Hey Mark! Thanks to you and Stirling for hosting another giveaway. Count me in! Another good show. Always with me on the commute. Takes the sting out of it!
Hi Mark, another great Monday morning mail bag thank you. I have a Rockwell 6C with the gunmetal finish and yes, it has lost some of the finish in a relatively short time. I can’t tell you when it first started the wear off, but probably I might’ve noticed it within six months. It is actually my every day shave. I love the razor and use it at least six times a week. I do scrub it with a toothbrush about once a week, lightly. Either way, I'm keeping it. Love there razor.
Great MMMB! Thanks for all you do for the shaving community. By the way, I had the same problem with the finish on the razor head of my gunmetal Rockwell 6C the first year I owned it. I contacted Rockwell and they sent a replacement but they did require me to pay almost $8.00 in shipping.
@@MarkSzoradyWell, that is another story. I have switched to a fantastic razor that I now use solely, the Carbon Shaving 316XL with the + razor head. Pricey but well worth it.
Hey Mark, great 3MB as always. Nice hearing about all the cartoonists you’ve met and gotten to know. One cartoonist that I found in the 70’s ,while reading National Lampoon was Charles Rodrigues. His style of drawing the average person brought tears to my eyes. Always find your cartoon related stories interesting. Looking forward to seeing the next 3MB. All the. best!!
I have had Razor Emporium crew revamp 3 or 4 DE and straight razors for me in the recent past. Their work is impeccable. I have been extremely pleased with their work.
Good afternoon, Mark. Regarding the viewer's Rockwell 6C in Gun Metal with the finish wearing off, I had the same experience. The top cap finish on my 6C in Gun Metal began to wear off after 3 or 4 months. I contacted Rockwell Support about the issue. They requested a photo and proof of purchase. Within 2 or 3 days Rockwell sent me a brand new 6C in Gun Metal finish. I still have the original 6C and gave the new one to my son-in-law. So, I can confirm that Rockwell stands behind their products.
Great 3MB as always, it always makes it a little easier to get through the Monday morning traffic. Here is a shave tip that I am sure is not new. To prevent sink clogs for the buildup of hair and shave soap, buy a cheap large bowl (I picked one up at Walmart for a couple of Dollars), set it in your sink, fill it with water, and rinse with the water in the bowl, then when done shaving flush the water down the toilet. I almost never have issues with clogged drains, which I did struggle with in the past. I know this is not a new tip but thought it could help out some new listeners that struggle with clogging drains.
Mark , good morning Sir. Yes the 6C definitely holds a special place in my heart despite the gunmetal finish wearing out . I will add that underneath the gunmetal finish is a very nice chrome finish. I didn't know that until it start to wear out .have a great day
Hi Mark, great 3MB. I look forward to it every Monday with coffee of course. I am from the Netherlands but still happy to participate in the win. I like stirling soap a lot.
Hag’s, Catie’s Bubbles, Ginjer’s Garden, Vanyulay, Gentleman’s Knod, etc…..the list just goes on and on! It is definitely the new Golden Age of traditional wet shaving!
Another great MMMB Mark and George!!! Just an update, got back from the doctor's this morning and the blood clot situation is getting better. More rest and shaving were the Docs orders!!!! Seriously, I have a note!!! I have dropped a bottle of Chiseled Face Midnight Stag and the same thing happened. Just chalk it up as gone. Reason being, I strained what I had left in a cheese cloth folded into quarters into another bottle. After applying it I noticed severe stinging on my face and hands. Miniscule shards still cut my skin and face. Just my 2 scents... Lol. And a shout out to Rod and Mandy at Sterling for seeing the mishap and "making things right". I am in on the soap, aftershave and balm. All the best Mark!!! Give George a biscuit!!! Brian
Brian, great to hear you are on the mend. :) Wonderful! I strained the leftover splash with a coffee filter and it seems to be okay. I cleaned an available Avon Wild Country bottle and, as far as I can see, no small shards or other impurities. Still, I'll be careful.:)
Hi Mark- Great MMMB; thank you! Your show posts like clockwork each and every Monday, so no worries for this week’s show; things can happen! I listened to the first half of the show early at work as a podcast, then watched the second half as a video, later that afternoon- the best of both worlds! As to David’s point about shaving products that may have a strong scent during and post shave, as well as being an irritant, many shave soap and cream artisans offer a scentless version of their products. I know this has been a go-to option for me for many years, as I must be scentless for work each day a teacher of culinary arts. Many of the top artisans regularly mentioned on this program have a scentless soap or cream, aftershave and/or balm available for those who prefer or need this type of product. I have never felt that I was out of the mainstream of what was currently available to wet shavers, as so many artisans have been thoughtful enough to keep scentless shavers in mind. It is definitely worth a look and a try. Well, have a great start to your week, Mark, and best regards, as always!
