the wonderful weather of the Victoria l grew up in. and 38C Christmas day and mum's got the gas oven going flat out all day hahahaha thanks for another great ride buddy.
Hey mate loving it so far and I am so surprised that you had to do a walk back at North Geelong to drive the train back from the direction you were travelling, was there ever a road connection at North Geelong to Ballarat from Geelong? Thanks for your loved videos.
The line ran straight into Geelong and is still possible today to run through the yard on the track that was the main line. We run the way we did so the vlocity is still facing the same way as the other Vlocity units. Glad you are enjoying the videos. 👍😀
Very unlikely they will ever return passenger services to this line, but it would be great for excursion trains which would depend on the freight traffic, you went slow enough for me to count the 40 grain wagons so l imagine freight traffic is frequent.l like the old stations, they have character
The dual gauge consists of the main standard gauge line to Adelaide for freight and passenger and the broad gauge line to Ballarat for freight. They separate just before Gheringhap. 👍😀
@@driver667 I live in northern Adelaide suburbs and see freight trains travelling to/from Melbourne onwards to/from Perth and Darwin via Adelaide. Only problem is that legacy Adelaide Hills tunnels are too small for double stacked container loads. My sister visited me in January via the Overlander which had to slow down to 40Km/Hr in parts due to danger of heat warping the lines.
Thanks!! Looks like the line from Gerringhap to Warrneeheip is unsignalled i.e. dark. Does that mean only one train at a time? Are following moves possible? Years ago I remember they used a staff on that part of the Ballarat line. Is that still the case, perhaps an electronic staff used these days?
I love how prolific your uploads are. We are truly spoiled, thank you. 😀
No problem. It's a lot of work but I am enjoying it. 👍😊
Worth the watch, just for the final parking maneuver
@@peterbumper2769 😀 Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

Very happy to hear you enjoy them 😀👍

The line was built well like the Bendigo line. Originally double track. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊
Distinct lack of signalling. Presumably the line sees only a couple of trains per day?
Correct, if that many.... A lightly used line. 👍😀
First time I've seen dual guage rail - just north of Geelonbg. Who uses that Driver667?
The dual gauge consists of the main standard gauge line to Adelaide for freight and passenger and the broad gauge line to Ballarat for freight. They separate just before Gheringhap. 👍😀
@@driver667 So Vline runs on broad gauge of 5'3""?
Yes, mostly. The Albury service runs on standard gauge. 👍😀

@@stevewhite4164 the Adelaide Hills are a headache for rail and are restrictive unfortunately. 👍😀

Train orders are in use across there. It is a paper based system. It only sees light traffic flows. 👍😊
@@driver667 👍
are the track on the right of train when you pass the north geelong yard in use?
They are in use but seldom see a train. 👍😊
Are your speeds restricted if it's raining?
No, they are not but we add a little more caution if the track is slippery 👍😊
Wet miserable day . Give Beanzie a pat from me .
It was cold and wet. 😺😺 👍😊
we really need to return passenger service to this line .... lunacy to have a line and not use it!!!!
Who knows what the future holds 🤔👌😊
