Mnk in halo infinite is so mentally draining , the mental skill to track with that at strafe speed is thanos level, infinite is the only game I will play controller , I’ll play mnk even against controller with crazy advantage in cod and apex. Halo no way Jose. Much much respect to wutum
This is sooooo accurate. I've been playing MnK for literally decades. Highest I was ever able to hit was diamond 5. After a week of playing with controller I hit Onyx. MnK on infinite is beyond broken.
I'm no WaTum of course, but IMO - 1800 controller player when I was playing a lot; switched to MnK a few months ago and managed to get to 1600 before the reset. I think I could get back to 1800 with no issue if I really focused. The big issue people have with MnK, is that they try to play it like CS or Valorant. Much like how Infinite relies heavily on your left thumb to aim with controller, MnK relies heavily on your left hand and WASD keys - it's all about your strafe. Folks try to right hand/arm aim like it's a precision game like CS, and it's really not like that. You can get last hit kills with quick whipping movements like that, especially with snipers, but most of your standard 1v1 fights should be approached in a similar way to controller. I've been playing since CE, been in pro lobbies since H2...and it's weird to say that I prefer MnK now.
@@umbra_ydn I think this is probably my main issue. Straffe aiming on MnK just feels so weird on MnK. I hit diamond 5 in team snipers on MnK, plat 6 in other playlists, so your hypothesis makes sense. As soon as I switch to controller it’s just so much easier to left stick aim as you said.
When the game first dropped I hadn’t played on controller in 5+ years. I grinded MnK and was D5 the first month but I just couldn’t do it anymore. Went and bought a controller and also hit onyx almost immediately afterwards. For me it was the close range battles that were the hardest. Sniping and movement felt really good, but the br (at the time) was so hard to be consistent
Really love this type of educational commentary type of content ! Please do more videos like this lol like maybe going over other crazy close matches and such in the HCS. Awesome work and looking forward to more !
Should be mandatory for all roller players to try mnk in Halo, wutum is insane. It's so incredibly difficult to fight mid to close range. Mnk in Halo takes insane focus
It just takes lots of practice to get used to the aim assist and movement. Once you dial in a sense that allows you to move and aim consistently, it’s not that hard
@@deankruse2891 you need to be on your A game all the time with mnk to keep up in ranked. I play both controller and mnk (10 years of fps) and when I want to turn my brain a little off I use controller, I get a lot more perfect medals and definitely don’t stress as much.
I say MnK is easier if you are adjusted and practiced with it. 1750 Onyx and up with both inputs! Sniping and snapping into bodies is buttery with high frames and proper settings.
I've been playing MnK for literally decades. Highest I was ever able to hit was diamond 5. After a week of playing with controller I hit Onyx. MnK on infinite is beyond broken.
Truth. I'm high diamond/low onyx on MnK. I love how it feels, but MnK isn't given any favors in Infinite. The AA is very strong in this game. Hopefully, the H3 network update helps a little.
@tylerkay825 The new network update they have been testing in Firefight is essentially the H3 network code that they are trying to implement into Infinite. Could be promising and hopefully stop some of the hit reg issues as well as hopefully adding a trade window for ping discrepancies
If you watch the best mnk players play they play like they’re emulating controller on mnk for their movements and centering. Its not just flicking around and being an aimbot to me thats what sets apart top mnk players from the others is their control over their movements and centering. Wutum, ambition, scoob and mailman dont miss but they also really use WASD to its max potential. Its like the same fundamental concepts of aiming on controller for halo used on mnk which is really interesting.
Yes, by far (though obviously differences are smaller and smaller the higher you go). I'm a controller player but I love to watch Wutum fry with and against the best of the best! *he's from Finland🇫🇮 neighbor of Norway though, correct.*
Everyone literally should be forced to try mnk to see how difficult it is to compete against controller . Unless your in btb playing cans or plat. The amount of focusing required and even still literally can’t blink controller will always dominate halo aim assist is king
My best is 1630 Onyx with MnK, focusing on tracking with the mouse in Halo is exhausting, after a couple of hours I'm always very tired. So it's not a casual way to play...but it's fun!
To be honest, you praised quite normal stuff for MNK. THere was actually nothing impressive in the gameplay (dont deny this kid might be good, but not based on this POV). next time focus on how many 1v1 medium-short range he wins. That is impresive in MNK, not to flick, be a shot up the whole engagement and die at the end 80 % of the duels vs controllers, that is quite the average experience unfortunatelly.
I recently got back into infinte, I only played like 3 games when it came out but i've just started playing again with MnK and its fun but running into it seems like 3 stack controller onyx players so its fustrating just trying to vibe lmao so its cool seeing one of these guys get some spotlight
Hopefully, 343i does something about the issues with MnK on the xbox during the Open series at Majors. There isnt enough room for MnK, the chairs and tables are not designed for MnK and the 250hz peripheral lock is just gross. There are great MnK players, but at LANs they are handicapped bad.
Yeah thats basically a result of the organisers not expecting anyone to play MnK at the event. If you play Competitive Halo it’s expected you use Controller so it was probably a shock lmao.
I can only think of Scoobmeister (AUS) and Sam something (MX). Sam something (apologize for not remembering his exact gamename) isn't exactly a pro though, but he did beat Trippy and Stellur in some 1v1 tournament.
Also on MnK the adjustments made are more precise and quicker. A genuinely good player can go from 55-70% if moving to MnK. The only concern, is close encounters are still awkward on MnK. As for movement, u can fly on the map using MnK as well as switch from one position to the next quickly and smoothly. It's just better. But also more difficult to master imo. I play Valorant now. Top 1500. Btw almost nothing transfers to valorant except for a bit of gamesense.
How can you possibly think MnK is better/easier than controller in this day and age? And in Halo of all games? I prefer MnK and much more enjoy the complete freedom and expression of manual skill. But MnK can't beat the robot aim of rollers. Not in Apex, not in CoD, not in Fortnite - and definitely not in Halo.
Haven't you seen him play vs the best controller players of NA in mm and in HCS online tournaments? I know you'd like to think he gets "stomped" but that's absolutely not the case, he plays on the same level as anyone else. You clearly haven't seen him play vs actual HCS teams. He's also 6th in mm leaderboard as we speak, which is worldwide, crossplay.

I’m 1700 mnk and I play on 1600 dpi and .59 sensitivity. Having a bit higher than normal sense in halo is needed, IMO, for movement. The aim assist on infinite makes shooting too easy so tracking while moving can be done with higher sense.
What’s your gt ? Halo Infinite launched on PC, it wasn't just made for consoles - past Halo games? Sure, outside of CE and H2 Vista, but even then controller players always use the same reasoning you did... "it's not made for PC, we deserve soft aimbot because the game was made for console users" I think it just goes to show that console users are generally lower in skill due to their constant defense of having an algorithm play the game for them, even if you took aim assist off of controller (not even making them play on M&K) they'd all realize how dogshit they really are Simple as
@@RRagan The real question is what kinda logic is that he should be beating teams of 4 alone lol. Mnk is too easy on this game with aim assist. I don’t even play controller anymore on infinite.
