I saw the Searchers play in the mid 80’s, and thought they were not just highly professional, but super entertaining. I was fortunate enough to meet bass player Frank Allen & guitarist John McNally after the show, and found out what the band had been currently up to...nice guys, real classy gentlemen, those two!
A fine and reverent Merseybeat version of the Ian and Sylvia original issued the same year by the duo. Neil Young also covered it later. The song has acquired a sort of a Canadian anthem status over the years.
Annie I have seen them over 20 times here in the UK over 40 years - still now as good as they ever were. Hit after hit in their concerts and still the very best band I have ever seen live.
Now all retired. Thank you, Boys, for the great music over the years.
Brian. Spencer not Retired he is doing solo shows and working with The 60s Explosion .

My all time favorite Merseybeat group of all time. I played their stuff so much, the needle wore through the vinyl.

I think this concert was in Crewe.
Love The Searchers' music, but Ian Tyson does Four Strong Winds unlike anybody else!
Looks like a very well done shot, is it available to us peasants?
+Richard Brubaker It's taken from their video

They sound like a 'tribute' band without Mike Pender.
