  • We begin our journey at Innaminka, walking you around the campground and describing the facilities. We then begin the drive to Birdsville after checking the website to make sure it was open and dropping our tyre pressures. The track is very rough from recent floods, and in places impassable, so we follow a track along the road through the Strzelecki Desert. We stop at Caldelga Downs to explore, then continue on. We lose power to our electric brakes when the cable works loose from the rough roads, Greg jury rigs it and gets it working again. We drive into Birdsville, have a look around and find a quiet campsite on the banks of the Diamantina River for the night. Next video: Birdsville Track to Maree, stopping over at Coolabah campground.

Yep, a little bit of rain and it’s a completely different experience! Fun, but only if you’re set up right with all the gear and very experienced. Easy to see why so many get into trouble out there

@@onroadslesstravelled getting stuck should be last thing to happen, I carry a long handled shovel and I stop and check track conditions if they look sus. If I can I'll trench a big puddle if possible, 🤷‍♂️ just basic stuff like that, that's how i do it anyway 👍

My brother in law Lyall Oldfield has lived all his life in Marree, owns the general store and caravan Park, also managed the Great Northern Hotel in the 80s. Had many great times etc in marree

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a lovely little town, filled with history. The general store is one of the best we’ve seen in the outback, a boon for all travellers.

Great stuff , very good content and video of places of interest.. really like what you’ve done.
But could I just ask if you could speak up or invest in a microphone cos you’re very difficult to hear as you speak way too softly.
Take care and travel safe 👍🏼

Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate your input. I’m still building confidence and working on understanding what works and what doesn’t. And lol, my partner told me the same thing! 😊

Great, thanks. I’ve had a bit of a look and it seems there’s lots of points of interest. Can’t do it this year as we’ll be doing the Simpson in September (weather permitting, it was too wet from the Qld floods last year for a single vehicle crossing the clay pans), hopefully next year at Easter or in September. Thanks again, much appreciated 😊
