      @ I'm confused... You wanna see all the designs from all of the platforms I was on that didn't sell? I'm not sure how I can show that. Also I don't quite understand the question.
      The designs that "don't work" are the ones that are not marketed, that has mostly been the case for me in the past 7 years.

    I see A LOT of people not UNDERSTANDING what it takes to be a business owner. I work a good job, and I have 2 businesses. Being a business owner means you’re built differently. I stopped listening to a lot of videos or influencers giving out advice because I’m not working hard to learn and grow my business, to not enjoy life while I’m breathing. UA-cam is a business. The channels are looking for their audience. Life is about trying, failing, and learning.

    I loved this video…it really resonated with me. For the second time, I had been thinking hard on something, and you came out with a video along similar lines at the same time. I still really love the idea of designing patterns. But for me, one of my biggest reasons for not starting POD is that I don’t like the frivolous take down situation on POD platforms when it comes to wording used in tags, titles, and listings. The way platforms handle this issue seems broken. My final straw was reading about instagram and banned hash tags and shadow banning and I just got overwhelmed. This topic really stresses me out. That a platform can just shut you down, and you may not have actually done something wrong. You are so right about POD being only one part of the pie, not just for this reason, but also the others you mentioned. I have also come to the hard realization that the entirety of being a POD business owner may be too much for me, at least right now. So I am looking into other routes that may resonate with me better. There will ups and downs with everything, but the key is, can I handle the downs? I love the new direction your channel is going because it is real, and you are teaching that there is more than one way to do things. To stay true to yourself. And that it is okay to do so. You uplift and inspire. You work really hard. But first and foremost: You deserve to follow the path that uplifts and inspires YOU, and to take time to rest and recharge yourself. I appreciate everything that you do, but I also want for you to find your best balanced self! Hugs to you!!! And thank you!

    So appreciate your honesty and integrity, Mey. I am that tarot youtuber you speak of. I've made a couple of oracle decks, now in process of making a tarot deck and some cool t-shirts - using POD. But yes, I am so selective in what I use the POD for because I have to feel the energetic vibe/creative investment of the energy because it is a representation of me, my energy--if that makes sense. I would not create something that I personally would not want to buy or that doesn't have my pure essence of creative energy infused into the product. AI is simply a tool but I start first with a vision and an aesthetic and actually creating something that would (I sincerely hope) give people value who purchase it. Can't wait to see your Human Design videos--are you a projector? :)))

    When I was first trying to figure out POD it was because I wanted to make gifts for my family from my paintings. I also wanted to learn to make repeat patterns. I found you because I was trying to get my uploads to Society6 to work out correctly. That video you did on original canvas sizes for uploading to S6 saved the day for me!
    The couple you mentioned…. I bet I saw the same videos (but might not be the same). They were pushing Printify, Creative Fabrica, and an SEO program… something about Samurai (?). I did their 5day free course that was promoting their higher priced course (which I did NOT do) and the whole ShinyNewThing diversion was a huge time suck for me. But I mostly had a hard time, and eventually abandoned this couple’s videos, because these content creators basically took other people’s creations and slightly re-made them. That’s just not me. I want my stuff to be Me-created.
    Love the journey you are on. Feel free to talk about how your faith guides you. It’s part of who you are, and even the naysayers probably need to hear that message, even if they don’t want to.

    Alignment and Success....YES!! Mey, at the start of the video I wanted to cry - you looked so sad, so lost, so tired, so defeated. But, as the video progressed you identified that you felt angry, but didn't know exactly why. Then, you began to laugh, smile and become energized. I could feel your emotions so strongly. You have obviously spent some time reflecting on how print on demand and you tube has affected you. I love that you stand in your truth. You continue to teach and guide so many through the struggles of life just by being your authentic self. I am excited to follow your journey as you delve into big picture stuff. I think you have enough content to turn into several books and I hope that you do take time to focus on writing. Sending big hugs from cold and snowy Canada. Someday I will get to Bulgaria and live the good life!!

