The author does like to ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
The build is so impressive but I’m amazed at managing the video files over at 50 week build. The editing has to be half the work. Well done Jimmy.
Yes that’s a good point I often edit as I go to keep the wok load easy
много чести для такой лужи))) а лодка идеальна!!! только уключины гремят и вёсла не очень, нужны потяжелее
@@jimmydiresta mind if I ask what editing software you use?
@@b_for_brett he uses fcpx
Nothing like floating on the front porch.. 👍
That’s a beautiful piece of work. As someone who built a cedar strip kayak myself, I know how much blood, sweat and tears go into a project like this. Just about every move is a custom cut and requires a lot of thought and skill to pull off. Well done.
Great. Now I want to build a boat. Total boat baby 🐈
Fishing and swimming in summer and hockey when its cold! Where ever you are living exactly (I think it was New York right? Upstate?), its beautiful!
So beautiful, you should be proud! My favorite part has to be the rowing spoons 😉
LOL'd @6:09 "Its not nearly as safe as it already isn't" Beautiful build man, huge tip of the hat to you for knocking this one out of the park.
Great project Jimmy. That boat will look great in the pond or hanging from your shop ceiling.
Jimmy, I watched this on your site but am here to click the thumbs-up and feed the algorithm with a comment and a second watch to the end. Beautiful build. Scott
Thank you! thank you! 🙏🏼
And just like that, another 30 minutes with Jimmy has passed in a blink! Great cinematography in this one too, Jimmy.
Having seen this boat in person throughout the build makes this video even cooler!!! You did awesome on this!
Beautiful work brother. I love your artistic perspective on making.
It’s been fun listening to you talk about the boat build process over the last year on Making It.
Kudos to you, it is absolutely gorgeous! Your attention to detail and craftsmanship is truly amazing.
🥰🙏🏼
That's a beautiful Rice lake skiff,
I built one years ago and still get stopped every where I go with it. It's a very versatile little boat, perfect topper for the back water lakes. A little 6hp evinrude and it flies!
In appreciation and support of your sponsor, I just purchased a pair of boots and a shirt from Carolina Boot Company. Thanks Jimmy, great video!
It’s been great watching this develop over the last year, and great to see you finally paddling it around🎉
From porch to pond, that's pretty rad to be honest!.
And he does it again! Jimmy D takes trash and turns it into treasure! That is one beautiful boat! Please keep doing what you do!
WOW!!!!!!!!AMAZING CANOE!!!!!!!IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!!!!
I love the different colors of the planks on the inside of the hull, adds a special effect! ❤
Awesome Job! Hey, when you make the oars. put a leather sleeve where the oar locks ride with raised shoulders, (the leather folded up a couple of times or some rope sewed to the sleeve on each end) that will make the oars a tighter fit in the locks and will keep them from sliding in and out while you're rowing.
Genius.
Nice boat design. Cool, smooth, clean lines. Beautiful.
Now, maybe a little fishing from her?
PS:
Amazing work/welding table
@ 25:44
That is going to be an heirloom piece for sure hopefully to be enjoyed by you and your family for decades
Great job, Jimmy! Your boat is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is impressive. Thanks for sharing the process with us. Keep up the amazing work!
Looks fantastic! I’m so glad you left it natural
Truly setting the bar for what could be! So inspiring to see a master craftsman salvage a 100 year-old deck into a functional work of art. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful boat!! So many steps and details to consider and work thru! Great job and thanks for sharing so many tips! Looking forward to you making the "boat spoons"! 🤣
I've been saving this one for a day when I needed a pick-me up, and man was it worth the wait. In lieu of a parrot on his shoulder, I think Captain Jimmy should have had one of his chickens! 😁
Awesome job Jimmy, Love the Cleetus Mcfarland music during the live action :)
Love the character from the variation in all the wood. Beautiful transformation and a great accomplishment.
My wife was mostly just happy to see Total Boat resin actually being used on a boat. 🤣😂🤣
Good looking boat Jimmy! 😎
Amazing. That is an awesome accomplishment.
Absolutely brilliant video Jimmy. How proud are you getting her into the water, That beaming smile said it all. Congratulations on completing a superb project. Thank you for sharing such a delightfully entertaining, yet informative and educational content with us.. Awesome job. All the best Jimmy, with Love And Respect from North London, UK.
What a gorgeous boat, Jimmy!
Congratulations ! She's a beauty.
Amazing build! Hope to see you and the Making Fun crew get back together again soon
Wow! So utterly fabulous, so beautifully strong & so glass like the finish. I can only imagine the emotions that have come with this build with the joyous pride when finally it was done so obvious. Thank you so much for sharing this extraordinary creative journey.
I love that you make an actual work of art by hand. So many parts bandsawn and freehand tablesawn and hand-planed while most UA-camrs whip out the CNC or laser cut dozens of router templates. A true craftsman 🙌🛶
50 weeks doesn't seem that long. It would have taken me 50 YEARS! Super build, Jimmy! Can't wait to see it in person!
Beautiful work on the boat. Many great details....and your fitness regime is showing clearly. Keep it up.
Excellent job, Jimmy D. I'm looking forward to you making the oars. 👍🏻
Great vid and boat Jimmy. Lots of patience that took.
I did watch every second. I know how depressing it is to put in the work, time, money, filming and editing. Then only a small percentage won't skip through and watch the whole vid.
What a work of art! Now you need a bigger pond! LOL!
Some people go to the gym to use a rowing machine,
Jimmy builds a cool boat to doing rowing workouts.
Great video and that is a very nice boat.
Wow Brother !!! what a boat build !!! & you are right , you have to keep returning until you are done !!!
