Hi Kurt, im not sure if you saw my answer..... my oil press. gauge in the car reads 0-20-60-100-140, so I assume thats PSI reading, as PSI is almost 15 per BAR. I also tested the pressure with a external PSI gauge installed where the oil press. sender goes and I got the same reading of 20 PSI and it never changed at any RPM's. crazy, thanks again. Russ

Can you clarify: is it just the one spring that is now longer and thinner, or are both springs the same? I’m getting ready to order a “kit” with all of the parts for both oil pressure and safety valves for my 1987 motor, and I want to insure that they are correct when they come and insure that I don’t mix them up if they are different. Thanks.

The oil pressure control spring is longer and thinner than the safety valve spring. The oil pressure control spring has to be used in conjunction with the new plug and spring guide rod. Where as the safety valve spring is installed without a guide tube.

These can be removed without having oil changed yes?

Yes you can easily remove the pressure valve, the safety valve is a little harder to access because of the exhaust header. Removing the parts does not require the sump to be drained.
      Thanks Kurt

Hello Kurt, QQ, I just finished a total rebuild on a 74 911S. I put the old oil pressure and oil safety valves back in. ( the ones with the holes), my oil pressure won't get passed 20 bars even at high rpm's, so I replaced them with the new style spring and piston, I still have the same problem, no pressure past 20. What might I try now, Thank You for your help. Russ

I assume you mean 20 PSI not 20 Bar which equals 294 PSI? So my question would be how are you measuring this? Are you using an external gauge? Or just the one fitted to the car? If it is just the one fitted to the car I would not trust it as they are an indication of oil pressure but are rarely correct. I would always measure oil pressure using an external gauge.

Thanks for the response, OK , I have the oil pressure gauge on the instrument panel in the car that reads from 0- 20- 60- 100- 140, I assume that is PSI reading? As a bar is close to 15 PSI, as you know. I also installed a external PSI gauge where the oil press. sending unit was. I get the same reading as in the car, 20 PSI at start up, and it never gets higher than that at any RPM's. Crazy right. thanks Kurt.
