  • Perfect Garage Shelf - How To Build
    Tools I used:
    Dewalt 12" Chop Saw - amzn.to/2xdsheY
    Craftsman Drill and Impact Driver - amzn.to/2yoMKLJ
    Craftsman Saw - amzn.to/2wFlAhP
    We keep it simple, but in case you care, this is the gear:
    Vlogging Camera - amzn.to/2LGSOcZ
    Camera Holding Thing - amzn.to/2O2n9PV
    128GB SD Card - amzn.to/2KkzBIA
    Perfect Garage Shelf
    Dimensions:
    80" H x 2' W x 8' L
    Needed materials:
    2x3x8' - 12
    2x3x21" - 12
    2x4x8' - 5
    1/2 OSB particle board - 2
    - Have Lowes cut them in half (24"x8')
    3 1/2" Grabbers Wood Screws
    Craftsman Impact Driver
    This was the last garage shelf I built this Summer and by far the best garage shelf I have ever made. Everything was so square and fit well. It is solid as a rock and I am just happy with it. Not without imperfection but perfect for us.
    It was a lot of fun for Tan the man, Shay Babes and I to build. We learn together and have fun doing so.

    Nice Build. Nothing better than an organized garage!

    Creo que si les hiciera resaques a los entrepaños en cada poste o barrote estaría más seguro y evitaría que bailara con el tiempo o en cada momento de poner objetos.. gracias por el video y saludos a los niños son geniales.

    Please note that I do not consider myself or this shelving system to be perfect. Just perfect enough for us! I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions. What could I have done better?

      Hi. A detail to take into account is that the middle stud would have been much better if you had placed it flush with the horizontal braces, so that it does not protrude from the rest of the structure. Otherwise I thought it was excellent.

    Not post and beam . Your weight is supported by your screws only . Real heavy weights on your shelves could compromise your build. Laminate some 2"x4"s on to your up right 2"x4"s from top to bottom of your shelving and to the floor

      I like the bigger wood items.. anything useful.. for some reason it's easier to watch someone who is closer to my level in building

    • @GingerAdventurez
      @GingerAdventurez  7 років тому

      I can understand that. Sometimes the pros use language that is foreign and doesn't help. We've got a few different wood projects. Let me know if you can't find them.

    I just built one of these for my storage locker. I was shocked when I went to Home Despot and saw 2x4 for $6.42 !!!!!!! So, I used 2x3's for the uprights and 2x2's for under the shelves,, and 7/16 ply sheeting for the shelf tops. Seems plenty strong for my needs. ..........................Just saying...........................................Mike

      You are absolutely right. 7/16 is plenty. Thanks for following up.

    Using nails without predrilling pilot hole, the 2 x 4 on the right is already split from the nail. Should have use screws which are stronger to hold wood together. All that work and go cheap with nails.

    • @floppychicken68
      @floppychicken68 5 років тому +4

      What? He used 'construction screws' for everything and they're sitting on the shelf at 4:06. Although screws are better to put things together so that they can be removed easily, Nails are FAR better for structural integrity! The shear strength of even a moderate quality nail vs a screw is of no comparison. This is exactly why houses and fences last decades long that are built with nails. How many homes do you think are built with screws? Either way, construction screws are perfectly fine for this application and same goes for similar projects like this...

    • @GingerAdventurez

      Thanks for the tip! I am lazy and appreciate the speed of screws and how tight pulls everything together. Can I not use a stronger screw?
