Thanks for the video. I think this is the soup I've been looking for, that we used to have at a restaurant in San Diego (closed in early 90s). It was a simpler version with shrimp, thin sliced chili, and no lotus root or squash. I am going to try this in my instant pot.

My friend owns an Asian grocery and that herb you didn't know in english she calls it rice paddy herb in english. And I have seen it called that in a few other stores here in Australia.

Elissa, Thank for posting how to cook "សម្លម្ជូរយួន" . I give 8 and 1/2 that is because your step by step on how to cook it and I could taste your soup. By the way, shrimp is not lobster. In Khmer language, big shrimp like this, we call "បង្គា" "bongkear, sounds in English".In your video clip you call shrimp as "បង្កង" "bongkong" which is supposed to be call "បង្គា" "bongkear" Your "សម្លម្ជូរយួន" looks good. It must taste good as well I hope. Thanks again for posting. Bye.

I don't use fish sauce only chicken broth mix and adobo, sea salt and sugar and onion and garlic.

You don't have to use fish sauce. Salt will work just fine.