Mike, interesting that your line of work has so many scent nuances that need to be detected. The addition of an after shave would certainly block things. All senses are needed to prepare a great meal for sure! Thank you!:)
Fingers crossed. I really enjoy Stirling soaps also. SOTD Margaritas in the artic, Gem clog proof, and Duke Cannon balm. One extra thing for summer. I put 8oz water in my paa travel scuttle and keep it in the freezer. Just add coffee and EYE'S WIDE OPEN. Be well and thanks for all you do.
Hey Mark another great 3MB is the way to start the day 👍sorry about the broken bottle and when the 3MB wasn’t posted at the regular time I almost called 911 😂😂 Have a great day and rest of the week 👍✌️
Another fun show. Thanks again. I am going to send photos of my beautiful mastiff Bernice as well a a shot of my father's F4 Gillette fat boy in original condition. Coffee this morning is Lavaza Super Crema beans run through my Brevill espresso machine. Flat white.
Too funny just a couple of days before you did a review on that Haley’s artisan bowl. I ordered one from Etsy the exact same bowl exact same color scheme….. way too funny truly looking forward to it. Love you, Michelle thanks a lot Mark.😊
Hey Mark, just wanted to let you know I got the bowl about two weeks ago. It has become one of my favorites and love the red white and blue barbershop theme and it really is a great leather monster. Have a great day. Thanks for all you do.
I hope I win the giveaway!! My wife and I had a wonderful time visiting The Sterling soap store in Paris Arkansas. We probably spent too much on shaving supplies and wax melts. Sterling makes so many great products.
Another great MMM, Mark. Each one loaded with great info. Thanks for mentioning my comments about scents and my container find for the Clubman soap. I did get the Collette Classic smoked cedar and leather soap because of your review of it weeks ago. It's a wonderful soap with great lather and slick. I wasn't too keen on description of the smoked cedar & leather scents but was still compelled to get it based on your review. Here's the thing: I love the scent but to me it smells like BANANA! I absolutely love it and can't resist just smelling it on occasion just for the heck of it.
Great show as always. I hope the PAA atomizer I found saves someone alot of time in the future! Hope I win the giveaway! I'm a stirling man through and through.
Mark, Satsuma is absolutely marvelous.💥 After trying a sample puck and sample AS of it, I had to buy a full tub and full bottle of the AS. I think this scent could easily be used in the fall and winter too. And like all Stirling shave soaps, the performance is terrific. "BOOM Lather!💥" like a charm.
Great #mb Mark. Thanks for talking about the American Amber. we sent to you. As far as the scrunchy, just add about a quarter size amount of liquid soap to a wet scrunchy and work it in until you get a great lather and scrub away. For travel I am filling some small atomizer with aftershave. Since they are small you can take more than one scent with you. I love the Sterling Vanilla sandalwood and use it often. Have a wonderful week Mark. 👍
Great 3mb! Would love to go to the meet up but have work. And I agree run the splash thru a coffee filter in a strainer and should be good to go! The vanilla Sandlewood sounds fantastic!
Hey Mark! Great 3MB as always! In regards to your questions, my first shave soap I used was Williams Mug Shaving Soap. Unfortunately, it is no longer in production. I was fortunate enough to acquire over 70 pucks over time to compensate. I have nearly 20 pucks of the vintage version. The vintage lathers wonderfully due to the fact that tallow is the main ingredient. The modern doesn't lather as well but is still incredibly slick! As for your other question pertaining to the Rockwell T2, I own the original Model T adjustable! Mine is in immaculate condition with original case, shipper box, and pack of Rockwell blades. I definitely will hold onto that for years to come! It may be worth something along the way! One of these days, I may purchase the T2 version. Rockwell makes top-notch shave gear in my opinion. Thanks as always, Jim from Northfield
Hi Mark..as always a fantastic 3mb. Hope you saw the Little League World Series yesterday. It was just an unbelievable game for the record books. Go USA. I think you should keep putting triple antibiotic cream on that head scab. Have a good week bigpop1950
I'm sorry to hear you dropped and broke your aftershave bottle of vanilla sandlewood. Thankfully, you did not get hurt. Great 3MB, Mark. Have a great week.