    When I began exploring POD several years ago, I did think that it would be my main focus. I watched a lot of videos telling you how to do it and selling the dream of big money. A lot You Tubers would tell you that if you think you can just sell the art you love, instead of creating stuff for the trending niches, you would not be successful. That never sat right with me. If I am going to invest my time and energy (and heart and soul) into a project, I wanted it to mean something. So, as an artist first, I have created two ventures that express what I love and who I am. I've brainstormed a plan moving forward and POD is just one aspect of that. I've started to blog. But I also want to branch out into writing children's stories and illustrating them. I want to create hand made items with my designs that I can sell locally at markets. And I'm also hoping to take on commissions as a graphic designer. So, your new focus for this channel is perfect for me. It's all about the big picture.

    Oh my gosh!! You just made me realize that I've taken 'my shiny new thing syndrome' into my YT channel, as I did at the beginning with POD.
    Maybe it's part of the journey of starting something new. Hmmm, I no longer have 'shiny new thing' with POD, so I'm very hopeful that I will get there with YT soon.
    My FW store has settled me into what I like to do, not making any sales yet, but that's just because of my poor marketing, but I have no burnout which is sweet!
    And yes absolutely POD is a slice of the pie, as are most other parts of building a brand... it's the bringing of the different parts together, and that can take time.

    I sell clothes on eBay as ‘Case Academy’ & I 100% agree with you. People on UA-cam who are telling others to sell clothes on UA-cam like I do (pre-owned, vintage & new) they’re not being intellectually honest. These UA-camr’s goal is to make the viewers a consumer of their content & gain subscribers not for them to be successful at e-commerces. 99% of gurus & people telling others how to sell online are not telling the full truth. Only the surface level basic stuff & it actually get people stuck & financially hurt Etc.

    Everyone needs to rant now and again lol! I found you through Printful and have stuck around because I love your POD content. If you move away from it then that is absolutely your choice and your right to do so. I probably will spend less time here though. Especially if it's about Human Design, because I am a passionate conscientious objector to all such things. One of these days I will make my own rant video about why I believe that submitting to 'personality testing' of any kind is one of the worst things we can do to ourselves and why I think that the creators of personality and psychometric tests are charlatans posing as scientists. But each to their own. All the best and thanks for all the learning 😀

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  4 дні тому +2

      You also have labels with Zodiac signs, with the country you're born in.
      I think that all of the HD labels are beautiful- the labels are a part of sharing how special you are, especially when all things are factored in.
      Generators are amazing- constant energy to do the things they love, devotion to their own craft, and warm and enveloping aura.
      Labels are everywhere, in our sexual orientation, in our country of origins, in our belief system, in our medical record... Our name is a label :)
      Not saying that everyone should love this system, but personally I've seen how people who learned about their "label" understood themselves better, and here in town I've seen how embracing this in business has helped people have a better online business, that's why I am bringing this in to the channel.
      And again, not trying to convince you, but labels are everywhere, and we reject some of them and embrace others. it's a choice- and I respect yours

      @SpeedbirdHeavy 4 дні тому +1

      @@MeyTribe true, we are basically tribal creatures and of course that used to be important for our survival in the cave days. But as we grow more sophisticated as a species, I can't help but feel that some labels are detrimental to our ability to expand beyond the subliminal boundaries that they create. We don't need to conform or stay within our tribes or given identities any more. We can step out. Labels can hold us back and limit us to becoming that thing. John Lennon outlined this beautifully in 'Imagine'. 😊

    You are right, and adding to what you said, the problem nowadays is that POD is a very competitive market. There are a lot of competitors and a lot of talent out there.
    So yes, it makes people angry, and some others get frustrated.
    Putting aside those scammers trying to sell dreams, for me, the most important thing about POD, the same as with any other product, is the ideas. Good ideas that hit trends and passions of possible buyers (prospects) is key to the business. A good practice is taking a glance at the actual market every so often by using software for trends and reports, or by doing it manually by using different resources, so you can have an idea of what design to try next.
    Having a passion and working on it is good, but is it good for the business? Not always. Since we are all different, people will be surprised at how much they love a specific theme just to find out that not many people care about it. Think of it like music. You may hate rap for example (I do), but look at how much money many rappers are making. So if you hate all the trends of the moment found in your research, try working on the ones you hate less :)
    Remember that shirt that only had the word "Nope" on it and sold millions? That's a good example, lol.
    Otherwise, we may create wonders that belong to our personal liking and passions but it will be a lottery if it sells or not.
    I am not saying that this is your case. I am simply glad that you are not quitting and wanted to share my point of view. By keep trying, you may soon start pushing the right buttons and hopefully, you will. My best wishes

