I just saw a painted Bunting in our backyard here in Beaverton, late May 2022. I thought I was looking at an escaped pet bird because he was so colorful and flew pretty close to me. Came to the internet to identify him and your video has helped me, Thank you. That is definitely the bird I saw.
That is so awesome! Wilson is a beautiful bird and it is really cool that he decided to settle down in your backyard for the winter. Painted Buntings are incredibly rare in Oregon and a lot of birders have been going crazy about him! I hope to get better video of him in the future if I can swing by the area when the lighting is nice. My brother and I go to Oregon State University and we work closely with the Natural History Museums on campus. My kids named the bird Wilson!! He has been living in my backyard in between 2 of my trees!