Great show! I’ve had a splash half empty into the box it was mailed in but so breaks. I lost more splash than you did so there is always that living lining.😂
My first shave soap was Proraso’s green menthol. I am now into about 75 soaps. Like you I have dinged my head once or twice, and dropped and broke a few shave items. Lol looking forward to the next MMM 1:28:19
Great show as always Mark. Im enjoying a cup of walmart french roast in my cup today. A great value and really good taste. I got a 48ct box of kcups for only 15 bucks. I wanted to comment on the gentleman whos 6c razor is loosing the finish. Ive got the very same razor, and have no such problem. Ive had mine for 3 years now. Still in perfect shape. It sounds more like a batch had quality control issues maybe? Im not sure. But i dont think its the norm. Again, great show and have a great week
Up at last! I figured it must have been an oversight 🙂 It's not Monday without the Mailbag! Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood Giveaway?! Awesome! You'll have to break more bottles - lol! Re face vs bowl lather: I face lather with sticks and hard soaps, and bowl lather with creams and soft soaps. Sticks are my go-to for travel, for the reasons you mention. Razorock sticks are my favourites. As to first soaps/creams: Proraso Green (tube), Arko (stick), Derby Menthol cream, Tabac cream and Nivea cream were the first ones I purchased, via Amazon. I didn't discover soaps (other than the Arko stick) until a few months later.
I’ve been fearing a broken aftershave bottle, especially since my storage shelf is high on the wall and I have a terrazzo floor in the bathroom. Sorry to see that it happened but it spawned something really nice! Always enjoy 3MB.
Another great 3MB! I sent you information on the sign up for the Lone Star Razor in your FB Messenger sir! Only 20 spots left at the time I am writing this.
Hey Mark, I never tried Arko, Tabac, or Proraso. I purchased a sample set of Razor Emporium soaps with my initial order from RE. Soon after, I discovered Stirling and ordered many samples. I am a fan of Stirling. Their soaps performance fabulously, and I now have at least 5 - 6 full tubs and some AS bottles. I have a tub of Cella Red and some PAA & HC&C. I do enjoy the quality of these artisan soaps. I, too, mostly bowl lather with the occasional face lather. I love whipping the soap into the perfect thick, creamy lather... it is so much fun... and also performs very well during the shave.
Hi Mark. Great 3MB video. Btw, Stirling Satsuma is my favorite scent. Also, you misspelled Satsuma in the chapter title. You have it as Matsuma. Have a great week.
I had a gunmetal T2 razor for well over a year and it never tarnished. I wound up gifting it to a friend but only because I wasn't giving it enough use. Cheers, Kevin W
Tulsa is a Great series. Stallone totally is at home in that role Bath Scrunchies are great. Take a little getting used to but are really invigorating. Regarding the Rex blades, I did a shave in PAA CopperDOC and it was wonderful. 3 days growth went down without any fuss or muss. Cold water and PAA Tea Party 508.
My first shaving cream was Proraso green in a tube. Then, I saw Mark Szorady’s video introducing shaving soaps by tier. When I saw him discuss Cella red, I knew it had a special place in his routine. So my second shaving cream, or in this case soap/croap, was Cella Red. Ever since then, I favor tallow based soaps.
When I use the PAA cube, I face lather with it like a shave stick, then pull out the excessive lather from the brush, put it in my bowl, and build my shave soap lather. I like it because it mixes some of the mentholated cube lather with my soap lather to give it a little chill
@@MarkSzorady sure do and I love it. I have another tip I recently discovered that I need to send in. I will try and send it in within the next day or two.
