Given that our tax dollars pay for all these reports they should all be made public. Not watered down or hidden away but tabled and accessible. Accountability appears to have given way to covering ones tracks.
Personally I think Steele-John is a bit of a git. But I’m with him on this one. These public servants need to have the stick applied to their collective butts!! Except the clock thing. The git is trying to make it about a few clocks making ticking noises, when it’s about changing the building management system to cater for 1 or 2 people per day who are emotionally disturbed to a point that they are dreadfully upset by the noise that all clocks made until a few years ago.
I have worked at Parliament House a few years ago and I can confirm that the ticking clocks are loud but so are the Senate and House of Reps bells, which, after awhile, you do get used to and ignore. As stated there are thousands of clocks in Parliament House and to replace these and the infrastructure for a couple of individuals does not seem to be a good use of Government dollars. Maybe if an individual has a problem in their workspace specifically, they may be able to do something for that particular clock without a complete replacement. Like everything in Parliament House this is grandstanding for an upcoming election, I must get a headline so my constituents can see that I am doing something. Another bashing of the Secretary of DPS for political gain.
Or maybe we can sell our $380 billion superfluous submarines back when we get in 20 years. And use that money, rather than spend it on pointing weapons against our biggest trading partner??

I was with until the ticking clock thing. I agree, release the report, show the recommendations. But the point about the ticking clocks and the cost involved to resolve that is a fair one.
Plenty of reports are made with lots of recommendations. Not releasing it because there’s a lot of,problems to fix is utter bollocks. There are such things as infrastructure schedules that they can build refits into. And when it comes to clocks, how many clocks do we need when everyone carries one with them? Get rid of some and change out a few others.
The clocks have another purpose other than time, they contain red and green flashing lights and the Senate and Reps Bells in order that Senators and Members do not miss a division.
all public servants and politicians should be issued with tax-payer funded Rolex watches so there are no issues with clocks, which can be sold off to PNG or Tasmania
A report with over 300 recommendations is kind of an outrageous demand. Whos fitting the bill for all the research and enquiry required for this report? I would flat out refuse to play this stupid game and waste taxpayers dollars. Pick 50 important ones and focus on important matters that people actually care about. Who the hell fixes clocks? unless it's an antique you buy new ones.
Again, awesome. Overdue audit, no credible time frame, time wasting, failure to even part implement....anything as a priority apart from stonewalling, and a departmental gatekeeping network of proctected inefficiency exposed as being another cash burning, over bloated bureaucracy and a tyre kicking, adversarial negator of duty. This is a senator who actually advocates, its quite refreshing.
Thank you Jordan. I think these people have no idea what the lived experience are and try and silence you and are rude to you when you try to give it voice. Thank you, I’m sorry these politicians are so shit
Total over-reaction. Yes the clocks tick. They are 80's tech & were originally meant for airports, train & bus stations, not deathly quiet offices. An oversight of the original purchase perhaps. Quiet ones can be obtained that will fit the system with some slight modification, however they are expensive. What do you want your tax dollars spent on....?
Jordan, you are the person I most admire in our whole parliament. Thank you for holding the lazy, complacent bsstards to account. Everybody should get fair treatment at work - and that includes "reasonable accommodations" for everyone with a disability. Thank you for fighting the good fight. You are a legend. ❤❤❤
Boy oh boy what a bunch of over paid puppets, no one can ever answer any questjon, & on topo tha these puppets go and include " more" staff" to delay or non reply or answer, ( what a bunch of " hand ballers" )
What a fruit loop.😂 No wonder we achieve nothing constructive in this country with the Greens in parliament.
Taxpayers money at work What a circus
Am I missing something?
It seems to me, Ministers speak and act to protect their departments instead of holding them to account
Most advanced society ever lived 😂
We are going backwards
people like this shit me to tears.
How coming up with a solution then complaining. The greens just whinge.
He's not the full quid
Thank you Jordan for providing inspiration for the next season of Utopia. Great work.
Are the clocks in parliament especially noisy?
I almost got conned by this rubbish.

Reports need to be dry cleaned before release.
I’m not surprised as they couldn’t organise a chook raffle on past experience!
Are you serious champion? Clocks? Bloody Utopia
Essentially they’re saying: thanks for letting us chat with you. However, we aren‘t prepared to meet your needs, so good luck navigating the building.

Surely a better solution is to just provide free ear plugs to anyone that is bothered by a ticking clock
Don’t ask me why, but I’m sure that suggestion is racist.

If you can't handle a ticking clock you most certainly couldn't handle the stress of being in parliament and all the sacrifices personally required.

Leave the clocks as are

It seems verbal obfuscation is the most necessary technical skill needed to make it to the top of the Australian public service.

Thank you Jordan steel John!
Unless the disabled person is a military or emergency worker injured during action they should Not be in parliment.
Is the bantum asleep again?
The cost of living might be more relevant to get off your bike about .
Looking for better practice, not finding it. Disabled people are citizens (and senators). We need access.
