  • @sf5553

Not sure if you're new to wading, but you should ABSOLUTELY wear a life jacket under them. When you fall they can instantly get super heavy in weight when you're trying to exit the water and drown you. A life jacket will keep you afloat even if they fill up... waders should never be used without a life jacket unless you 100% know all the water around you is like 3 or less feet deep and the ground is flat... if you don't like the way they look you can wear self inflating hidden ones under your clothing...
Also a wading belt can help too, but is not as important as a life jacket...
Sidenote, it's extremely easy to have a heart attack from way below freezing water contact like that... that panic you felt when the water touched your skin (if the temp was low enough) was probably your heart palpitating... Your body and CNS are having a similar reaction to being burned on fire... wading is such a great thing, but heading out alone, not securely tied to doc, and without a life vest can EASILY kill you with just a tiny random mistake made... especially in a body of water that size, moving, freezing cold, with unknown ground gradient...
Love your videos and glad you're ok, but that was R I S K Y. I'm not hating on you for going and rescuing the magnet, I don't blame you, but You were almost chest deep in waders you'd never used with no safety protocol... Take care and a bit more thought with that kind of stuff. Water below 35 degrees with no protection you've got 3 to 4 minutes max before you shut down. Way less if you have any unexpected health complications occur. You and your videos are fun and important. Thanks for all the great footage.

Now you know why many smart people who use waders, put a belt on around their waist, and cinch it up. It keeps the water out of the lower end and also helps to keep you afloat. It's easier to find a floating body too.

Can you tie another length of rope to the stuck rope and use that big tree I see in the background? Tie several loop knots throughout the rope and use a come-a-long winch. I would suggest a 4x4 with a winch but I don't think you're allowed to bring a vehicle close to where you're at.

Glad ya got your buddies magnet back Tyler. Can you use those waders to try retrieving some of the other magnets you lost? A full dry divesuit may be a better option although much more Expensive?
That rope possibly may be to a magnet for marking a vehicle's location? The search and recovery dive teams have been going around the USA using sonar to locate underwater vehicles for possible missing persons. They mark them with Magnets so they can come back later with a tow truck company to remove them. I follow "Adventures with a Purpose's" channel and they have located many missing persons and solved many cold cases. Or it could be just a rope tied to some junk?
Glad you got out safe now go get warmed up and have some hot cocoa or anything to warm up! You gave me the chills watching that🥶🧊🥶🧊🥶! Good finds BTW!

I taught my son how to exit waders, blindfolded, in under 5 secs, with serious amts of external stress. He hates me, and couldn't figure out WHY 😡 "UGH MOUUUM, THIS IS STUPID"..... Until.
His first time in the river, he went down, in 8'+, after a sudden drop off. His friend, who was present for some of his "exit training", was with him. He said "I thought he was dead, but nope, he popped up, less his waders, so I said, ya gonna tell yer mom how 'stupid' she is now?!" ❤️

I’m glad you make videos that we can watch. I’d spend a hundred bucks on a magnet and get it stuck the first time out. Btw, you should wear a wader belt, it will cinch where ever you tighten it, it prevents water from filling your waders up in the event you go under.

no joke bruh i started to magnet fish at my local parks river that has a rock bridge that do it from i had enough screws, nails and bolts to make my dog a outside house not to mention me using my saw blade and hammer i found to build them with... its about 8 ft all around with a patio so it can sun bathe. so my dog can hang outside when i do my gardening work in the warm months or just chill out there in general...
btw just got back today and caught 2 big largemouth bass ice fishing today so im having some homemade fishsticks tonigt!! the 1 smaller one i cooked up and made dog food for my pooch with some canned veggies i had from last years crop and theres enough to last him a week :D

Invest in a hand rachet so anything you can't pull in, the rachet will. Just attach your magnet rope to hook and rachet to something else grounded.

The force of the come along ratchet against the magnets pull (or tangle) will simply break the rope... but this was absolutely dangerous going into something that cold not being tied off....

You should mark where you were and come back when the weather is warmer. Belt tightly the top of your waders that keeps the water from entering your waders. It would be interesting to see what was on rope. You can look at your video and by the cracks visualize exactly where your target is,. Please never put yourself in jeopardy by going alone like this, having a buddy also makes the experience better.

Well now that other rope will be a "mystery rope" and maybe you could go back but with some scuba gear or something and find out what it is and why it's not movable

Wonder if you can get some of the diving magnet fishing UA-camrs to come up for magnet rescues? Maybe mark the locations where you lost them? Content driven, right?

2 things my guy. One, many men have drowned doing the exact same thing. Never wear weighters in water you do not know the depth. Water fills up inside and you can't swim. Second, never go in the water by yourself! Be safe dude
