- K-Sounds Organimation is designed to be the definitive tonewheel organ resource for the Yamaha Montage. Hello, I’m hearing some phase shift right around 2:02 on the A minor chord, (NOT Leslie modulation). Is there anything that can be done about this? (Maybe an update since this video has been recorded) If so, I want to download this immediately for my MODX! Everything else about the sound are really well done, and totally suit my needs! Thanks in advance!!
Hi, thank you for your message. When a regular sample playback engine is used for tonewheel organ sounds, there will always be some degree of phase cancellation. To eliminate it altogether, it is necessary to have a dedicated organ engine, which is not available on the Montage. We have done our best to minimize phase cancellation within the limitations of the Montage system.

Does the sound go from clean to dirty as the expression pedal is increased like it would in a real Hammond/Leslie combination?
I purchased these awhile back and have finally had the chance to play with them. Great sounds, and I love having the growl sound because my dedicated keyboard with a vent can't get that convincingly for my tastes. The superknob settings are really well done out of the box. Really captured so much of what I need in a live set.

I bought this for my MODX and want to program the assignable foot switch to turn the leslie on/off along with the mod wheel...not having much luck...What am I doing wrong?
I emailed Tim, but for others who are interested: On the Montage, you'll need to press the Utility button, touch the Settings tab, touch the MIDI I/O sub-tab, and touch the FS Assign parameter. Change its value to 1. This will cause the footswitch to duplicate the mod wheel. It will have momentary response, giving a fast rotary speaker speed only while the pedal is held down. If you need a footswitch to toggle the rotary speaker speed instead, I recommend purchasing a latching footswitch.
Sounds Really Good!!!! Beautiful playing too. But do you have an option to make the sliders work in 'reverse' the way they do on a real Hammond? thanks.

I just bought the Orgamination pack and it sounds really good. There's one thing, I want to change the rotor speed with my foot switch. For the preset organ sounds in the Montage there's no problem to assign the foot switch but for the K Sounds I had no succes till now. Can you please tell me how to achieve this?
To assign a foot switch to the mod wheel (that they are using for rotor speed), press utility, Settings, Midi I/O, and find the "FS Assign" box. Set the value to 1 which is the CC value for the mod wheel. I have not tried it on this patch set but it works in general for the built-in organ patches.
I have Organimation for the moxf. If I load it in the modx, will it work and sound the same as it does in this video?
Hi Mark, thank you for your comment. No, Organimation for the Montage / MODX is an entirely different product than the MOXF version.

Why did you use the rotory emulation 1 on these instead of the new rotory emulation 2 released with the montage 1.5 update?
Thank you for your message. Extensive testing was done with both rotary effects. The decision of which to use was based on how the effects fit into the overall programming. Neither effect was used as-is. Custom programming takes Organimation's rotary emulation to a higher level.
Hey. That's awesome! Are the drawbars in Organimation midi compatible? I'd like to get a 9 slider controller and use it with the modx 7.
Hi Michael! Thank you for your comment. The drawbars do not correspond to MIDI CC numbers. The Montage uses internal system exclusive messages for slider movements.
I have a MAC BOOK PRO And every time i put the Flash Drive or thumb drive into the MONTAGE it wants to FORMAT the DRIVE then it erases the file. Then i stick it back into my MAC and it wants to format it cause it's unrecognizable what am i doing wrong here?
On your Mac format the disk as Fat32. Try a different USB if that doesn't work.

When sending a midi cc#1 (0-127) with exp pedal via midi in of modx the rotary wont move… but the modwheel on the keyboard works well … the exp pedal works well with all other presets oft the modx… i am stuck :-(
Thank you for your comment. Organimation for Montage / MODX is programmed for the Assignable foot *switch* input to control rotary speaker speed. (The foot *controller* inputs are not assigned to this.) I recommend using a latching footswitch, not the normal momentary kind, so that it can toggle the rotary speaker speed.

