Thanks for sharing your travel down on memory lane! I only got to play physical pokemon now, as i am older. So i don't got saves from my old playthrough on emulator's.. but is a gem to see your memories and reflection on how you would change your teams! Have a nice day :)
I enjoy the detail of the sprites evolving with the games--can tell you put a lot of effort into this one. I almost never ended my physical game saves at the Hall of Fame--every cartridge I have has been abandoned somewhere in the middle of a new playthrough which makes remembering my own Hall of Fames impossible. I definitely had favorites growing up such as Jolteon, Mantine, Breloom, and Chimecho, but remembering teams outside of my starter picks is a mystery. I almost never picked my team based on their stats...I just used what I liked aesthetically or seemed fun in the moment.

LOL! Genoci, you and me have the same Pokémon Sapphire duo, aka Blaziken + Kyogre, Blaziken and Kyogre were the two mons I always used in the Elite Four! And Blaziken got to 100 and Kyogre followed after.
My first playing pokemon game is yellow, and my team are venusaur, blastoise, charizard, electabuzz, and rhydon only five because i Don,t know a pokemon can use 6 slot of pokemon when i child i know 5 only pokemon slot
My very first team was in Pokemon Leafgreen: Blastoise, Nidoqueen, Raticate, Pidgeot, Victreebell, Ninetails. If I was to replay it: Blastoise, Nidoqueen, Raticate, Jolteon, Gengar, Aerodactyl.
My first game was pearl. I had: torterra, crobat, west sea gastrodon, mismagius, rapidash, and palkia (who's spot originally belonged to chatot). The mismagius holds a special place in my heart due to me being the only one of me and my 2 friends choosing pearl. I had caught misdreavus in eterna forest, and i kept it on my team. We found out about mismagius through fantina, and I remember me and my friends spending DAYS trying to figure out how to evolve misdreavus. Honestly one of my favourite memories playing pokemon.
Gen 1 staple was always Raticate entirely down to Superfang never accidentally K.O a mon i wanted to catch. Gen 3 Sableeye had soo many immunities not to use it and ignoe eveything from certain trainers. Double kick Blaziken destroyed the constant Team Aqua grunt usage of Carvanha.
I always had, and still do, have one of the Starting types each in the team, so back then I've had Charizard, Victreebell and Polywrath for that. Then a Pidgeot, Jolteon and the Dugtrio from the cave.
my best memories were playing Black 2. Somehow as a kid at the PWT I beat every gym leader and Champion bracket with a team of Pokémon I built from trading a lot on the GTS. They were: Hydreigon, Salamence (shiny), Moltres (shiny), Porygon Z (shiny), Latias, and Volcarona. definitely my most memorable team ever 👍
Lost my old gameboy but i remember my first team in FireRed, Being Vinny the Venusaur, Phantom the Gengar, Big Mac the Snorlax, Wylde the Arcanine, Gemstar the Starmie (Traded it from a friend who had Leaf Green as a Staryu) and Bonk the Electrode. I will always hold those pokemon in my heart since they were the first ones that got me to the champion title
Childhood i would have been about 10 when pokemon come to the uk which was around the year 1999. Of course i was introduced to the tv series before i begged my mum for a gameboy and a copy of Pokémon. My fav pokemon at the time was the mascot Pikachu. And he was always on my team no matter how many playthroughs i did . I didnt have a fav stater back then so it depended how i was feeling. But im sure on my first playthrough i chose bulbasaur. I wouldnt be able to tell you what my team of six was but im sure it mainly consisted of me using the starter and Pikachu mainly throughout the game. And then aqquiring snorlax and zapdos to take on the elite 4.
My very first game was Silver, and I vaguely remember Typhlosion, Ampharos, Lugia... also being very disappointed Jumpluff couldn't learn Fly X) But once Gen 3 rolled around, I got into a very specific habit of obeying the following rules, including all replays of the older gens: - always taking the Grass starter (because I liked having the first slot in the Pokédex being done from the word go) - only ever having 3 Pokémon on my team, HMs included - no previous gen Pokés allowed (new evolutions of old Pokémon acceptable) Yellow: Pikachu, Charizard, Nidoking Crystal: Meganium, Togetic/Noctowl/Crobat, Qwilfish/Lanturn Emerald: Sceptile, Pelipper, Whiscash Platinum: Torterra, Gastrodon, Drifblim Turns out, when you're only ever using 3 Pokémon and going out of your way to defeat every trainer, you get overlevelled pretty fast, so even that abysmal Crystal team had 0 issues with the Elite Four and Red :D I broke this habit in White, where I switched to Nuzlocke playthroughs, and never touched a game beyond Gen 5.