Another great 3MB. Mark if you have a spray bottle you could pour that broken splash in there. I recently tried the atomizer HC&C sells for their splash and it was great as I used less splash but still covered the same area. Vanilla Sandlewood sounds like a great scent. Have a great week Edit: My first shave soap was Stirling. I was part of the Dollar Shave Club and was tired of them raising prices. I got the Leaf razor and was having clogging issues. In the mean time I contacted Leaf and found IAMCDB, both talked about artisan shave soaps. The videos I first found with the Leaf with him was using Stirling so I bought a few samples before a few tubs. Edit: Mark try the Leaf with only the top two slots loaded to shave your head. If I have small nicks this is my go to as most of the time it will shave over it but still give me a nice shave.
You know mark, sinks have cost me a small fortune over the years. I don't know what it is with my bloody sink, but as soon as something made of glass or ceramic touches it, it just seems to explode 😂. I've lost countless lathering bowls to my dreaded sink.
Hard to say exactly which soap first tried for wet-shaving. Grocery stores had I believe Colgate-Palmolive shaving soap at one time and I may have tried that but I did not yet know to use a brush. Some years later, I received a partly used second-hand tube of *Palmolive Lather Shave* - cream in a tube and at the time of first trying it I still wasn't too attentive to trying shaving brushes. Finally a few years ago I restarted in a more dedicated way using safety razors,, brush, and *Palmolive Lather Shave* (now gone).
@Mark Szorady, a coffee filter in a funnel should work a treat for keeping any tiny glass pieces out of the decanted aftershave. Free Stirling Vanilla-Sandalwood Soap, Splash, and Balm? I'm in. PIck me, pick me, pick me.
Id love to win , vanilla and sandalwood are my fav scents and ive looked at that one for a long time but i promised i wouldnt buy anymore but winning isnt buying so it doesnt count ... right?

As to first soaps/creams: Proraso Green (tube), Arko (stick), Derby Menthol cream, Tabac cream and Nivea cream were the first ones I purchased, via Amazon. I didn't discover soaps (other than the Arko stick) until a few months later.
Keith, I don't want to break any more bottles, but if I do, I'll do another giveaway like this one.:) It's been fun so far.:)
Great 3MB. Currently using Sterling Soap sharp dressed man, if you haven’t tried it yet I highly recommend it.
I have ir and it's great! Agree!:)
Way to go butterfingers LOL KEEP up the good work
Hey Mark, I never tried Arko, Tabac, or Proraso.
Kevin, a wonderful PIF!:)
Great 3MB Mark.
Tulsa is a Great series. Stallone totally is at home in that role
Bath Scrunchies are great. Take a little getting used to but are really invigorating.
Regarding the Rex blades, I did a shave in PAA CopperDOC and it was wonderful. 3 days growth went down without any fuss or muss. Cold water and PAA Tea Party 508.
Great Tips today, I’m trying the Lemon on the Rim !
Ok the 3MB posted. We can all relax now!! Whew I was worried.
I would love to try the shave soap and splash.
When I use the PAA cube, I face lather with it like a shave stick, then pull out the excessive lather from the brush, put it in my bowl, and build my shave soap lather. I like it because it mixes some of the mentholated cube lather with my soap lather to give it a little chill
THAT is a great tip!! Do you have a George sketch?
@@MarkSzorady sure do and I love it. I have another tip I recently discovered that I need to send in. I will try and send it in within the next day or two.
Thanks for the Vanilla Sandalwood giveaway. I also love it, but don’t have the balm. Would be great to win.
Another great 3MB. Mark if you have a spray bottle you could pour that broken splash in there. I recently tried the atomizer HC&C sells for their splash and it was great as I used less splash but still covered the same area. Vanilla Sandlewood sounds like a great scent. Have a great week
Edit: My first shave soap was Stirling.
Jay, sounds like it's similar to some folks with computers. They touch a computer and it stops working.:)
I need to see if that unbreakable bowl can stand up to my sink. No but seriously I am getting one of them.
I would love to win the vanilla sandlewood combo! Yours sincerely John.
You could strain the splash through a coffee filter, I would think that would do it
Yeah hit us OKIES up if you come to Oklahoma. There’s a few among the Wet Shaving Community in Tulsa area.
I always bowl lather at home. When I travel I face lather.
@Mark Szorady, a coffee filter in a funnel should work a treat for keeping any tiny glass pieces out of the decanted aftershave.
