    Sean Tuhoy said at Below Deck referring to the negotiations about the movie that he told a guy: "I would give you the right to use our name if I get to read the script and approve it or unapprove it." * (Michael Oher did not have that same power). Taking into account that the book was also written by a friend of the Tuhoys, one can understand the bias in the story. On the other hand, Michael Oher did not have anyone to represent his image and interests at the time other than "his parents".
    So, instead of gaining legal privileges as a son by being adopted, Oher lost legal rights when put under a conservationship that stripped him legally from his right to make decisions about his health, education and business. He was forbidden to establish contracts without the approval of the Tuhoys, while the Tuhoys had no limitation to use his image, name and likeness.

The the important part is that unless you're from akron (which i am) you wouldn't know who they are or that he lived them for several years. They did it because they loved him and his mother. And Michael Oher should thank his lucky stars Michael Lewis is Sean's old friend. If he hadn't been visiting Sean and just happen to walk in and see Oher living at Sean's house... then no book... no movie. Michael Oher would have probably still been an NFL player, but he would be one of the MANY *offensive linemen* that no one can even name, and nobody cares about.

      Lol your vomiting false facts and manipulating the truth. TN law requires a GPA 2.0 or progression from a 1.5 before any athlete is allowed to play any HS sports. Oher started playing HS 🏈, 🏀 and track BEFORE he knew the Tuohys and had already won Offensive Lineman of Year in Division II HS football, projected 5 star recruit with college offers. He only lived with them his senior year. Get your facts straight. This is going to court because it’s a PROBATE case NOT a civil lawsuit. He’s not suing them, he petition the court because 1. It’s the ONLY way to dissolve a conservatorship 2. Like any court filing in any section, it’s required to stipulate why/what reasons you have for the request.

      @tinan97478 ok so he may have had a 2.0 maybe have you seen his transcripts and if you tell me athletes never found away around the guidelines such as what he did enrolling in online classes to replace his low grades with higher ones that is a fact look it up either way that doesn't change that the movie is based on not a direct representation. It doesn't change the amount of money that they may have received from the film. And either way it's their story as well.

    Why was Michel Oher not adopted? He could have been adopted at 18 years old as the laws in TN allow older boys and girls to be adopted. Michael still had a birth mother who was living close by and Oher still loved her snd saw her often. Based on what he wrote in his own autobiography, the Tuohys respected that bond immensely and would NEVER sever that relationship. I'm sure it was painful enough for his mom to admit she was a failure as a mother and to sign the CARE of her child over to the Tuohys. Why hurt her more by asking her to completely disown her child?

    Adnan & David were great and Amin is great because he’s seen everything. David picked an excellent one with All of Me. It’s wonderful, but can’t believe Planes, Trains wasn’t on his list, much less #1. That movie is amazing. Funny and heartwarming. The car rental scene & motel scene are some of the best comedy scenes ever.

    Why did the Tuohys not adopt Michael Oher ?

    • @aldoabruzzi6417
      @aldoabruzzi6417 9 місяців тому

      If you read Michael Oher's 2011 autobiography, it makes perfect sense why they didn't formally adopt him away from his mother and biological family.

      _"There was just one condition for living with the Tuohys, and this had been made clear to me since I first started relying on them: They wanted to make sure I was going to keep a relationship with my birth family. At no point did they want there to be any kind of a feeling like they had taken me away from my mother, or kept me from her and made me cut all ties."_
      It goes on and on about them insisting he visit her every so often, Sean giving his mom a job at one of his restaurants to try and keep her clean, bringing her to his football games, buying her what Oher calls _"a nice church dress"_ so she could come to senior night and stand with him out on the field _"as the seniors were escorted out on the field by their _*_parents_*_ "_
      Hmm... insisting he not cut ties with his mother and birth family. Giving his crack-head mom a job. Bringing his mother to his games and buying her a dress so she could stand on the field as his MOTHER. Anyone who questions why they wanted to be his guardians and not adopt him away from his birth mother knows NOTHING about his story and probably just wants to hate them. Michael Oher should read what *he himself wrote* back in 2011 and stop casting doubt on their motives.
