Advice caution the Zoom H6 essential ASIO driver is not compatible with the windows 11 arm64 and the error reported is it required x64 processor. I have been informed that there is no solution for this situation. It cannot be used as a audio interface on windows 11 arm 64.
Just a heads up, you can normalize your audio on the H4e before you export it. There’s setting on the recorder itself that you click to export a normalized version of your recording to your SD. Comes out much louder in post
I have an H5 and am considering upgrading, but am concerned with a couple things. Is there any features “missing” - audio interface, etc. Also, I am very curious as to your perception on the differences between the noise floor for the preamps on each unit and the battery life.
If im looking to playback recordings on set before im able to take them to a pc for editing, can you adjust the volume up with the fader or some other method so it doesnt sound so low when playing back on headphones on set before taking it to the pc to raise the levels?
Why thank you, kind sir. 2 combo jacks XLR or 1/4”. I was completely amazed when I went to use it for end dialogue and it plugged right in and instantly configured. I’m really likeing it.
It records at a lower volume to help offset high or low volumes allowing you to bring up any sound characteristics you want with much greater precision; EQ, volume, etc.
The volume may be lower but the resolution on it is so much higher that you can do much more in editing. Kind of like shooting in RAW photography vs JPEG. The raw image has much more detailed information.

im glad its much shorter, the h5 mounted on my camera was just too long sometimes

The H5 sounds better to my ears - even listening on old Apple earbuds. I reckon the preamps in the H5 are better.

I think the H5 is a better made recorder then the H4essential, but the H4e had the 32 bit recording. It is missing the warm sound of the H5 and H6.

Yes, it has a headphone output along with playback volume, as well as internal mixer.
Which editing software do you prefer?
I use Logic Pro because I’m an Apple user, but I have used Reaper, Audacity, Studio One. It really is just your preference.