As a maker myself in the film industry,(I.A.T.S.E. Local 873 in Toronto- special effects) over 32 years. I find you and your making to be inspiring and delightful to watch. Big fan. Always look forward to your videos. Cheers🤩
Congrats Jimmy. Hell of an accomplishment. She’s a beaut!
Nice job! Port is a four letter word and so is left so it makes it easy to remember which side is port and starboard when looking toward the bow (front) of the boat. The back is the stern.
Wow,this is the quality that I was expecting, outstanding craftsmanship puts most pieces of furniture to shame thank you for all you do 🤗😎🤗😎
That boat deserves a bigger pond :)
another beautiful thing, you crafty bastard ;-D
That’s as cool as it gets. Y’all did a terrific job of building and documenting the process!
I had a wooden rowboat growing up. About as big as yours. That's how I acquired my upper body strength 😁 (sailing helped, too). But this is stunning! I thought the canoe was an amazing feat, but wow, the rowboat! I agree, the sun and elements just beat up the finish on everything (I'm the only person I know that keeps their boat covered in the summer months in my community...my 39 year old Sunfish looks brand new). I love that you reused your old deck wood!! The boat has such character with the older wood grain showing! I hope you get years of enjoyment out of it!!😊
What a nice boat , great way to use those old porch boards
Amazing as always. I cannot wait to see the Rowing spoons that go with it. so much work went into this, and it looks great. I didn't see any eagles on that majestic lake but I'm sure they are there somewhere. Love and respect.
So beautiful. It's been a joy watching this come together.
Man, is there anything you can’t do?!! Beautiful work!
Great video! I recommend everyone to watch and enjoy the spectacle!!! Good luck, bro!!!
Nice work.
Regarding your comments about making mistakes, remember the old saying "He who never made a mistake never made anything."
So many of your videos feel like "one day builds" where you just come up with an idea and execute. There is something so neat about watching you document and COMPLETE a nearly year-long project. This is EXTREMELY inspiring! So excited for you and your accomplishment! Thank you for the video!
In his canoe build video he is very adamant in the beginning that these boat projects were difficult and would test your patience and perseverance.
Nice looking boat and use of the old porch!
The patreon voiceover treatment nice! 🎉 so much to learn when narrated
Bravo ! You get a standing ovation from your fans !
So grateful I got to put hands on this artful albatross in its beginning phases. It's a commendable year-long battle making the wood submit to your vision.
Also so gratifying to watch I learned a lot. 🛶 💛
Wow that's awesome Jimmy. Beautiful job. Hopefully you enjoy it for many years to come my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On build On. Keep Forge lit. Keep Making. God Bless.
Beautiful! The front station oar locks are a must with a canoe, otherwise rowing upwind on a windy day is a whole-lot more difficult.
I don't know what's more impressive your shop or the boat much love from New Zealand
Incredibly beautiful, I’m glad I finally got to watch this. Thank you so much for sharing and all the great tips along the way!
What a beautiful boat. I could watch you shape would all day long you are a master at it. I bet she handles very tender, meaning easy to maneuver.
GM Jimmy. Your skill is beyond compare
All around badass job!! Amazing work!!!
Thank you!!!
A porch with different views 😉 Well accomplished Sir, thanks for sharing!
Excellent. Adding a brass loop at the front and rear too, can help with towing.
COngrats for finishing this build!
Thats a pretty boat. For the oars we wrapped them in 1/4” rope where they hit the oar locks. Here in oregon drift boats are used in the rivers and the oar mfg wrapped then. Fyi
Это непросто работа, а это душа мастера.Вы просто волшебник этого шедевра.
Just perfect Jimmy, first class
wow man thats a very nice build boat
"Nothing quite like messing about in boats"! Seeing your boat sure adds to the urge to build another boat. Thank you Jimmy for posting this!
"it's better to just dab it".... *proceeds to pour and brush LOL, great job guys. beautiful work once again
What a beautiful project.
Stunning work, Jimmy! That's a real work of art! 😃
Really well done!!+
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, you need a bigger lake! With some fish, for fishing!!!
Excellent! Enjoy the boat
Mr Diresta...your an inspiration to us all!
Great work, and nice job using your rowing spoons😊
I spent 8 months building a cedar strip kayak, so I can really appreciate your expertise. My previous work working experience always required making boards straight and level and square. Almost all of that thinking goes out the window on a project like this. Your boat looks great, and you look great rowing it 😊
Thank you Jimmy.
Amazing. Bet the next one will be half the time and the third.. good job
A beautiful piece of work!
excellent work! it almost seems too pretty to put in the water,
Thanks for creating and sharing.
Trash picking, working in a basement in NY, everything had to go in through that screwed up trap door thinger in the sidewalk. Cut up an old handsaw for a machete and pissed some people off. Everything that came from that humble shop was gold. Literal trash to treasure. You came a long way and you're still true to yourself. Recycling, repurposing, and doing it gracefully as always.
That is REAL art!!! love it.
This was really fun to watch! Great accomplishment and a fantastic turnout! Nice job!
This boat is a beautiful piece of art.
A living work of art. Amazing, Jimmy
Wow absolutely stunning👍
It’s beautiful Jimmy, I watched both parts this morning and it’s amazing how much work you put into it. Well done
Incredible work & amazing craftsmanship on that boat build Jimmy! As a long time woodworker, I know what it takes to accomplish something like that. The fact that you used that old wood from the porch just makes it extra special! 👍👍
That's not a boat. That's a work of art. Amazing job, as always, Jimmy!
Beautiful boat Jimmy! It’s really cool that you were able to reuse your old porch decking to make it!
And nice rowing spoons ;)