    I do care about the quality of the product. That's why I couldn't get excited about KDP. I ordered planners and logbooks I made for myself, and so many had a printing mistake (ink running low, stripes, missing areas). And I've read many similar reviews on other KDP books. And buyers there don't know that's not YOU, who messes it up. I don't understand how people can make thousands of these, without ever ordering anything. Multiple times they rejected my pdf, saying there's an error when turned out there wasn't, but they don't bother checking their printing... Maybe it's a regional thing, I don't know (Europe). Sorry for the rant. 😅 I took it as a sign, that KDP is not my path. Well, at least not the way those people do it. 😊
    I loved the video, you gave me a lot to think about. I agree with you on the overconsuming. That's partially what makes me conflicted about product creation. I feel like what I buy (or sell) should be meaningful so it's not just another stuff on the shelf. And as an aspiring artist who makes their own art, I definitely don't want to create thousands of products just to feed an algorithm. That's how you start to hate what you do, right?

    I don't know I don't agree with the statement saying aI ruined pod. Pod would have still been the way it is now without ai it only made it easier for abusers to abuse it more. Photoshop was already making it crap . I really don't like when people assume that people can't do really awesome things with ai the reason why there is. Raise in ai crap because the people using it at the end all and don't know how to truly use it. Because if you actually care about art you don't just put out crap no matter what you use. I'm a mix medium artist I don't care what tool I use if I love art I don't put out something that is deformed. And again I'm in no way bashing mey it's just hearing her thoughts I know people are going to be bashing ai and I don't think that's fair. The art community has become nasty and mean because of it. The people who are abusing ai art just want to make money but there are some of us who take time to learn this about prompt structuring and everything. I just wish people wouldn't lump everyone in one box that's all. Sorry I hope this doesn't get deleted but if it does I understand. Not all of us are just trying to make a quick buck and I try hard not to use copy characters that are copyright while other people who don't use AI and do starbucks cups or Disney characters to sell their stuff. I know that you can create amazing things with AI, and also use it in a process, and that’s not what I was talking about. I was talking about other people who enjoyed the art making process but didn’t learn how to market right - being told by UA-camrs that AI is the way, and now these people are in the same position in terms of their “business “ but lost the actual thing they liked to do. It’s one perspective out of many. I’m personally not against using AI , I think it’s a great tool for creativity when used right, but one aspect of it - came to me through others due to me being a UA-camr and made the overall feeling about print on demand kinda lousy…
      I also don’t like it when people assume you can’t create really awesome things with AI (or that they can’t work hard on that) - which is why I found it weird that you wrote it as if I said something like that…

Also my niche revolves around a hobby I'm apart of so it's evergreen designs. But honestly I kind of cringe at POD sellers that chase trends because those items always end up in a thrift store. Like how often are you going to wear a seasonal, or political shirt. It is very wasteful and I feel like the majority of POD comprises of throwaway AI trends, flooding the market with 1000s of designs. Also it's $1500 to send my child to daycare per month. X_X;

    I don’t like clutter but with that being said I still decorate my space. As I declutter I don’t want my space looking like a hospital. All the UA-cam videos have to have a click bait title however I don’t believe in passive income. Anything you do takes work so that’s not passive income. There is no easy way to make easy money that’s why a lot of stores on Etsy don’t last. There is no unsaturated niche and when you look at a store with lots of sales you don’t know how they got their sales. Are they running ads, are they driving their own traffic, do they have 1,000 listings so they are easier to find? If you want sales you need to work your butt off. Personally I only sell digital now. People on Etsy specifically think that they just need good seo but that’s not how it works anymore. Websites don’t work for people because they don’t know how to drive traffic to their site.