My first game was black 2 and I first picked Tepig but I don’t remember much about the Tepig but I do remember I had a Leavanny named Stitcher and I’m pretty sure it evolved from Swadloon in the double battle against the subway brothers outside Gear Station
And I’d always get stuck in Chargestone Cave for years until one day in one play through I made my way through it and getting to play through the rest of the game was an incredible experienc
My first pokemon game was Yellow. I've played through it multiple times throughout the years and I don't remember much in the way of team compositions, other than two things. First is that I, like so many others, still kept Pikachu around. Probably wouldn't do that if I replayed it now. Second is that I fell in love with Articuno and always had one on my team. I've always liked cold/frost/ice magic and stuff like that, and it being the strongest type against the leader of the elite 4 seemed very appropriate to me as a kid and teenager. The sprite and artwork peaked in Yellow, IMO, and got worse over the generations. The Articuno of my inner imagination always was more shiny (not to be confused with being a Shiny) and majestic. It is the only pokemon I've ever trained up to level 100. It might not be the best, but it will always hold a dear place in my heart.
I FINALLY got the cartridge to my first game ever repaired. I was so excited to see my championship team. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw I had a ditto on my team😂
I lost a few save files due to battery death (Red, Gold), losing a game (Crystal), gifting a game to a cousin (Sapphire) who sold it later on and selling a game (Black) so I could buy Platinum. However, I managed to see some teams again and write them down (levels, stats and movesets included) thanks to my younger self wanting to play with my final teams in other games: > Gold: Registered my team to Pokemon Stadium 2 (3 of 6 team members were from Red) > Sapphire: Transferred it to Diamond with Pal Park (along 4 other ex team members) However, there are some things you can't transfer (like Secret Bases). When it comes to remakes (HeartGold, Alpha Sapphire, Brilliant Diamond) I never try to get the exact same teams that I had back when I played the original games but instead I mix it up by adding new Pokemon and movesets to my teams that I didn't use before for the playthrough. This is what makes the Pokemon games replayable imo. Altough I'm looking forward to recreating my final Gen 2 Team from Gold once the DLCs for Scarlet releases as closely as possible (some moves I had on certain Pokemon in Gen 2 can't be taught to the same Pokemon in Gen 9 - also, I assume that doing all of that in a Virtual Console copy of GSC and transfering the Pokemon to Scarlet via Poke Transporter + Bank + Home while keeping their movesets unaltered won't work, at least from what I can tell).
Looking back at my older games, one thing I noticed was how I picked starters. Gen 1-4 original releases, I picked the water starters, but with each gens remakes, I went with the fire starter. Gen 5 broke the tradition overall with me picking Snivy and I will be going with Oshawatt when the gen 5 remakes are released. I can't play the original Gameboy games without picking a water starter, feels wrong lol.
Back in 2014 when I was like seven my Pokemon X team was Chesnaught, Raichu, the gift Lucario, Charizard, Mewtwo, and the first Pokemon I got to level 100, Azumarill. But the first game I played was Black 2, I got to like the elite four with a team of Serperior, Stoutland, Absol (looked cool I guess), Sigilyph, Lucario, and I am positive the last one was Zebstrika, which I caught near Mistralton to help with the Flying gym and just never replaced. I really like sigilyph and Stoutland, and I remember replacing the Absol with the Zorua, which I grinded up to the rest of my team's level at the age of like 4. Truly a natural born gamer...
I would never forget the first pokemon team in my life and childhood. Gyarados, Pidgeot, Charizard, Nidoking, Snorlax, Scyther. And just as a side note, I put gyarados in front as he was the one who deleted ALONE all the league, including Blue. He was over lvl 80 while the rest where like 40+. Good times.
My first team was Delphox, Charizard (with charizardite X), Nidoking, Xerneas, and the Meloetta and Arceus gifts i got at the start, that was an easy playthrough to say the least
Had many teams in red, some with legendaries, others without any of them. My favorites were: 1- legendary birds + mewtwo, mew and jolteon 2- blastoise, charizard, nidoking, nidoqueen, jolteon and alakazam 3- lapras, gengar, arcanine, elektabuzz, hitmonchan and dugtrio 4- porygon, zapdos, venusaur, articuno, dragonite and ninetales.
