I had a small cuddy cabin boat when my son was born. We did a lot of island hopping in the Tarpon area of Florida. He loved sleeping in it on a good beach day. It was perfect, crack the top hatch to let the breeze in and he was protected from the sun. He loved it, and we did too as it gave us a break and a chance to be adults. When they got older they would play down there. Everytime I hit a wave, they would jump on the bed cushions - and loved every bit of it. I have a center console now which is perfect for making new memories, but if I had to do it again I would keep the cuddy for when the kids were young. Those are the times that go so quickly and you never get back. But the memories will always remain.
Those were the best. I recall my family having the same concept when I was a child. We are in search of the right boat for everyone. Thanks for the support! Appreciate you following along on our channel.
@@BBatazhan You know it!!! Remember when Anclote was a huge sand bar? And when 3 rooker was one island 🤣 I'd say those were the days, but I still frequent both islands!
I'm rebuilding a 1972 Starcraft 16' Deep V . I'm keeping the side console so I have plenty of floor space to sleep. Im going to rig some kind of camping top.👍
Yes I can relate to that. We just bought our third boat. First one was a little 4.2mtr little 4 seater speedboat with a 40hp on it. Used it for watersports and for camping out on anchor small as it was. We made a little camper canvas to be able to be dry and warm. The back to back seats could go in lounge mode with the last of the 4 pieces under 45 degrees up. We would lie down and the cockpit was 100% filled at this point. shoulders touching each other and the sides. I made carpet and indirect lights under the little gunnels and we could make tea when I sat down on the mini bow. Sitting straight up would mean your complete head was higher than the windshield. It was a very small boat. When most of our friends got into having kids we felt it was time to upgrade so friends could still come with us for a day on the water incl kids. So we ended up with a yr 2000 Maxum 1900 sc with 4.6ltr v6 mercruiser. This boat was a sports cuddy and also had a full little camper canvas, little porto potti, 6 seats and padded engine cover that could flip over to convert to an extended table so you could eat on it with 4 people seated on the two seats next to the engine cover and the two back seats of the two back to back seats in the boat. We also camped out a lot with this one and also used it a lot for watersports. For camping out on anchor we usually stayed for two nights and had food an water to provide us for those two and a half days on the water. Later even had a 100watt semi flex solar panel to have power for the little car fridge we took in later years. Even with our daugther we kept going camping with it. But When she started getting bigger sleeping space got a problem. Again trying to sleep in a space that became too small in this cuddy with the tree of us. So last year we decided it was finally time to get a bigger boat and ended up with a yr 2001 cruisers yachts 3470 express. Great boat with a lot of space compared what we were used to. Two Yanmar turbo diesels. It has a lot of comfort because it is like a little luxery house that can move pretty swift compared to a speedboat that can sleep two persons in a small cuddy you need to crawl in to. But I must say that I do miss the ease of use and manouvering of the old trailered boat. Miss fast acceleration and the feel of going fast and flying over waves. But in the end it is a much better situation for us because the Maxum got too small and we took so much stuff for the weekend. Many towels, food, little camping stove to make simple meals on the swimplatform or make tea and coffee. the car fridge, solar panel that we only had out when on anchor, the extra battery, the rc boat and charger, phones tablet, little battery powerd bodyboard, water, floties etc. The longest time we stayed on board at anchor was 5 nights with the three of us in the little nature reserve. Great trip. swimming and playing, watching a movie in the evening, doing games. So yeah great great memories but now busy making more with an even bigger boat.
Marquesas were a favorite diving and camp out spot when I was a kid … so thanks for taking me back. Looks as pristine as ever. The little mother looks happy and healthy as ever… you two are at your best together…. and great friends. A slice of heaven!
Great video guys and love the boat! I have a wife who’s down with boat camping and our last trip was a 14 day trip in the Sea of Cortez on our 34’ Fountain CC. Brought a tent in case of rain but never needed it - slept under the stars each night! We have a 12 volt coffee pot that we used to heat water for coffee + hot tea. Game changer for those chilly, 65 degree mornings ;)
Thanks for following along. Happy to hear you guys enjoyed your trip. That must have been an epic camping trip. We need to look into a coffee pot to bring out.
Thanks to you guys for this Channel. I'm Cuban, I lives in Toronto, I spent two years of my life living in Miami, and going to the Keys was one of the things that I enjoyed the most. I miss that lifestyle so much. Now when the days are dark and cold in this city, I watch your videos and is like a window for me to scape to my favorite place on earth. God bless you guys and keep making these breathtaking videos.
Hey guys, Jeff here, my wife and so are one year out from moving to west coast Fla and enjoying the good life. Out of all the UA-camrs, I think I love you guys boat the most, can I ask, the make, model, length and engines… I would ask the price but I have felling a boat like yours is out of our range. Thanks for your great videos. Jeff.