    Exactly how I make my things. They are either recycled materials or they are the utmost highest quality T-shirt Supima cotton from a company that are super transparent about sustainability, they are embroidered by me, from a design created by me and digitized for embroidery also made by me. The quality of my shirts are forever. It is something you buy and you keep. I don't want to make things that will end up in landfill. I take days digitizing my designs so it is perfect. A T-shirt that has full back embroidery that won't distort or come apart with uses and washes. Print on demand is a plague

    Sorry this is so long!! I have to say it is not true people don’t want reviews of the POD products. I personally need those type’s of reviews because I don’t have a lot of money to spend on buying samples constantly. But the products that I’m selling in my shop, are very specific and I’ve really had to search different POD companies finding them. I’ve even requested some of these products from Printify and Printful for YEARS! They still only have a few and they are not exactly what I was looking for but closer. I’ve even expressed to them that they’re losing money because they don’t offer them. I’ve been looking for more dressy style. Not everyone in the world wants to wear sweatpants and sweatshirts. they make you look frumpy. I also want different types of fabrics, such as linen, 100% cotton, rayon, chiffon, corduroy, denim, silk, leather, vegan leather, velvet, and suede, etc.I just found a POD company in the UK that uses most of these fabrics and I am so excited!!! They are definitely more expensive, but this company also is very against fast fashion. They don’t have a huge amount of products to sell, but they have one that I was looking for 4 Years! And they are flared bottom pants and I know that Printful has some now after I’ve requested them, but they are not actually the same type of pants that I’m looking for and the way they’ve cut their pattern and it’s sewn together is weird and would mess up my designs. And the way they’re cut I wouldn’t be able to guarantee that they would match up the lines for my designs. It’s very frustrating because if it doesn’t look right, people will start returning them so I had to find another company. So far the only places I can get stuff is in China and I’m not very happy about that because I don’t like their fabrics and they’re made too cheap for my standard as well some products look too cheap. I’m trying to offer higher end products in my shop. And higher end clothing in general is made with the right material and will last for years hence the price being higher. And I agree with you that I am not interested in oversaturating. I’m terrible at marketing and I have to get better at it .I don’t want people just to buy just to be buying. I want them to buy it because they love it and they really want it and they’re going to use or wear it over and over again! And it’s not something that they can buy in a regular store. Some pieces I’ve lately made they could. I’m just giving them the option so they don’t have to go somewhere else also to get it. Because some of my clothing is meant to be layered. As for AI I know a lot of people/ Buyers Do Not like AI at all! They want handmade products if they are buying from artists. AI does have a look to it and not everyone likes it. AI is a tool and has its place. But it’s not going to replace artists. It gets its info from artists! That it scans on the internet. Regardless, there is no soul behind it and it looks that way. I also agree with you about the UA-camrs. But there are some in one that I actually listen to who’s not that way and that would be Starla Moore and a few others. and she does stress that running your business is a marathon.

    Hello, I just watched you on a Printful video. Thank you for sharing great content. I do have a couple of questions and wasn’t sure how to contact you. Hopefully they can be answered here.
    1. Have you ever created a tshirt/sweatshirt/hoodie design in Canva and then uploaded it to Printful?
    2. If so can you please share the size that you used in Canva.
    My research findings is 4500 x 5400. And then I convert to 300 dpi. Do know if this is correct?
    Thank you in advance. ☺️

      @RAMIRELLI-Art 2 дні тому

      Isn't Canva where you design and get templates? As far as pixel sizes and dpi you are correct. 4500 x 5400 are kinda standard. Also, check which platform you are going to use. Printify has its own specs, Etsy does have its own too, even TeePublic has its own specs.

      I totally agree... Minimalism had an "issue" of it not making money, cause how many videos can you make about decluttering? and then people started this trend of minimalism equals beige or grey to get people to consume....

      @ , hey, I was just thinking that if you want one of your own art in an embroidery file, I can make it for you free of charge. I never watched Your videos before but this one is gold. You deserve a treat! You are going thru some deep thinking and it can feel very lonely. I know I do, but I am old and you are very young and I don’t want you to feel that way. I don’t ever digitize for a third party but o want you to have something no one has made in embroidery that is super well made.
      Don’t worry about my profile picture. O am a pretty boring mom and skeletons just remind me that life is short.