For me, my first Pokèmon games were Gold & Crystal and despite that as a kid i had no knowledge of the English language whatsoever, it helped me into my learning journey and my love for the games as well. As for my team i can barely remember the one i did in Gold Version but as for Crystal i'll always remember my trusted pal Typhlosion as he was the first one that i raised up to Level 100 back then
Ahh the old "idk english at all but I'll still play this game" period. I remembered playing yugioh with only knowing some english. Lol I was so frustrated because the cards didn't activate the effect the way I understood them and I got stuck on level 5-6. Now that I know english and some ygo strats, even the highest level is too easy
@@MrDeerbomb haha i know that feel as well with Yugioh. Good times of barely knowing much of the game as a whole and just making mistakes or the AI just being well the AI XD. But it helped me learn a lot in the end, so i can't complain about that.
For some reason this video reminded me that I totally ran raichu when I was a kid in firered (my first game)which ends up meaning my first team was Charizard Raichu Primeape Nidoking Snorlax Lapras I felt a kinship with the static encounters and gift Pokémon so of course I brought them to the elite 4
Me in Pokémon Yellow. . . Battery is dead as it went through the wash. But I remember distinctly my first time playing the game as a toddler. Pikachu and Pidgey Vs Brock Pikachu spamming Tail Whip for Gust Pidgey to clean up. I wish I could go back in time and slap my younger self upside the head-
If you were to do the Gym leader Challenge? What type would you use for gen 1. Remember; Rock, Water, Electric, Grass, Poison, Psychic, Fire and Ground are taken. And if you want even more Pain; Ice, Fighting, Ghost/Dark (So many under handed Tactics, Agatha) and Flying I mean Dragon. No Legendary. Flying could be Fun, Scyther and/or Golbat, Dodrio, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Ace Charizard
Super awesome video! I just have to point out how that you can’t get a lv40 Tentacruel in Johto because the super rod is locked away in Kanto. But you likely got a lv23-24 Tentacool/cruel surfing east of New Bark and trained it from there, which is fair enough
I would carry with nidoking for the first 3 badges and silph, then rush down to fuscia. From there id dump all exp into the dragionaire from the super rod, and Wrap my way through the rest of the game, barely looking away from Spongebob on the TV while tapping A on Wrap. Looking back, i should have just kept nidoking
this was such a nice and comforting video tbh, makes me wanna dig up my old saves too :D, I remember my first game was Black and since I was addicted to the internet as a kid I found out about mystery gift pokémon so most of my team were those lol. I believe my final team was an Over-leveled Samurott (not MINE though because I for some reason traded my dewott for a 5th grader's dewott because I guess I thought their's would be stronger lmao, I was in 2nd grade at the time), my Krookidile, a mystery gift Mewtwo (my favorite mon at the time), a mystery gift Darkrai, an event Victini, and Reshiram
God I remember my childhood Ruby team like it was yesterday, Swampert, Pelipper, Groudon, Glalie, Flygon, Cacturne. I really just picked what I thought looked cool… don’t ask me why I thought Pelipper looked cool…
My first pokemon was also Pokemon red. Just played until I got my Blastoise to Lv100 and it had skull bash, Hydro pump, surf and earthquake. I remember having a Articuno, gyrados and Pidgeot
I've either lost or restarted most of the games I owned when I was younger. I still don't plan out my team before hand just the starter. The only ones that I have never restarted are Yellow White white 2 Omega Ruby Ultra sun and moon. I have never restarted any of the switch pokemon games.
I remember in my first red playthrough I did a nuzlocke and I used only 5 pokemons and none of them died, my team was: Venasaur Pidgeot Golem Gyarados Flareon u got the eevolutions, the regional bird, the starter and the grass, fire, water trio
My team in Yellow was Pikachu (sometimes replaced, depending on if I was battling another person), Alakazam, Dragonite, Charizard, Lapras, and Mewtwo. When I replaced Pikachu, it was usually either with Gengar or Articuno. Local rules usually limited you to one legendary and one starter though. I was that kid who ground until his full team was level 100 and maxed out PP on all moves, and had several cloned Mews in a box. I had a standing challenge: pay me $5 to battle me, and if you won, I'd give you a Mew. Nobody ever got a Mew, because kids were stupid. I never had to beg my mom for money for snacks and soda though.
My Silver team was Feraligatr, Alakazam, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Lapras, and Lugia/Mewtwo. Again, I never lost to another player because kids are dumb and I maxed out my levels, stats, and PP on all my Pokemon.
