What really drove me to minimalism were the hardships I've been facing the last 5 years. I had to leave my apartment with little warning and actually left in the middle of the night. I remember my 2 boys sleeping on the floor of our empty apartment as we packed the rest of our stuff in our car. On top of that, I was falsely arrested as we drove 2 hours to my grandma's house that night and left my wife (she doesn't drive) and 2 boys on the side of the road at 3am. It was terrible. We had everything in storage for a couple of years, now it's in my parent's basement... still. We still haven't recovered financially nor emotionally from the events leading to that night. Anyway, the point is that living without those things has really helped me to see what I need / want... we're constantly donating things now. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I especially like that you try to keep God involved in your life. I don't know what I would have done without Him. Thanks for the videos!

Became a minimalist for spiritual reasons about 2 years ago (age 49! little late?). Definitely looks different for different people but there are definite practical life and spiritual benefits to such a lifestyle. I guess there is a reason why minimalism has been practiced by many since Jesus Himself and the the church as recorded in Acts. For anyone reading this...I just encourage you to "you do you"...in other words....take baby steps toward such a lifestyle if need be....and don't let anyone else project onto you how your minimalist lifestyle should look. We all have different life situations and circumstances and so it will look differently for all of us. Its the principle that counts! Avoid legalism or its all for nothing. Thanks for the video sweetie! May the Lord bless you richly. :)

Love what you said about solitude time with God, as this world can get very distracting at times. Minimalism is definitely helping me gain more focus on what matters. I'll check out the book recommendation too! Thanks so much, Joy! 💛

Good chat! Even though the term isn't in the Bible, the concept is! Life us not in the abundance of things. Do not store up treasures here on earth. Stewardship. John the Baptist-if you have two tunics give one away and share your food, passages on being generous and sharing your stuff. Don't worry about what you eat drink or wear. Lots about greed. I could go on! But yes keep you focus on Jesus!!

Thank you for this video Joy. I see a yin yang symbol in your background. If you pray and do research into it, you will see it is occultism and will be quick to trash it and anything else which is anti Christ. Peace to you and your family.
