    Tyler be careful pointing that gun and acting like you're shooting it, you know if there were a Karen walking by on the other side she would definitely probably call and say that your pointing a gun at her, no matter the shape of the gun! That electric/electronic thing you found just after asking Alex to move down looks like the mouth piece off an antique wall mounted telephone to me. The best way to tell the difference between a toy and a real gun is their weight. Last but not least , way back when skates clamped to your shoes (hard sole shoes not tennis shoes) and a skate key is what you needed to fit the skate to your shoe, the ring looking end was actually a wrench for adjusting the length and the square socket end was to adjust the width clamp.

      Another quick way to tell a gun is a toy is if it's been cast in two pieces, i.e., if the barrel is not one solid piece but two halves put together. That said, if the barrel IS solid, that's no guarantee that it's real, either. I remember having a toy six-gun that was so realistic it came with "bullets" (on which you glued dot caps) and a rotating cylinder. Would be deadly for a kid to be carrying a toy like that around, today. My toy dated from around 1963.
      Of course, cast in two pieces or not, a mad genius (like my brother in his teen years) could take a souvenir replica colonial pistol from Jamestown, Va., and modify it to actually shoot a pellet hard enough to break stuff.

    I've used those old window weights before for a boat mooring system when used in conjunction with pulleys on wooden pilings. The weights hold a mooring bow line strung between two wooden pilings with attached pulleys at a height above a boat slip. The boat is backed into the slip and the mooring line is pulled down and attached to the boats front cleat. This system allows the boat to rise and fall with the tide while the weights keep the mooring line taught and steady riding on the pulleys. Basically the weights did the same thing in the boat slip as it did in the window casement.

      Why do people keep saying this? Have you ever seen one of those phones? The mouthpiece looked like a small horn or almost funnel, not a huge wheel. And the dialing wheel had more holes and was still smaller- and would have been thinner and lighter because there would have been zero reason to use that much metal and make it that huge and thick. It would have made it impractical to use and more expensive to make.

      These box phones are very old. They didn't have dials. You picked up the receiver, turned a crank and an operator asked you for the number. They stopped making them in the 1890s! That's when the candlestick table top design was in use.

    I think that piece that both you and Alex caught is the side of an old auditorium seat or movie theater seat. The heavier, thicker piece is what is bolted to the floor. And the seat and back are made of wood. Like a seat you find in a school auditorium. That pistol was probably a .22 . The barrel looked too small to be a .38.

      @@williammoshi2745
      Hello William.
      I am happy to explain.
      My reasoning for saying not one to call the police about comes from my understanding and current knowledge base.
      1. The gun style shown on the video looks to predate the implementation of serial numbers, so it could not have been reported stolen and could not be reunited with its owner.
      2. The poor condition of the gun. it was in such poor condition and rusted that I am sure it could not even be fired. So by chance it was used in committing a crime, there would be no way of identifying it ballistically.
      3. That gun is not a danger to anyone in its condition
      4. The police will most likely confiscate it and put it in one of someones cool gun collection even considering its condition or destroyed it.
      That is my reasoning with what I am aware of. I am always open to new information even if it is contrary to what I know at this point.

    • @williammoshi2745
      @williammoshi2745 Рік тому +3

      @@lisav6072 hmm
      Well my reasoning is that sometimes there’s cold cases, and murder weapons can cause closure at times. Also it just feels eerie to hold and own a weapon that could have taken someone’s life…

    • @lisav6072
      @lisav6072 Рік тому +1

      @@williammoshi2745
      Respectfully, I do understand where you are coming from with what you say and I agree with you. I could never hold on to a gun that may have taken someone life. It goes against the grain of my being and I imagine that it would be eerie. If I ever find a gun anywhere I would not even touch it and report it to the police immediately! I am now nearly 60 and have been handling guns since I was 12 years old (target practice only). My father was properly trained in gun safety (was a stickler on gun safety) and taught myself and many boy scouts learning gun safety, marksmanship to attain their member badge. I was always there at every target practice watching, learning and shooting. That particular pistol, depicted in the video, was early 1900s and could not even be fired or ballistically identified because it was not in proper shape to be fired. If anything was even slightly questionable to me, I would definitely turn it in and advise others to do so if I was asked!
      Most Kind Regards,
      Lisa

    3:00 Hi Fisher, of these keys that were used to open the tin cans with sardines in oil, I also find many in our lake with the magnet, and they told me that they were widely used by soldiers who made the Second World War. a greeting from Italy and like a friend. 😉

    Your first catch comes from an old wood stove, I think. It looks like it could have been the face plate. There would have been glass in four rectangular spots on the sliding part.
    9:47 That piece you found is from a mop, I believe. It would be the part that holds the cloth. You string the head of the mop through, and use an inset piece to tighten a bar to hold it in place.

    When I was a little girl we wore hard soled leather shoes, like oxfords. The skates had grips to securely hold onto the hard sole and the length, and also width of the toe, were adjustable. As you described, the key locked in place the desired adjustment. That thing Alex found like yours but with a handle reminds me of what real old-time photographers held up to create a flash for portraits. I think they had something flammable along the top and maybe that clip held it in place.?

    That round metal piece looks like it may be from the middle of the wheel of a ship. There would have been wood around it and wooden spokes but the middle is often metal. Even from a smaller boat that had a small wheel installed instead of a regular steering wheel or possibly from a decorative one someone had hanging somewhere that ended up in the water.

    The first thing you pulled out was a door to an old wood stove. It might be cast iron.
    Had to crack up laughing listening to 2 fishers fighting over a spot. Don't matter if it's for scrap or fish, fishermen don't like their spots intruded on.
    Tyler, at the risk of being "that person", I cringe every time I see you playing with guns like that. I get that it's all rusted, maybe even a toy, but still have proper respect. As someone who grew up around guns, both for hunting & defence, it breaks my heart to see so many of the younger generation treating guns as toys and the lack of respect. Please take some firearm safety classes.

      Too late you are that person never underestimate Ty, there is no grass growing neath this guy, he is way ahead of you, by the way the door holes for the wood stove contained mica, it gave them a beautiful glass like appearance withstanding temperatures in upwards of 1800° F,

    That round thing that looks like a door knob with wires, to me looks like the mouth piece of antique phone, missing wooden box, the dial with numbers and handle, next thing I see is you catching the dial, now you just need the handle as the wood box, probably rotted. The gun is old and a cool find, police will not want this. The fisher had a fantastic day, last time was Alex and hub caps