I'd like to do the same for my teams if you don't mind My birthyear was 1992 so I was 6 when Pokemon was released in the USA and I pretty much bought nearly every mainline game, the only games I haven't bought are green, the Japanese exclusive version of stadium and black 2 My teams listed covers from my kindergarten years to late high school Like you for the first 3 generations I often restarted my playthroughs over and over after beating the story and trading any pokemon I wanted to keep onto another cartridge, they mostly were the starters and legendarys For my original pokemon red team and my first team ever included A Venusaur who became shiny after being traded to gen 2 A Raichu A mew obtained via a glitch that also turned shiny after being traded to gen 2 An Arcanine A Snorlax Mewtwo Subsequent playthroughs I'd use Venusaur Snorlax and Pikachu with a farfetched For blue I simply repeatedly soloed it with the starters For Pokemon yellow I obtained the starter Pikachu who is a staple of my teams so get use to seeing him alot cause I always want to use that same Pikachu on every team across every region The starter Pikachu you'll see a lot of Nidoking Venusaur Pidgeot Chansey Porygon For silver gold and crystal I simply used the same team Yellow Pikachu Venusaur from yellow Mewtwo I traded from yellow Porygon from yellow Typhlosion who was my starter The Eevee bill gives you it never evolved In case you ask transferring Pokemon from gens 1 and 2 to gen 3 involves using flash carts and a save file editor For ruby my team was Yellow Pikachu Sceptile who was my starter A swellow Ninjask Shedinja Wailord My sapphire team was Yellow Pikachu Marshtomp who was my starter and never evolved A metang I got from a preused save file A pupitar I got from a preused save file A menetric A sharpedo For FireRed I literally reused my yellow team For leaf green I used Yellow Pikachu Charizard who was my starter My Porygon from yellow A Snorlax A Golbat A slowbro For collosium I used The evolution starter Dukings plusle And the 3 legendary beasts For the main story, but once I gained accses to trading I swamped plusle and suicune for my Pikachu and Mewtwo from yellow For xd I used A Jolteon A Meowth who I planed to make into a ribbon master The shadow Lugia My yellow Pikachu The 2 slots were reserved for random shadow Pokemon For emerald I didn't make a new team, I used my Pikachu and Meowth For pearl my team was Yellow Pikachu Torterra Luxury Fliatzel Chatot Bibarel Diamond was different, for diamonded I traded my starter quickly and used a team entirely of pokemon transfered from other cartridges The team was Yellow Pikachu The electavire from battle revolution The mentang and pupitar I used in sapphire The manaphy from ranger My marshtomp from sapphire For platinum I used Yellow Pikachu Infernape Lucario from ranger The lake trio I used 2 different teams for heart gold, 1 for Johto and 1 for Kanto The Johto team was Yellow Pikachu Megainium Porygon 2 from yellow Gengar Spiky ear pichu Kenya the fearrow Togekiss For the Kanto team I used Yellow Pikachu My Meowth from xd My Charizard from leaf green My Venusaur from yellow My mewtwo Ho oh For soul silver my team was Yellow Pikachu Tentacrule Ho oh Mamoseine Steelix Gastradon
In pokemon red i used: charizard, beedrill, articuno, lapras, and i dont remember the last two but they were probably just some random low level pokemon
my first game was red that i got from my cousins. i don’t have the save anymore as the battery has died, but i remember only using charizard 😂 i couldn’t really read when i started playing it and didn’t know you could catch new pokémon
My first game was pokemon yellow. As I started playing at the age of 5 and my team always consisted of Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Snorlax and Gyarados. As I believe before having all the starters I am the strongest aside from legendaries lol.
I have that exact same R4 Revolution cartridge and mine didn’t work ether! It took a while but after a lot of searching I was able to find the software and drivers to get it working. I even found an update patch that lets you play DS games that were released after the cartridge (which you couldn’t do before).
Both of the flashcarts just straight up stopped working. The DS doesn't recognize them anymore. Not that it matters, a smartphone can play every DS game at like 500% speed anyways.
I still remember my first teams. I went off what I though was cool. Red was Carzard, Haunter, Hipmoncan, Nidoking, Onix slot time trained out for gravler, and pigott. Onix to this day is still one my favorites. Ask if u wanna know my other teams lol
My first ever game was Diamond, I was around .. 12 if I remember correctly .. Team was: Torterra (my first Pokémon that reached level 100!) Gravler Quagsire Fearow Bibarel I think I actually only had five and I really don't know why I had so many ground types lmao
Too bad I can't check my Y and Omega Ruby save files because my American 2DS my mom bought when she went to the US for a while, is either dead or I haven't tried hard enough to get it to work properly for one last time, but at least I can still see the first completion of my Pokémon Black savefile with my trusted level 80 Emboar with no Fighting moves and armed with Flamethrower, Rock Slide, Grass Knot(?) and Scald.
