. We look at the specific features of Virtual Belfry (www.belfryware.com) that can help in getting closer to your goal.

This video is really for people who already have some level of ropesight and want to learn how to practice with the simulator. I'm trying to learn ropesight, and once the ringing on the video started, I just watched as usual and was completely baffled.

I understand your frustration, we have all been there.
Start with trying to see the treble, ideally when actually ringing, don't worry about anything else, use something that has a hunting treble, even plain hunt will do and then watch as you follow the bells and note when you ring after the treble, keep doing this until you "expect" to see the treble, chances are you will start to see the hands that are holding the rope that goes up directly before you, mental notes are key, get used to saying to yourself in plain hunt, "X took me off lead" , and make sure you are counting. Ropesight takes some people a few months to start to see, some years and some never actually see it as they think they should. Use a single method and learn it inside out by places, eventually things will start to click. First thing for me was Plain Bob Doubles, watching the Treble and then acting one when I passed it up to the back ... 1st Place - Make Seconds, 2nd Place 3-4 Up, 4th Place - Long Fifths - 5th Place 3-4 down etc. and I rang this for HOURS with random bobs! - don't give up!

@@stevef4943 Hi Steve, thank you so much for taking the time respond and offer the above information. There appears to be a lot to unpack there, and I will certainly take your advice onboard, start with the treble and see where that takes me!
