I purchased the BOSCH MUM-4405 in Europe in the 90's, then took it with me when I moved to North America, still using it (in 2018!) with a voltage transformer. Have 5 shredding/slicing discs (also the one for julienne), the meat grinder and the blender. Just not the food processor, I did not like the height of the whole assembly. The mixer produces dough and whipped cream in a whim. The blender is a bit noisy, but ok (least used part of the MUM-4405). The meat grinder and the shredding/slicing discs are in my opinion the best attachments. When using the meat grinder, it is important that you cut the meat in cubes and put it around 20-30 minutes in the freezer before you start grinding, also cool the grinder spiral and the blade before you start. I am so pleased with this BRAUN MUM4405. It never let me down, nothing broke in these more than 2 1/2 decades of use. I call these quite expensive small appliances "investment". You don't need to worry that it breaks within a few months.
I hope the caddy is available again (I have two); it's so handy. And I wish more folks were aware of the Compact and what an excellent piece of engineering it is. And thanks for pointing out that the blades are reversible.
It's good to see there's a new grain mill attachment. The original grain mill for the Bosch Compact was a hunk of junk. It broke after just a few uses--badly engineered. The new one is much better.
YES, I have made almonds into a fine flour with the continuous shredder or the food processor, using the finest shredding blade. For nut butters, the meat grinder is the best with a 2mm disc attached.
Could I grind almonds to flour with one of the bosch compact mixer attachments and if is, which one would do best? The blender, or the food processor, or the meat grinder (it said you could do nuts in that too, right)?
Bosch offer is so supreme to Kitten Aid, they dont need worry about pasta maker. Besides, pasta makers are rather obsolete gizmos. I had one stand alone pasta maker and after few attempts i stopped to monkey with all this mess and went back to ready pasta which is, after all, much better.
Tabitha, I am sorry to take so long to reply to your question. In regard to almond flour, the continuous shredder and the food processor both do a wonderful job of turning almonds into a flour. It isn't pastry flour but it would probably suit your needs. I have had many customers come into our store and just are amazed at the results with almonds.