Will this work in the MODX? AFAIK the MODX doesn't have a very good leslie sim, or doesn't even have one at all.

MODX has same sound engine and effects as Montage. It just has less polyphony in the FM engine and less physical sliders. Both sound the same.
I have a moxf6. How can I load 1 single sound off a library

I can't figure Yamaha out. One less slider than drawbars? The sliders move REVERSE of actual drawbars. There's no indication of the drawbars initial position in the patch (at least in this video). Yeah the demo sounds pretty sweet...but anyone who is a real organ player would immediately consider Kronos, Forte, Nord Stage or numerous other keyboards much better form factor. How hard would it have been to add one more fader and reverse the motion? Are there any actual musicians who work at Yamaha?
Hi Robert, Thank you for your comments. I too would have preferred the Montage to have 9 sliders instead of 8. For performances with all drawbars active, Organimation combines the 1 3/5' and 1 1/3' drawbars onto a single slider. Those drawbars are provided as separate samples too.
Agreed, having the sliders reverse their response for organ sounds would be nice too.
Most Organimation performances show which drawbars are active. The Super Knob is programmed to offset element volumes, providing a variety of drawbar settings as it is turned, so you can't simply look at the slider LED's to see the default drawbar setting. However, it's very easy to save your own presets that DO show the actual drawbar positions: Simply start with a performance that offers all drawbars (see the Organimation User Guide if you're unsure which ones do), turn the Super Knob to its far right position, and then adjust the sliders. When the Super Knob is all the way to the right, the drawbars (and their LED's) reflect the actual drawbar setting. Store the performance.
I realize this is a promo for your programs and not a Montage promo. Sorry for being a downer about it. Your programs sound great. Yamaha frustrates me, and I've used their products for years and only recently changed to Kurzweil and Nord. Your product sounds solid though, if I was a Montage user I'd definitely be using it.

And I can relate - I can't think of any keyboard that hasn't caused frustration at some point due to some aspect of its design. Even so, each synth offers tremendous musical potential, and I highly respect the brilliant minds that create them.
This probably isnt' the best forum for a product recommendation: but a great product you could put out would be VAST organs for the Forte. Since you can only run one instance of KB3 mode in a multi, you can't really build a 2 register organ patch without VAST organs. Major drawback of what is otherwise a great instrument.
Yamaha didn't intend the Montage to function as a clonewheel, the sliders were not designed for drawbar organ emulation. Organimation is cleverly finding a way to simulate those functions anyway, but has to live with the limitations of 8 sliders that only work in one direction. It's a byproduct of making the keyboard do something it was not originally designed to do.
Did a gig last night with the new MODX and was pretty disappointed by the organs. The rest of the sounds were great, the organ presets are just so....BLAH. This looks very promising though! Going to buy this today and hope it restores my love for the new board :)
After 5 minutes, I can verify these organs are 1000% better than the presets. Looks like I'll be spending a few hours setting up the setlist again!

"Drawbars" move backwards from a Hammond.......Yeah, deal killer for any organist!
Thank you for your comment. I agree it would be better for downward slider movement to increase drawbar levels, but the Montage voicing system does not allow slider response to be reversed.

Kronos 2 drawbars easier to use.
Thank you for your comment. Keep in mind that Kronos has a dedicated organ mode, so one would hope their drawbar implementation would be friendly. The Montage version of Organimation maximizes the general-purpose controls of the Montage and offers fantastic sound quality.
The Kronos organ sounds are horrible though.
@@Espectro101 kronos have average sound quality of hammond, but the internal presets are total shit , i have my programmed presets and around 500 3rd presets so i am ok with it, your pity that you cant programming sounds
i bought the KRONOS LS 88 and the organ on that puppy is LEGIT But it still does not sound like my HAMMOND XK 5 PRO SERIES
Fantastic machine. Personally I don’t like the sound of organ