I was around 8 or 9 when R/B came out. For my B day my parents got me a grape color GBC with both versions and a link cable. But i was partial ro Blue version. So if i remember correctly my team was -BB (My blastoise who i named BB after a BB gun because as a little squirtle his slite had a tiny round head lok a BB pelled) -Fearow -Magmar -Vileplume -Nidoqueen -Hypno Kind of a middle of the road team but definitely serviceable In pokemon G/S/C My team was -Typhlosion -Umbreon -Kingler -Machamp -Noctowl -Amphuros R/S -Sceptile -Gyarados -Flygon -Torkoal -Hariyama -Exlpoud
There are people that can fix your early cartridges by replacing the battery in them. There might be other ways to get access to the data stored in there, but at least there is a way to possibly check out the saves there if you want!
I've replaced about a half dozen Pokemon batteries, and unfortunately by the time the battery dies the memory is gone. It's like unplugging an frogger arcade cabinet: it's scrambled when the game loses power.
My gen 1 team was Charmander and Pidgey. Somehow I managed to save at Mt Moon, but never figured out how to do it again. So i never really made progress and then... my game was stolen😓
It wasnt until pokemon sword that i tried to used no overlapping types so my moon, gold, and lets go eevee playthoughts were very unbalanced my gold and lets go eevee team was better then my moon team thought (my moon elite four team i had 3 fire types, 2 ghost types and 2 ice types for context)
Leaf Green was the very first Kanto game I beat when I was 8 or 9 years old, but I never returned to the first games because their remakes were simply better. The first time I officially finished Pokemon Red was in 2019 while doing some sort of challenge run. Pokemon Sapphire was the first ever Pokemon game I beat at the age of 6 or 7.
Pokemon fire red Lv 42 blastoise and lv 23 oddish (couldn't speak English and got stuck at the second gym) 15 years later same game Blastoise Clefairy(goat) Jigglypuff Nidoqueen Seadra/Snorlax Articuno
oh and for gale of darkness i would have umbreon, houndoom, breloom (again), ampharos, walrein, and...honestly, i think i went out of my way to get aggron in this game too lol
I remember my typical sapphire team being Swampert Pelipper Gyarados Minun Kyogre And a random pokemon Nowdays I would make a rain team. I'd keep Swampert because c'mon now Pelipper because water flier Minun because I like it more than Manectric Kyogre for the rain I'd swap Gyarados with Gardevoir since I don't like pre-split Gdos and Gar can use thunder instead of thunderbolt The missing mon slot would be occupied by Flygon to block incoming electric type attacks and also I like it more than Salamance
I was eating sand at 3 years old, how the hell did you manage to play pokemon??😂
Sometimes I wonder how I finished certain video games at a young age. How did I ever discover how to save even? My dad had a bit of experience with video games, so maybe he helped me at times.
Its not possible unless he was born an asian with inherently high iq
Pressing random buttons isn't that difficult for a toddler tho
Yeah I played pokemon when I was 3 too, one of my earliest memories is beating Misty with an Ivysaur and 3 butterfree, idk why young me caught so many caterpies, that’s ironic since Weedle has been my fav pokemon since forever
Bruh that was easy , I beat Pokémon red before I could read at age 3
I know exactly why you stopped at Cinnabar Island because I’m sure I was the same… Never figured out to buy a drink for the staff to get into Saffron City.
The kingdom of the Mudkip agree with your statement about swampert

OG Team: Serperior, Sawk, Sigilyph, Vanilluxe, Chandelure, Klinklang
a fellow chimecho enjoyer oh my gosh I thought we went extinct
i’m a year late but i’m excited to see the rest of your playthrough teams! :)

14:14 How did Skarmory use Iron Head in Colosseum? Iron Head was introduced in Gen 4
It's footage from a rom hack called Pokemon Grand Colosseum
@@Genoci Ah, that makes sense

Kicking Pikachu off your Yellow team... you're a cold blooded monster
bro is merely exchanging the mouse for an actual cold blooded monster
I started just as young as you playing videogames, but nothing as complex as pokemon. Kudos to you, my friend
Pokemon gold:
Feraligatr, Sentret, Togepi, Hoothoot,
Shiny Gyarados, Sudowoodo,
Thats the team for the main game i later changed Togepi to Snorlax but besides that thats the team u always used
Getting rid of Pikachu in Yellow is. acrime against Pokemon.