Yes, the marquees keys and boca grande key is really beautiful. But one thing my wife and son ran into was don't wash your hands overboard, there is some of the largest barracuda I have ever seen. We couldn't get our bait down before they nailed it.😢 they were like piranhas. The Dry Tortugas was the high light of our many trips. Absolutely love the adventures. ❤😊 and bring extra gas.

One thing i noticed back in the 1980s was that the 20:49 sand bar was not there. Also, the Dry Tortugas was not connected to that long sand bar, the coal docks there was a deep channel that was going north. The sites in ft. Jefferson were absolutely great, Dr. Mudd's cell was hard to believe he treated John Wilks Booth leg wounds after shooting President Lincoln. The fort was a prisoners nightmare. The fort was used as a prison. No escaping that prison.

Nice trip! Just wait, it got even harder to get my wife to go camping once there’s the extra work it takes to bring babies and young kids. I’ve got a Seasport boat which is popular on the West coast. They’ve got hard enclosed cabins and forward berths. Kids love being up in the bow with their friends especially when swells make them bounce around, and it makes the women feel safer and give them somewhere to get out of the weather when it’s cold and rainy in the Pacific Northwest

It happens to all of us lol. Using 2 anchors is a must 😊
I would’ve seasoned the chicken at home first. And laid Tin foil on grill rack to prevent flare up
Thanks for the suggestion. We did that with our vegetables but it kept flaring up. The only thing that worked was putting a little water on the top portion of the Grill. Thanks so much for watching!
What do you shoot with? I Own Cleveland Fishing Co up here on Lake Erie. We started filming and documenting trips on the Great Lakes for a UA-cam channel. Just curious what you shoot with and how you capture sound? We've got the cameras with mic's but it never looks like your quality does. Maybe Ohio is just ugly! My Whaler isn't as nice as that Contender either!
I Loooove Key West. Thanx for showing me the part I couldn't. 🥰
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching.
You guys should really look into getting a boat with a cabin you wont regret it at all specially with the baby on its way congrats
We are in search. We know it'll be great for our new family.
good video , I would like to change my boat to a larger one , so that I can get a fantastic camping as I see your camping on a boat
You can do it! Its a great experience.
What happened to “red right return” keeping channel markers on your right side when returning from a larger body of water?
Hmmm not sure I think it’s a little different since you’re technically in a big body of water
Preventive Maintenace. service your engine often.
I couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Clay. Living the dream. 😀😀😀
Thanks Craig! I appreciate it.
What app are you using at 18:27? Over the top of those rock piles.
Garmin active captain. Thanks so much for watching!
I heard that "we need a boat with a cabin" comment. Scout 400 LXF :)
I’ll check it out! A lot of great options on the market. Thanks for the suggestion!
Congrats you guys so happy for you both !!
Thanks so much! We appreciate the support!
have a canvas maker build you a nice dodger with a zipper attach camper back enclosure. would be sweet
That sure would! Thanks for watching.
Can you pitch a tent on the beach in the Marquesas? I'm getting serious FOMO sitting at my work desk watching this video. Awesome content guys!
I'm not too sure about that. Thanks so much for the support!
Everyone knows... You go to Tosche Station to get power converters..
Appreciate you watching!
Such a quality vid and adventure! Epic
Where and how do you go to the bathroom on your boat?
We have a restroom in the boat.
Congratulations you guys on your baby girl.
Thank you so much 😀
Congratulations guys. I did not know you were expecting.
Thank you! Yes, she's due in April. Right around the corner.
Hey hey hey knock'n the minnesotan's! Being from the ice box of the nation (international falls) now transplanted to SE GA, my blood has dedinately thinned! Beautiful videos as always. Kudos Stephie for getting out there! Clay that baby girl needs a seakeeper! Are your jackets online?
Thanks so much! They're probably laughing at us Floridians lol. I bet Stephanie would agree to a sea keeper lol. We have hoodies online but not our windbreaker jackets. I appreciate the support!
Did you trailer the boat to KW? If so, where do you leave the truck & trailer when there?
We rode it from our house to the lower Keys. It was a busy weekend so we decided to avoid all traffic.
Where did you get your boat cover from?
Captains tailor. Thanks so much for the support on the channel!
The best beach camping investment ever is a set of waders. Lets you walk from boat to beach and back completely dry
We would probably use it once a year but definitely need to look into it. Thanks for watching!

Man I envy you! You live the life. You go to some beautiful places. I love the Caribbean. That's why I live in S. Florida, Margate to be exact. I'd love to go out on the boat with you. Great fun! God bless.
