My name is Maegan Woodin, and I'm a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and student. I have danced for MTV, Diana Ross, Marc Jacobs and have appeared in many music videos. You can find more information about me and my career, as well as photos and videos, at www.dgtnyc.com. I'm going to be talking to you about ballet.
A Rond De Jambe is a step that we do in the bar, that incorporates tendo front, side and back and connects all those three steps.so we take our tendu to the front we are gonna move it to the side and then move it all the way back and come back to first and that's a Ron de jambe..
To wanna make sure that when you are doing messy here, knee is extended your foots pointed and you are coming back to a centered aligned first position. you can take the Ron De Jambe from the back starting with back, side and then front coming to first position .An important thing to remember is that every time you extend t your foot to front your heel is going to be leading. so wen I your heel to be your leading so when your heel to be leading ,using a turn out, and you are gonna bring it always to the to the back and then when you are starting from the back the same thing you want your heel and toe to be opened out to the back and you come to the front ,your toes are going to bring it back to first position .so this is gonna demonstrate three Ran De Jambe to the front and three to the back.

This is a great teaching moment. I coached a lot of kid baseball. This is exactly how it taught them to throw. The biggest problem watching youth baseball is the tendency of the child to throw the ball with just their arm and no lower body. The movement of the total body is what gives your throw power. Great example.

Many designers utilize ballet dancers when displaying their work. (Especially Oscar de la Renta) because they have amazing control of their bodies, understand artful angles, and can project proper dramatic movement to truly showcase the fabric's motion, flow, and full potential.

When you do it, your leg when is moving to the front or back in FRIST your heel should be touching

So is it correct to not turnout your leg as much as you go to the back? It looks like in the back, it is not as turned out as in front or to the side and when I try to do it, the same happens. Is that correct or should I work on turning it out more?

no way Hey so I hope this helps since I don't teach ballet, but in my experience it can depend on how your turn out is. I personally don't have the rotation in my hips you'd see in ballet but I understand the goal is to have your knee put and not facing the floor when going to the back. Lifting up from your hips will help this as well as make it easier to keep your leg straight. Hope I helped in some way.

It's not ballet if it's not turned out!

Hi I think generally turn out when you're working the leg to the front is easier than turn out when you working the leg to the back no matter what both legs should be working equally the standing leg and the gesturing the working leg both legs to be turnout equally least that's how I was trained always maintain equal turnout always always always always equal turn out

What is the one that goes from back to front? The movements are just like rond de jambe, just backwards.