      @@Nclk619 thanks love, though I don’t know what I’d do with a file like that…. I don’t know embroidery. And I’m not sure what you meant with the deep thinking and loneliness …. I feel like making this video was the lest amount of thinking I had to do in a very long time, as it’s simply how I view business and always have.
      But again, thanks for the offer… I’d decline just cause I wouldn’t know what to do with an embroidery file ❤️

    Lol😂 I just had a conversation in comments on a KDP channel about this. The same problem in both niches

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  3 дні тому

      Yeah, it is a problem for both... Though most would place KDP under the print on demand space- as it's kinda like "print on demand books".
      I remember a couple of years ago when I saw the KDP UA-camrs tell people to create the ugliest notebook cover, or even heart rate trackers and stuff like that - and I'm like- I thought it was was books?
      I experimented with KDP, did a "book" of surface patterns that I really wanted for scrapbooking paper, and did another one few days ago - mostly cause for me it was cheaper than having them printed out in good color quality where I live on individual papers LOL
      But the ones talking about "being an author" and basically spewing out AI written "books" is horrible. sorry, mini rant here LOL
      I do have friends who are writers and for them KDP is amazing, but they def get depressed watching these spam videos .

    • @HelloWorld-qk1kf
      @HelloWorld-qk1kf 3 дні тому

      @@MeyTribe Its a mixed bag on the KDP side of the house. As an avid reader and notebook user, I can usually spot an AI book easily, no matter the genre. Most people can, too, because many AI books have no sales. But then, while doing niche research, I came across an AI book, especially in the children's niche, and the books have some sales... but you see in the reviews things like "... this book makes no sense, but my kid liked the pictures even though the character changed all the time". At the end of the day... as much as we care... some readers/buyers don't care at all. I suspect that of the folks who claim "this/that is too saturated" may have tried AI, not gotten sales, and gave up. In reality, they have no sales because they put no effort in. They put garbage effort in and got garbage results out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
      I thought some of the health trackers were suspect, too. However, I talked to someone in the medical field here in the US and was told that they can be beneficial for folks who work in home health or home-based elder-care facilities. Both are unique to the US but would not make sense anywhere else.

    I get frustrated because i want to design things that i want. All these you tubers just tell you that you have to design for whats trending and IDK what's trending and i hate that because some of the tee-shirt designs that are "trending" are SO STUPID and i never or know anyone that would buy some of these simple dumb designs that a five year old could create. I dont care what other people want. If someone likes my work i know they will sell, if they don't i know that its not "trendy" but who cares right!?

    It’s taken me a long time to work this out but there seems to be two approaches to Print On Demand. One is the “make lots of stuff quickly to hit keywords” way and the other is being an actual artist / designer who works in collections and carefully chooses products fulfilled by print on demand, building an “Artist brand”. If I see a video with a dollar amount on it that’s a red flag 🚩 - I immediately click on “don’t recommend this channel”. The whole channel will 100% be a scam.

    Print on demand is only a tool. The same tool as your printer - and there are artists, that only sell art prints made with their domestic printer. The point is - art. That's why it was not a good idea to make videos - "how to use Kittle or AI" to make a lot of soulless trash and trying to sell this. The industry of gifts hasn't gone anywhere - it's billions. It has nothing to do with popular keawords or tags. If people are more selective - it gives hope to real artists.

      You're so right ! You're on to me! I spend sometimes 12 hours making a video that gets me 12-25$ in ad revenue. I spend 2 hours a day helping viewers for free cause I am so obsessed with money..
      I get that you're frustrated from online, and I get it. A lot of UA-camrs in my niche make 10-15K a month easy- sponsorships, courses.
      I am not nearing that,. I would have- had I taken sponsorships, or 1:1 training, or made courses. Or even if i drop UA-cam and go back to building websites for clients which made me roughly 1-2K$ for 8-10 hours of work.
      I make these videos cause I genuinely love sharing my thoughts, and love the community that was formed from it. If you don't wanna watch them- don't. It's a free world, and you have the right to consume whatever content you want. But being angry at someone and blaming them for something you don't like- doesn't make that something true.
      I wish you a lovely day :)