- no previous gen Pokés allowed (new evolutions of old Pokémon acceptable)
Yellow: Pikachu, Charizard, Nidoking
Crystal: Meganium, Togetic/Noctowl/Crobat, Qwilfish/Lanturn
Emerald: Sceptile, Pelipper, Whiscash
Platinum: Torterra, Gastrodon, Drifblim
Turns out, when you're only ever using 3 Pokémon and going out of your way to defeat every trainer, you get overlevelled pretty fast, so even that abysmal Crystal team had 0 issues with the Elite Four and Red :D
I broke this habit in White, where I switched to Nuzlocke playthroughs, and never touched a game beyond Gen 5.
What a cool trip down memory lane!
Just a small correction regarding Steelix in HG/SS: It is catchable in the cave on the way to the safari zone.
However, I managed to see some teams again and write them down (levels, stats and movesets included) thanks to my younger self wanting to play with my final teams in other games:
> Gold: Registered my team to Pokemon Stadium 2 (3 of 6 team members were from Red)
> Sapphire: Transferred it to Diamond with Pal Park (along 4 other ex team members)
However, there are some things you can't transfer (like Secret Bases).
The Water starters are always very strong, but each gen also releases a bunch of amazing Water types that I want to use. The struggle is real.
Yayy!
You're back!!!
My favorites were:
1- legendary birds + mewtwo, mew and jolteon
2- blastoise, charizard, nidoking, nidoqueen, jolteon and alakazam
3- lapras, gengar, arcanine, elektabuzz, hitmonchan and dugtrio
4- porygon, zapdos, venusaur, articuno, dragonite and ninetales.
That's like 1300 dollars usd in pokemon games. It's insane how much the games have risen.
Yeah, the first three generations were fun times.
For some reason this video reminded me that I totally ran raichu when I was a kid in firered (my first game)which ends up meaning my first team was
Charizard
Raichu
Primeape
Nidoking
Snorlax
Lapras
I felt a kinship with the static encounters and gift Pokémon so of course I brought them to the elite 4
Me in Pokémon Yellow. . . Battery is dead as it went through the wash.
But I remember distinctly my first time playing the game as a toddler.
Pikachu and Pidgey Vs Brock
Pikachu spamming Tail Whip for Gust Pidgey to clean up.
I got the Victini because I went to see the movie starring it with my dad back in the day
God I remember my childhood Ruby team like it was yesterday, Swampert, Pelipper, Groudon, Glalie, Flygon, Cacturne.
I remember in my first red playthrough I did a nuzlocke and I used only 5 pokemons and none of them died, my team was:
Venasaur
Pidgeot
Golem
Gyarados
Flareon
u got the eevolutions, the regional bird, the starter and the grass, fire, water trio
How do people play pokemon games especially gen 1 before they can even read. Blows my mind
You press buttons until it works basically. According to my parents, they didn't really help me either.
Your Red version team was super close to mine.
I'd like to do the same for my teams if you don't mind
My birthyear was 1992 so I was 6 when Pokemon was released in the USA and I pretty much bought nearly every mainline game, the only games I haven't bought are green, the Japanese exclusive version of stadium and black 2
My teams listed covers from my kindergarten years to late high school
Like you for the first 3 generations I often restarted my playthroughs over and over after beating the story and trading any pokemon I wanted to keep onto another cartridge, they mostly were the starters and legendarys
For my original pokemon red team and my first team ever included
A Venusaur who became shiny after being traded to gen 2
A Raichu
A mew obtained via a glitch that also turned shiny after being traded to gen 2
An Arcanine
A Snorlax
Mewtwo
Subsequent playthroughs I'd use Venusaur Snorlax and Pikachu with a farfetched
For blue I simply repeatedly soloed it with the starters
For Pokemon yellow I obtained the starter Pikachu who is a staple of my teams so get use to seeing him alot cause I always want to use that same Pikachu on every team across every region
The starter Pikachu you'll see a lot of
Nidoking
Venusaur
Pidgeot
Chansey
Porygon
For silver gold and crystal I simply used the same team
Yellow Pikachu
Venusaur from yellow
Mewtwo I traded from yellow
Porygon from yellow
Typhlosion who was my starter
The Eevee bill gives you it never evolved
In case you ask transferring Pokemon from gens 1 and 2 to gen 3 involves using flash carts and a save file editor
For ruby my team was
Yellow Pikachu
Sceptile who was my starter
A swellow
Ninjask
Shedinja
Wailord
My sapphire team was
Yellow Pikachu
Marshtomp who was my starter and never evolved
A metang I got from a preused save file
A pupitar I got from a preused save file
A menetric
A sharpedo
For FireRed I literally reused my yellow team
