I watched on TV an loved it. Then watched it live and loved it even more! Sight and sound theater's musicals were all good but this one is by far the best.

I was disappointed with it, was expecting a more memorable Prince of Egypt type of thing.

They shouldve done that moses, i didnt like how they did like it. They shouldve made moses speak clearly without the stuttering, they take a lot of creative liberties.

@@katmossa3503 If you read the bible, or know the story of Moses, you would know why he was stuttering.

@@tumise_ yeah i know, but they have creative liberty, they can add and take away things that would help the story flow better without changing the important components of the story. Prince of egypt did that perfectly. This portrayl of moses seemed be lacking and thats partially because aaron was the one speaking and using the rod.

@@katmossa3503 That's how it was in the bible. That's why they kept him like that. Moses had a stutter. Which is why, when he was talking to God, he told God that he couldn't do it. So God led him to Aaron, so that Aaron can be his voice.

    • @katmossa3503

@@tumise_ yeah i know how it happens in the bible. But they used their creative liberties in unnecessary ways. All adaptions of moses got rid of the stutter for reason and its smart choice. Having aaron doing the talk and work, took the spotlight off of moses. They over did the stuttering and made it cheesy

Great set design, great costumes, great music.
But the lead actress is miscast. She is shy, insecure, and cannot handle the magnitude of the role, whereas the lead actor overacts and shouts all his lines and dominates, talking over other actors.
Two leads are miscast. The understudies are far more believable in their roles.

I think both of them were great for the role, vocals and acting. That's how the director wanted them to act which is why they were casted.

I thought that this actress's portrayal of Esther was extremely appropriate. She was a single orphan from an oppressed minority group who was suddenly thrust into the dangerous politics of the Persian court. It's not a wonder that she was shy and insecure! But as she kept her gaze fixed on God and relied ever more on Him, her shy insecurity gave way to a meek and quiet strength. The hero wasn't Esther. Esther was unequal to the task set before her. The hero was God, who was glorified all the more because of her weekness.
As for Xerxes, the actor explained his character well in this interview. Historically, Xerxes was egotistic and emotionally volatile. He was born into the imperial family of Persia believing he had a right to rule the world. I'd be concerned if he weren't portrayed as dominating.