For leaf green I used
Yellow Pikachu
Charizard who was my starter
My Porygon from yellow
A Snorlax
A Golbat
A slowbro
For collosium I used
The evolution starter
Dukings plusle
And the 3 legendary beasts
For the main story, but once I gained accses to trading I swamped plusle and suicune for my Pikachu and Mewtwo from yellow
For xd I used
A Jolteon
A Meowth who I planed to make into a ribbon master
The shadow Lugia
My yellow Pikachu
The 2 slots were reserved for random shadow Pokemon
For emerald I didn't make a new team, I used my Pikachu and Meowth
For pearl my team was
Yellow Pikachu
Torterra
Luxury
Fliatzel
Chatot
Bibarel
Diamond was different, for diamonded I traded my starter quickly and used a team entirely of pokemon transfered from other cartridges
The team was
Yellow Pikachu
The electavire from battle revolution
The mentang and pupitar I used in sapphire
The manaphy from ranger
My marshtomp from sapphire
For platinum I used
Yellow Pikachu
Infernape
Lucario from ranger
The lake trio
I used 2 different teams for heart gold, 1 for Johto and 1 for Kanto
The Johto team was
Yellow Pikachu
Megainium
Porygon 2 from yellow
Gengar
Spiky ear pichu
Kenya the fearrow
Togekiss
For the Kanto team I used
Yellow Pikachu
My Meowth from xd
My Charizard from leaf green
My Venusaur from yellow
My mewtwo
Ho oh
For soul silver my team was
Yellow Pikachu
Tentacrule
Ho oh
Mamoseine
Steelix
Gastradon
I have the same exact GBC, and it still works perfectly.
They're worth a decent amount nowadays if they're in good condition, but idk if I'd ever sell mine
@@Genoci Yea same here
Yeah i have that one too but i would never sell it
In pokemon red i used: charizard, beedrill, articuno, lapras, and i dont remember the last two but they were probably just some random low level pokemon
In leaf green I always had blastoise, sandslash, haunter, dragonair from safari zone that I could never get to evolve, magmar, and Zapdos
your recommended black 2 team is the exact team I used
my first game was red that i got from my cousins. i don’t have the save anymore as the battery has died, but i remember only using charizard 😂 i couldn’t really read when i started playing it and didn’t know you could catch new pokémon
It took me a couple of weeks to figure you could save the game
My first game was pokemon yellow. As I started playing at the age of 5 and my team always consisted of Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Snorlax and Gyarados. As I believe before having all the starters I am the strongest aside from legendaries lol.
Welcome back
I ALWAYS use Nidoking in Gen 1. The X Accuracy with Horn Drill (and Fissure for Gengar and co.) makes the game lightwork
CHARIZARD, NOT CARZARD! HITMONCHAN, NOT HIPMONCAN! THERE SHOULD BE 2 E'S IN GRAVELER! AND IT'S PIDGEOT, NOT PIGOTT!
My first game was black i used serperior, stoutland, watchog, unefezant, haxorus(saw him in the show and looked it up) and reshiram
The fact he likes to catch high level Pokémon is so funny to me cause I always like catching low levels
As a kid I thought that high levels meant better Pokemon, but I know better now haha
I remember all my teams from when I was a kid:
Red: charizard, raichu, pidgeot, dewgong, snorlax, nidoking
Ruby: swampert, wailord, medicham, dragonite, machamp, metagross
Emerald: blaziken, aggron, wailord, camerupt, swellow, crobat
Diamond: infernape, luxray, staraptor, garchomp, floatzel, drapion
Black: samurott, simisear, unfezant, krookodile, scrafty, zebstrika
I didn't have a childhood Pokemon team cause I didn't get into Pokemon till I was like 16 and my first Pokemon game was illegal.
Bro used the same team i did in my recent playthrough of pokemon colosseum
My first ever game was Diamond, I was around .. 12 if I remember correctly ..
Team was: Torterra (my first Pokémon that reached level 100!)
Gravler
Quagsire
Fearow
Bibarel
I think I actually only had five and I really don't know why I had so many ground types lmao
Damn a pretty unique gen 4 team
My first ever team in Pokemon Yellow was:
-Pikachu
-Jolteon
-Zapdos
-Blastoise
-Charizard
-Hitmonlee
lol
So if i remember correctly my team was
-BB (My blastoise who i named BB after a BB gun because as a little squirtle his slite had a tiny round head lok a BB pelled)
-Fearow
-Magmar
-Vileplume
-Nidoqueen
-Hypno
Kind of a middle of the road team but definitely serviceable
In pokemon G/S/C
My team was
-Typhlosion
-Umbreon
-Kingler
-Machamp
-Noctowl
-Amphuros
R/S
-Sceptile
-Gyarados
-Flygon
-Torkoal
-Hariyama
-Exlpoud
There are people that can fix your early cartridges by replacing the battery in them. There might be other ways to get access to the data stored in there, but at least there is a way to possibly check out the saves there if you want!
I've replaced about a half dozen Pokemon batteries, and unfortunately by the time the battery dies the memory is gone. It's like unplugging an frogger arcade cabinet: it's scrambled when the game loses power.
Ngl my team when I was a little kid was just my overleveled typhlosion 😂
I was the kid that just leveled up and used my starter😂 i was a glass cannon, once he was done my team would get wiped quick😂
🤣🤣🤣
My gen 1 team was Charmander and Pidgey. Somehow I managed to save at Mt Moon, but never figured out how to do it again. So i never really made progress and then... my game was stolen😓
No Starmie or Alakazam in the Gen 1 games? Craaaaaaaazy!
Starmie appears in the FRLG adult team, but I would never use Alakazam because it's a trade evolution :(
Bro put Feraligator as Feraligatr. perfect
Gold Team: Feraligatr, Noctowl, Jigglypuff (i didnt know about stones back then), Togetic, Haunter, Shiny Gyardos
Ruby: Blaziken, Shiftry, Swellow, Shedinja, Wobbuffet, Groudon
LeafGreen: Venusaur, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Lapras, Hitmonlee
Diamond: Infernape, Kadabra, Roserade, Drifblim, Blissey, Lucario
Black: Samurott, Whimsicott, Archeops, Galvantula, Chandelure, Reshiram
White: Serperior, Krookodile, Reuniclus, Jellicent, Volcarona, Zekrom
X: Delphox, Lucario, Florges, Venusaur, Sylveon, Xerneas
after that i planned my teams
It wasnt until pokemon sword that i tried to used no overlapping types so my moon, gold, and lets go eevee playthoughts were very unbalanced my gold and lets go eevee team was better then my moon team thought (my moon elite four team i had 3 fire types, 2 ghost types and 2 ice types for context)
Memory Lane
Red/Blue - Rhydon, Starmie, Raichu, Alakazam, Charizard, Nidoking
Ruby/Sapphire - Swampert, Gardevoir, Aggron, Skarmory, Rayquaza, Groudon
If Leafgreen is the first time you learned how to enter Saffron City, then how did you have a Hitmonlee on your team in Red/Blue?
That's the team I'd use now for a Red playthrough.
When I played Red, my team consisted of Charizard, Missingno, and Mew.
My gen 1 at 8yo. was
Charizard
Gyarados (from mt. Moon)
Dugtrio
Raichu
Kadabra
Hunter
“Gifted” Spearo..
i struggle to belive you beat pokemon red at three years old
I never beat it at 3 years old. I always managed to reach Cinnabar Island, got stuck and reset my save file.
how old were you when you beat it?@@Genoci
Leaf Green was the very first Kanto game I beat when I was 8 or 9 years old, but I never returned to the first games because their remakes were simply better. The first time I officially finished Pokemon Red was in 2019 while doing some sort of challenge run. Pokemon Sapphire was the first ever Pokemon game I beat at the age of 6 or 7.
nice my first was fire red@@Genoci
Pokemon fire red
Lv 42 blastoise and lv 23 oddish (couldn't speak English and got stuck at the second gym)
15 years later same game
Blastoise
Clefairy(goat)
Jigglypuff
Nidoqueen
Seadra/Snorlax
Articuno
my team for emerald was usually swampert, breloom, linoone, manectric, aggron, and swellow
oh and for gale of darkness i would have umbreon, houndoom, breloom (again), ampharos, walrein, and...honestly, i think i went out of my way to get aggron in this game too lol
Lmao my yellow team was your updated one (using jolteon) except swap hypno with snorlax
I remember my typical sapphire team being
Swampert
Pelipper
Gyarados
Minun
Kyogre
And a random pokemon
Nowdays I would make a rain team. I'd keep
Swampert because c'mon now
Pelipper because water flier
Minun because I like it more than Manectric
Kyogre for the rain
I'd swap Gyarados with Gardevoir since I don't like pre-split Gdos and Gar can use thunder instead of thunderbolt
The missing mon slot would be occupied by Flygon to block incoming electric type attacks and also I like it more than Salamance
Dude what? I didn't play the games until I was 6 or 7 and even then it took me weeks to get my starter
